On the corporate side of things, I would never sponsor Bideawee again. My small company donated thousands of dollars to sponsor their annual gala and was accidentally left out of the list of donors for the event and we were stuck at the very back corner table for the event. Horrible way to be treated.
Had a very bad experience with Jackie. Completely rude n unprofessional. Def would not recommend dealing with her
Best adoption/rescue around by far! Professional, caring, attentive & trustworthy.
They go the extra mile to make sure the adoptable pets are vetted and well matched.
Only the highest praise for an organization comprised of total pros and years of experience.
In 1953 my family adopted from Bideawee a tiny black puppy of unknown lineage and we named her Scamp. She was our family companion for about 5 to 6 years until February 1959. As my older brothers grew up and went off to college and I was nearing college age, my parents felt that Scamp had to be returned to Bideawee due to their inability to take care of her as the children left and they could not assume the responsibility themselves. The day Scamp left the house, I went out with friends - could not bear to see her go. When I came home, the dog dish and the little bed were gone, and the house felt so empty. Over the years, I felt a sense of guilt for not fighting to keep the little dog and that I abandoned her for my selfish desires. All my life I felt bad about losing her because my mother told me that on that February day, driving to Bideawee to surrender her, the little animal 'shook and shook and shook' - knowing that she was evicted from her home forever. To this day, I think of her and swore that I would never-ever abandon or turn over a pet except in their best interests to avoid pain and suffering or pass up an opportunity for a better life. I cry as I write this - 60 years later.
Over the years (over 30) I have adopted four cats from Bideawee and to me, the whole organization is about love. They love the little fuzzies. These are really, really good people. The shelter is no-kill and takes in a lot of harder cases, like old and sick dogs and cats who need the most help. Dr. Paar is the vet center is skilled, compassionate and honest-- What I want in a vet.
I have heard great things about Bide A Wee, and i have applied for their credit card so i can help more. I think its great that there are people out there that help animals so much, keep up the good work Bide A Wee, thank you for all you do! Brande
I can affirm the superb care provided at this no-kill shelter and hospital, having contributed monthly to its Paws of Hope program for several years. Bideawee communicates with supporters, for example with stories about individual animals brought for advanced veterinary care. Bideawee has numerous volunteer programs and arranges numerous adoption and fund-raising events. Hurricane Sandy forced Bideawee to evacuate to one of its facilities outside Manhattan; the evacuation was accomplished with the greatest care to all animals, including those in the midst of risky and sophisticated treatment. Bideawee saves and heals animals other shelters give up on or are forced to release, then finds them permanent homes. An established organization supported entirely by contributions, Bidewee deserves all possible recognition.
