My name is Lisa and this is my story. 16 years ago I lost my precious baby boy Blaze, to liver cancer. He was diagnosed at just 7 months old and sadly passed away at 13 months. It was BY FAR THE HARDEST time of my life. Because Blaze was so sick, I had to take a leave from my job as we spent most of our time in the hospital. Blaze endured aggressive chemotherapy and underwent multiple surgeries. During his treatments, I was able to stay with him, I was able to be a mom, I was able to sleep in the hospital bed with him nightly, and I was lucky enough to have not been forced to miss a single precious moment of time with him. The provisions for both Blaze and myself were met and I am forever grateful. Unfortunately for some parents, this isn't always the case. In the days to come, donations were made, fundraisers were had, and even collection jars were on the counters of convenience stores throughout all of Sarasota. All of this was organized and executed by the loving people in our community to help meet our needs. People just like YOU! People who wanted to help... even complete strangers! The compassion, love, support and prayers gave me HOPE in my greatest time of need.
