This organization has helped so many seniors in need. Insurance companies do not cover essential equipment such as shower chairs, hand held shower, tub transfer benches, bed side commodes, high rise toilet seats, etc. These items are essential for safety and independence. I don't know what we would do without this organization!!!
As a home care occupational therapist, I see numerous individuals struggle daily to live life to the fullest in their homes. Most equipment needed for safety is not covered by insurance and people have to choose between paying for medications, food, bills or equipment. Blessings in Disguise has made a huge impact on our local citizens equipment needs. Due to their generous donations, people in our area can "age in place" safely!!
I am currently fighting breast cancer stage 4 and was recently hospitalized. I ended up in a coma for 8 days. When it was time to come home, I couldn’t stand or walk on my own. We contacted Blessings in Disguise to see if they had medical equipment? They made sure that I had a walker, shower chair, etc. and they had it at the house before I even got home to make the transition as easy as possible.
I am so thankful that we we knew about their programs. Blessings in Disguise is a not-for-profit organization, all members volunteer their time and talent to help others.
John and all the volunteers are amazing. John goes out of his way to find anything that someone needs and gets it to them right away. I have helped this organization and have been able to help a friend get a much needed hospital bed with John’s help❤️
This is such a wonderful concept that helps those who fall into the financial crack of having too much and not having enough. I work in senior care and there are so many unused supplies or equipment that is barely used, that can be repurposed for others. This is the place for all of those things if you know anyone that has something they are no longer using.
I hope everyone will consider donating or helping John in this mission to help others. If you know anyone in need, Blessings is ready to help.
I have used them a few times to help my patients with needs insurance wouldn’t pay for! They have truly been a blessing
Blessings in Disguise is a awesome charity. After my husband was diagnosed with cancer, I contacted them for help. At a time you have some of your darkest days, they helped ease financial burdens, and loaned us a wheelchair. They respond quickly, and are completely non judgemental. Blessings in Disguise is heaven sent and restore your faith when your feeling discouraged.
My mom had a wheeled walker she was no longer using. it was taking up space because she didn't want to throw it away since it was still usable. Blessings in Disguise not only took the walker, they passed it on to a client in just a few days. My mom is happy it is being used by someone who needs it and the person who has it didn't have to come up with $100 to buy one new. Great organization! Anyone who has DME (Durable Medical Equipment) that is no longer needed, reach out to Blessings!
My aunt needed a cane and a walker during her recent visit and I had heard about Blessings In Disguise and contacted them about their H.E.L.P. program which provides loaner DME equipment. They gave us each of those to use why she was here, and I made a donation back to the organization.
Me and my family lost our home due to financial reasons and we're forced to move into a hotel. Well after having several knee surgeries and being unable to work for a few months we found ourselves in a very bad spot, we most certainly never have been able to get out of there and back on our feet by ourselves. Well John Sayre came to the rescue and not only paid for our new houses rent and deposit to get us out of the hotel, he also bought my family new clothes and also caught us extremely off guard put the down payment on a vehicle for us. Now we are in a stable home and I have just been hired to my dream job at Chrysler and absolutely none of this would have been possible without Blessings in disguise. John and his organization are wonderful people whom deserve the best things to happen to them because they're truly angels to those who need it. I am not only forever grateful, but vow to be an extremely active contributer to pay all of this forward many many times over because I am a firm believer in karma. Simply amazing is the best way to decribe these people and what they did and continue to do for others without a second thought.
My family and I were facing imminent eviction from our home. My wife had recently lost her job and at the same time was battling recovery from illness. Blessings in Disguise graciously and lovingly helped us in a HUGE way to be able to stay in our home. Without their help I don't know what we would have done. We are beyond blessed knowing Blessings in Disguise helps so many families in need. We will forever be grateful!!
I don't know how to thank "Blessing in disguise ",words just don't cover how grateful we are to them. They found us before we found them.John Sayre reached out to Kristian Brenneman from channel 13 and they did our story on the news.Blessing in disguise came out to our home and let us know that they are here to help, and help they did.John wrote out a check for rent and a car payment as if it was his own.It left my wife in tears. We are going through a very rough time right now with my health and Blessing in disguise is helping us cope with it better. My disease has caused me to be without a job, without hope and without faith....John is helping to bring it all back. The empathy and compassion that they brought to us is undeniably the greatest feeling you can get from the heart
My story is a little different than most.My husband is a carpenter and I work full time and going to nursing school. We both like helping others when ever we can. I have a neighbor that has Huntington's Chorea and her son has Cerebral Palsy and their bathroom floor was rotting which made the bathroom unsafe. We don't have a lot of money but when I got my refund from school we bought the supplies to remodel their bathroom. We ripped out everything and we didn't realize until we ripped the bathtub out that we were going to need a plumber to reroute the drain so we could put a walk in shower in. My husband has been laid off periodically this year and we are always trying to play catch up. So we didn't have the money to hire a plumber. I asked around and was given the name of the Non-Profit Agency Blessings in Disguise so I got on the computer and went to their website. I filled out the online form and then waited to hear something. Not to long after filling out the online form I got an email from Mr. Sayre and from there Blessings in Disguise went to work. First they started looking for a plumber that would do the work as a donation and after awhile they couldn't find someone to do the work as a donation so Blessings in Disguise were gracious enough to help pay for a plumber. So the drain was rerouted and my husband finished my neighbors bathroom. I met up with Mr. Sayre and we started talking and he has even taken on to help my husband and I get our credit on track so we can eventually can buy our own home. Now mind you my husband and I have never owned our own home and we have been married for 15 years. We have always wanted our kids to get a good education so we have always paid so much in rent so we could stay in a good school district. He even checks in with me to see how things are going. He is an awesome person and truly has helping others in his heart!! Thank you for everything and I mean this from the bottom of my heart!!
Blessings In Disguise helped me and my family get back on our feet again after I was laid off. If it weren't for Blessings In Disguise, I don't know what we would have done. I plan on donating to them in the future for sure and paying it forward.
Blessings in Disguise is dedicated and passionate about providing temporary assistance to middle class people who have fallen on hard times due to job loss, health conditions or other set-backs, I know of specific instances where board members have worked late into the night and even on holidays to make emergency payments to banks to stop foreclosures or fix a furnace on a freezing cold day for someone in need, not only do they provide immediate financial assistance, but they also provide coaching and will help direct clients to other organizations who can further assist. I've personally volunteered at their fund raising events and 100 percent of funds raised go to those in need. This is a great organization run by individuals who have hearts of gold.
