Causes: Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Children & Youth, Single Parent Agencies, Youth Community Service Clubs

Mission: BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS provides adult volunteer mentors to northern NJ children ages 5-18. Most come from single-parent homes and need strong role models. Each match is based on the needs of the child and interests of both the child and volunteer. Once a match is made, professional case managers provide advice, support and guidance to help the match grow. Big Brothers Big Sisters serves nearly 400 children, but there are 100 children on the waiting list --90 percent of them boys. Volunteers can apply to any of the agency's varied programs.Big Brothers Big Sisters is the largest and oldest mentoring organization in the United States. It will mark its 100th anniversary in 2004.
