BSLS not only helps and motivates students throughout their college experience, they are also very involved in the communities. I’ve witnessed them giving back year after year to our younger generation in many ways over various occasions always with the mission to help and guide students towards a better tomorrow. Not only are they giving back to the community, they also host leadership trainings, mentorship programs, and financial awareness summits to fellow students and if you can’t attend personally, there is a zoom link readily available to make sure you stay informed no matter where you are. This is a great organization full of leaders with big hearts! They deserve so much!
Big Sister Little Sister has been such an amazing program for girls and women of all ages. This is one of the best safe spaces to connect with so many other girls and allow them to learn and grow into women. Big Sister Little Sister is a sisterhood and it gives girls space to voice their opinion, support each other and uplift each other in life. They have the best teachers and mentors and I pray this program continues to grow and bless so many other girls around the world who need a space and opportunity to be them selfs. I hope to see this program grow within schools and prepare these girls for the real world. Thank you for making away.
They have Easter events for kids every year in an area of town where low income families are and just for any and every kid that comes out! I think this is amazing and outstanding and worthy of praise!!
Witnessing the works of BSLS firsthand, they demonstrate hardwork daily to bring every program and event to a reality for its members. Providing a safe space to expand, grow and gain support, I look forward in seeing the elevation of good works from BSLS. This non-profit is not only needed for our communities, but as a major stepping stone for our youth’s future.
BSLS has been a beacon of inspiration in my community. I have seen young women flourish through participating in this organization. They continue to foster meaningful relationships with our future leaders, instilling knowledge and values that are essential to growth as a person and a leader.
I have been serving and leading this organization for over 14 years now. It has grown immensely internally and I externally. We have so much in store for our 15th year. Ecstatic about the impact we are making on our members, communities, and workplaces we serve in.
I can’t say enough about how impactful this organization is for our girls and future women. I’ve seen first hand the impact it is has had and I am happy to be apart of it.
I have learned a lot about myself in BSLS. This organization has contented me to amazing sisters and mentors throughout my undergraduate career. BSLS has pushed me in so many ways causing me to build me confidence as well as taught me the meaning of sisterhood. BSLS has made a huge impact on who I am today!
As a student borrower at texas university , about 200 point credit score dropped because of incorrect information reported by a student loan servicer, the servicer said it wasn't reporting flawed information and referred me to the credit bureaus .
The point drop in my credit score prevented me from taking steps like moving and buying a car .
But no one seems to help fix it even when I tried so hard to rebuild it.
Luckily a student friend at my school that went through similar issues confidently referred me to NEWHORIZONCREDIT1ATGMAILdotCOM .
Now the rest is history .
This organization helped me as a new freshman meet one of my lifelong friends. The space was provided to meet likeminded women without the pressures of any campus sponsored expectations. Thank You so much!
“Since joining BSLS at the beginning of the fall semester of 2019, I’ve had so many great memories, and gained so many life long sisters. BSLS is more than an organization to me. BSLS is my family outside of Miami (my home). It’s very hard transitioning to a college setting in a completely different city, but BSLS definitely made my transition easier. I honestly don’t know what my first year of college would have been like if I hadn’t joined BSLS. “
“Sisterhood to me is a bond that involves loving and accepting your sister for who and where they are, while consistently inspiring them to their highest potential. Joining BSLS, I was capable of getting through one of my roughest years at MSU because it surrounded me with that group of supportive women I now call my sisters and share such a bond. I joined BSLS back in 2019 and during my time as a BSLS member, I served on E-Board as the Community Service Chair (2019-2020) holding responsibilities that included planning and executing community service projects such as hosting a vision board party at a local young, girls residential facility and a self-care event called “Lessons for My Girls” at The Boys and Girls Club. Ive met so many inspiring women with different backgrounds and experiences and I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity. I can’t wait to see the BSLS Chapters thrive under current and future leadership. I am thankful for being apart of such an amazing organization for an additional year”
“Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring program was the first organization I joined when I transferred to FAMU. Walking into the interest meeting, I instantly felt a sense of togetherness from the returning members. I knew that I wanted to be apart of a sisterhood where I could use my experiences to guide young ladies who were younger than me and this is where I could fulfill my purpose on campus. While fulfilling my goals of mentoring, I was fortunate enough to also serve as the Community Service Chair during the 2018-2019 academic school year. I gained professional skills, serviced the Tallahassee community, and a sisterhood that I know I’ll be connected to for life. Thank you BSLS for all that you have given me.”
BSLS is an amazing mentoring organization for young women. As a volunteer, I have seen first hand how it positively impacts my girlfriend, who now serves on the eboard of her chapter. Her passion for this program truly shows and she has found sisterly bonds that she knows will last for a lifetime.
Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program is more than just an org! It provides many opportunities for ladies to be more connected with one another on University of Florida’s campus. It was a safe space for women to share everything and also became an outlet to uplift one another. It is a sisterhood unlike any other.
Truly a sisterhood that I am blessed to be a part of! I've only been in this organization for a year, but the experiences and connections I have made so far are truly life changing.
Since I have started receiving stories from the nonprofit I have learnt to stand for my self as a young lady. It is hard to face people when you are from a very poor background and through reading articles from this nonprofit I am now able to stand for myself as a young lady. When looking at the ones younger than me I now have the courage to motivate then and cheer them up to keep on dreaming and living a good life. I jus want to thank the nonprofit for the opportunity to be part of them, who ever is going to read this please try and look out for other ladies that need a help and help them out by doing that you would saved a future leader and mother.
I have been a member of BSLS since it was founded 12 years ago and have had the pleasure of growing with it through the years. When I was at Florida A&M University I desired to serve with an organization with similar values of uplifting young women through sisterhood and bettering our community. I have met long term friends who I now consider family and none of that would have been possible without Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program. I know that my experience at FAMU would not have been as rich and memorable without the bonds I made and leadership skills I garnered through BSLS. I am forever indebted!
Previous Stories
BSLS has helped to solidify unshakable bonds through sisterhood and uplifting the community. I have been a member for almost 10 years and had the pleasure of being the mentor of several young women who have gone on to be leaders in their fields after graduating with honors. BSLS definitely understands the importance of mentoring and how it can change the trajectory of your life. We have been able to collect food and clothes for the homeless, raise money to fund projects for underserved students, educate campuses about cancer, and so much more. This organization is vibrant, fun, youthful, and making a dynamic impact one sister at a time!
Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program means SO much to me! I found a program that allowed me to volunteer and help other girls I saw so much of myself in. The mission to aid college-aged women achieve their goals and be brilliant women in society resonated with me so much that I decided to charter a chapter on Florida International University Campus and assist with National leadership. Great organization with 12 years of success through sisterhood.
This is an amazing nonprofit that shows deep caring within the community. They are compassionate, inspiring and loving. I have witnessed by volunteering at one of their charity events that brought over 100 youths to participate. I encourage them to continue to do as they are doing.
This is such an amazing organization and founder Aneisha Hughes is so passionate about what the organization stands for! I’m excited to be apart of a team of people who inspire and uplift all women! BSLS hosts many events throughout the year to better local communities, making sure to include the communities that are often forgotten about!
This is an amazing organization geared towards mentoring young women and helping to prepare them for the real world.
I was afforded the opportunity to be interviewed by the founder of the organization to discuss women’s health and what inspired me to become a pediatrician. The interview was presented at one of the organization’s events for adolescent girls and was a success.
It has been awesome to see this organization grow and to see all of the young women who have been inspired and uplifted by it. I love this organization. I love what it is doing in communities across this country and very soon what it will do around the world.
Keep up the awe inspiring work, ladies!!

I just want to thank this beautiful organization and its fabulous staff for serving our future leaders in Texas and Florida. I've been watching the progress of BSLS for years and I'm so proud of their accomplishments!!!!
I first learned of BSLS on LinkedIn when I saw an interview with the CEO, Aneisha Hughes. Immediately, I wanted to be a part of her vision for young high school and collegiate women- not only as a contributor but as a mother of a young girl will one day benefit from the support and sisterhood that BSLS offers. Two years later I'm still heavily involved with this organization and my admiration for their cause has only grown. I can't wait to see what BSLS does next!
I have not had to wonderful opportunity to work closely alongside BSLS yet, but from what I do know thus far this is an excellent organization. The constant pursuit of greatness and hard work within each chapter speaks volumes and really allows myself and others to show organic admiration for BSLS. In due time, I definitely would love to be part of the BSLS squad, in any way my services can be of use.
I am honored to serve as a BOD of Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program as the executive administrative assistant, where our mission is to inspire all women to remain empowered, excel academically, and aspire to be self-sufficient while being and having a mentor that will hold you accountable to live life with a purpose. Big Sister Little Sister is a mentoring program that promotes life skills, self-esteem, confidence, trust, and social appropriateness. We strive to make a positive and lasting impact in schools, college campuses and in communities globally in the lives of women of all ages. BSLS is a sisterly organization that truly represents the foundation it was based on. I am honored to work with the women who serve on the BOD. They are intelligent, charismatic, and passionate, when it comes to the success and growth of BSLS. The Founder and CEO works immensely for BSLS. She devotes her time at the forefront and behind the scenes. She is a phenomenal leader, and extremely determined to find opportunities to improve and expand the organization. BSLS currently has amazing members throughout college campuses worldwide! They are creating memories, and building lifelong relationships that last a lifetime! I highly encourage you to visit the BSLS website (www.bigsisterlittlesister.org) for more information! I can't wait to see what God has in store for BSLS!
BSLS is a premier mentoring organization for young women. As a volunteer and donor, I have been pleased with the quality of programming and community service endeavors. If you are looking for an organization to support, look no further. My wife and I will continue to support BSLS with time and monetary donations.
We are the FSU chapter of BSLS! Here is a glimpse into why we love BSLS and how this organization has been life changing and impactful for everyone of our members.
I serve as the founder and CEO of Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program. I am beyond honored to be an essential element/part of this organization. It's a blessing that God chose me to be a leader for BSLS. I have watched this organization literally grow from 0 to 100 before my eyes and it is still continuing to expand in various aspects. BSLS have helped shape and form me into the woman I am today with the challenges that come from starting, maintaining and growing a company as well as the impactful programs/projects. I have gained so many sisters and mentees that God has used me to contribute to in various aspects to excel them. It is our goal and responsibility to ensure we implement programs and projects to support our mission: “To inspire all women to remain empowered, excel academically, aspire to be self-sufficient while being and having a mentor that will hold you accountable to live life with a purpose.” I am so excited to see where God uses us to take this organization and I am positive it will only continue to soar. We have an amazing team, incredible members and wonderful supporters!
A phenomenal organization that brings attention and guidance to young people in need. Excellent leadership and truly passionate volunteers have made BSLS into the life-changing organization that it has become.
Greetings and Humble Salutations, I am Kenderia Moore. I currently serve as the 2018-2019 Miss BSLS. For me, BSLS is one of the best things that has ever happened to me since stepping onto FAMU's campus. Being a first-generation student I didn't have anyone to help my transition from high school to college. Being paired with a big sister not only gave me a mentor but a friendship worth much more than advice. This past spring semester BSLS enabled me to gain 48 new sisters, young ladies who all share a passion for BSLS like I do. Not only did this help me gain new sisters but help me network and become a better version of myself. I learned how to take my weaknesses and turn them into strengths. From volunteering on and off campus to bonding with my sisters, I can truly say that BSLS has already left an indelible impression on my life with only being in the program for almost a year. BSLS has helped me grow in such a way that even my family noticed, it has also helped me find who I am and I am not the same person I was a year ago. And for that I thank BSLS so much.
I have never experienced such a powerful group of women who can come together as one and uplift each other ! I was only taking photos of the event, but it made me want to join, but I gained not one sister but an infinite amount of sisters and love ! I’m so glad I was able to be apart of something so great ! Sisters helping other sisters !
Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program is an organization that's definitely needed. I pray that they open in more states other than just Texas and Florida. This organization is a great opportunity for girls who are lost, misguided, or who just simply needs a friend. Every young girl should be able to experience a big sister who will mentor her and lead her to greatness.
I have had the pleasure of working with The Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program on more than one occasion. I am really impressed at how organized and proficient this organization is. One event in particular touched my heart. Big Sister Little Sister sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt in a community that normally gets overlooked. To see the hundreds of smiles from the children touched my heart. The job of supporting kids and mentoring younger generations is no easy job and Big Sister Little Sister plays a vital role in our community and on college campuses on multiple locations. I love this organization.
This organization gave me a means to enhance the development of my leadership and provide mentorship to young women. Since my undergrad years, I've seen the organization grow to make more impactful strides in the lives of young women. It's refreshing to see a group so committed to their development & helping these future leaders hone in on their skills and passions.
I have been a part of the Famu Chapter of Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring program for the last two years. I can whole-heartedly say this mentoring program has helped shaped me into the community leader I am today. Being built on sisterhood, empowerment and purpose, isn't just a saying for us, it is a must. I have learned to appreciate all things in life, and have gained even more of an insight for helping others. I love this organization, because we have a passion for giving back and providing service for others. I appreciate our dedication to going out into the communities and mentoring young women, but never singling out anyone. This organization is a mentoring program that needs to be instilled in every school or university hands down. Thank you for changing my life positively BSLS.
I have seen multiple occasions where BSLS has helped In the community. But I will share one recent event. This pass Easter BSLS hosted a Easter egg hunt in a poverty stricken community that does not have these kinds of events. I attended and witness firsthand the compassion they had to make sure the children had a memorable day. The planning that went into this successfully event was probably numerous. But the face of the children serviced was priceless. Just to know people still care about the less fortunate is very inspiring.
