In March 2009 a few days after my fourteen-year-old German Shepherd died, I adopted a little bichon-poodle girl. She'd been found on the streets of L.A. with no collar, no chip, not spayed, her hair so matted it had to be shaved off. She was probably 1-1/2 years old. I named her Cakes...Cakes was smart, loving, sweet, feisty, stalwart, beautiful. I was 74 years old, on my own, and Cakes kept me happily sound...we walked two miles every day, we cuddled, had fun together. What a gift from Bichons and Buddies! Just last Tuesday we had to send Cakes up to Heaven, it was her time. But she is, of course, still with me. If you're wondering what such a breed is like, know that bichon-poodles are a SUPER combination of the most desirable dog qualities.
An amazing organisation. Jeanine is a natural at placing the these precious dogs with the right owner and their forever home. Its a huge task not only the introduction, but the vet fees, grooming, time, calls, email's and organising fosters & transporters. Even booking flights for the little cuties is all part of keeping the non profit moving & saving more furry little lives.....
All this as well as working part time too!...
Great job Bichons & Buddies!
They are such a great rescue for pups. They step up to help when so needed. I have one of the pups they saved.
We adopted Elwood 9 years ago from Bichons and Buddies. When we first got him he had some pretty bad intestinal problems. Jeannie paid for all of his medications and vet visits until he was well. This took about a month. Elwood still wasn't adjusting and we considered bringing him back. Jeannine asked no questions and was happy to have us return him. We ultimately decided to keep him (best decision ever). Jeannie made it all so easy for us first time dog owners. We highly recommend them.
Almost 6 years ago, I went searching for a dog for my 90 year old mother who was in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. My dad was very ill, at the end of his life and she was lonely and had been asking for a pup for a long time. I made it my mission to find just the right dog to fit in with my ailing dad, his aides and my mom. In my search, I found Jeanine Curcione and Bichons and Buddies. I realized that we were not necessarily the average rescue applicant but Jeanine took on the challenge. When I discovered her website, she had just posted an impassioned plea about rescuing older dogs. That's exactly what I was looking for. An older dog who was trained, housebroken, good on a leash with a wonderful personality. I found Maury! 9.5 yo bichon who was an owner surrender. He was everything we were looking for and more. The absolute perfect fit! When my dad passed away, I moved in with my mom and brought my two cats with me. Maury took it all in stride and loved every one of us. We loved him back and for 5.5 years he brought pure joy and happiness into our lives.
Jeanine Curcione is the most caring, unselfish, giving, thoughtful woman who truly cares about the pups she rescues and the homes she places them in. This is the most worthwhile charity.
My husband and I adopted two dogs from Bichons and Buddies. We already had a female from a previous rescue, and both times Jeanine made sure it was a good fit for everyone. Bichons and Buddies truly cares about each dog they place and goes above and beyond when it comes to veterinary care and dogs who need a little extra help. We were so impressed with Bichons and Buddies that we began volunteering as a foster family and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. Amazing organization!
The founder of this dog rescue is caring, smart and thoughtful in running her nonprofit. Thank you, Bichon and Buddies for being a valuable part of our community.
I could go in for days about this organization. I’ve fostered with them on and off for nearly a decade and what amazes me more than anything is the commitment to the dogs they rescue. We have rescued a seemingly healthy dog who ended up needing $5k in surgery which was done with no hesitation. I admire Jeanine and this organization.
We’ve indirectly worked with B&B for years and are so impressed with the level of dedication in getting these dogs out of high-kill shelters and into loving and compassionate forever homes. We’ve helped get these dogs processed through Canada Customs and every one coming through has been a gem. Jeanine saves lives every day and gives these dear souls something they’ve always deserved—a home where people love and greatly value them as members of the family.
I volunteer walking dogs at Bichons and Buddies. I have seen them take in dogs that are so scared, they cower in the corner of their kennel; and I have watched the TLC change these dogs into loving and adoptable pets. They take on dogs with major medical problems and pay to help bring them to health....often receiving much less money than they put into them. Finally, I have seen so many people find their loving best friend, and we all take such joy in the pictures they send and the comments of how grateful they are for finding the perfect pet for the.
My 6 year old Chloe was adopted from Bichons and Buddies after being left at a high kill shelter for having epilepsy. I adopted Chloe, a bichon/poodle mix 2 years ago and her medication has been taken care of by this shelter ever since. I cannot speak more love of this rescue and all they do. Chloe has been such a loving addition to our family and we will be forever grateful to Bichon and Buddies for helping us ❤️
Got my Pixel 8 years ago this fall. With appropriate training he has developed into a wonderful loving dog. My life would not be as complete without him. Jeanne was so good about answering all my questions and shipping him to Canada.
I adopted Alvin shortly after Bichons and Buddies took him in, got him the medical care he needed as well as a good grooming. The founder of this organization gives selflessly for the best outcomes for the dogs she takes in. I continue to support this organization because I believe in their mission.

We adopted the sweetest guy named Alvin. Bichons and Buddies graciously took him in and got him to Seattle! We adopted him the day after he arrived in Seattle. He warms our hearts everyday. His personality and loyalty is stellar. This group works diligently to help their rescues out! Even though I obtained Alvin after he arrived to a partner rescue in Seattle I’m forever grateful Bichons and Buddies stepped up for this guy!
Bichons and Buddies has now placed me with two of the sweetest and cutest pups that ever graced the earth. Jeanine cares tremendously for the dogs she rescues — while also being pragmatic and wonderful to prospective adopters. In my experience, that’s a rare combo in this field.

Bichons and Buddies completed our family. Enzo, pre ious name Dillion, is happy, joyful, playful a great cuddler and likes to jump on our bed and sleep in his spot. Our lives would be so much less everything without him.
My husband and I had just lost one of our two dogs. Our Lab was terribly lonely. I found a dog at the B&B site I liked and the owner suggested we bring our lab to meet him. We did, but the little dog was afraid of us. The owner said she had another dog she thought would be perfect for us. She brought him out & he came bounding over to us, tail wagging. Jeanine has a gift for knowing which dogs are a match for which people. She also made sure we fostered Otis for several days before adopting him permanently to make sure we were the right home for him.
She really cares about each & every rescue!

Bichons & Buddies is one of the kindest, most dedicated & hard working rescue groups I have ever encountered. They use our Vet, so I know from him how many pets they have helped to save. Personally, Jeanine, the owner was amazing in helping us to find the perfect dog for us. She got to know us & what our lifestyle was & was very patient & thoughtful in matching us with our Otis. I recommend Bichons &Buddies 1000 %
We adopted Teddy from Bichons and Buddies in 2014. It was an easy and wonderful experience! Jeanine, the owner, is terrific! She is a real life hero!
I consider Teddy to be my "fur-st" child. He is the most loving, sweet, smart and wonderful dog in the world and I can't imagine life without him.
I've referred many people to Bichons and Buddies and will continue to do so!
I can't thank Jeanine and Bichons and Buddies enough for our Teddy!
Jeannine at Bichons and Buddies is a saint. She found our amazing Bichon, Ringo, in a high kill shelter in North Central a day away from being put down. She groomed and neutered him and made him look so adorable that we just had to adopt him. That was 9 years ago and he has brought joy to our lives ever day since. My children did some volunteer work over the years and this organization is so welcoming. They have also found dogs for multiple friends. Jeannine knows how to match the right dog in the right home so it's a great match.
I’ve traveled from Northern California to Bichon and Buddies twice to adopt dogs from them. They are caring and careful who they adopt to, and fully vet their dogs before adoption. I would not hesitate to adopt from them again and have recommended them several times.
Bichons and Buddies is a fantastic organization headed by the ever compassionate Jeanine and wonderful volunteers. They rescued my dog Eddy from a high kill shelter, he had been a stray and was in rough shape, no hair, mange and a black eye even. They cleaned him up and got him all the medical care he needed. Eventually he was fostered out to a Canadian rescue group, which is where I was lucky to find and adopt him, as Jeanine works tirelessly to spread the word far and wide, and to do what it takes to find these dogs loving forever homes, wherever that may be. When we were interested in finding another dog for our pack we contacted Jeanine.
As I am actually allergic to dogs, I needed to find another low/non shedding small dog. Because Bichons and Buddies primarily rescues small and many times low/non shedding dogs, they are a rare find in the world of dog rescues, allowing people like me to be able to live the dream of having a dog, one that is rescued and needing a loving home, not bred for monetary gain. Many people with allergies could provide a wonderful home to a little non shedding dog but do not want to pay a breeder thousands of dollars to perpetuate an industry they don’t agree with, yet have a very hard time finding low or “hypoallergenic” dogs in shelters or rescue groups.
Jeanine’s non stop efforts to fit the right dogs with the right forever homes ended with me going down to LA to adopt our second pup Apple, whom she had pulled from a high kill shelter, after medical help and being fostered by her volunteers she knew we were the right family for this dog. Eddy and Apple are now best friends, healthy and full of joy and live a truly blessed life in Canada. Our whole family loves them to death.
Jeanine works tirelessly and often at her own expense to save the lives of desperate dogs who deserve to live beautiful lives and to find the perfect family for them. Cannot recommend enough.
This review is all the way from Alberta, Canada from a very grateful adoptee of one of Bichon & Buddies Rescue. He is the love of our family & we will be forever grateful for the opportunity of having him be part of our family. It has been 5 years now & life just keeps getting better with our furbaby Rudy. I will try & add a photo taken recently of our 3 year old granddaughter bonding with Rudy ❤️ Such a precious moment. It is only through a non profit like Bichon & Buddies that these precious pups are given a second chance.

We adopted our fiercely handsome poodle cross from Bichons and Buddies March 2012 & truly believe that it was one of the luckiest days of our lives. I don't know what it is about rescue dogs that make them the most loving dogs on the planet, maybe they have loved & lost and are so ever grateful for another chance. Jeanine is truly a dedicated founder of this organization & has saved many precious lives, we are blessed to have our puppy Rudy as part of our "Fur Family"& will be forever grateful!!!! Sissons Family from Canada
We adopted our beloved springerdoodle through this organization and they were thoughtful, caring and professional at every step of the way. Best rescue org in town!
In Spring 2008, we were looking to adopt a nonshedding family dog to bring into our family of four, which included boys age 3 and 5.
We were introduced to Jeanine at Bichons and Buddies, who had us fill out an application form and interviewed us. She said she would keep a look out for a family dog that would be great with kids.
A few weeks later, the phone rang. Jeanine wanted us to meet a 2.5 year old bichon/poodle mix, "Angelina", who she had rescued from the Ventura Animal Control Center. Angelina was emaciated and scared, tail tucked between her legs, but Jeanine saw her potential.
We brought Angelina home for an overnight trial and fell in love. She had extremely bad kennel cough, couldn't smell, could barely eat, but it was clear that she desperately wanted love and attention. We called Jeanine asking if Angelina had been de-barked, because she never barked. Jeanine said "she's just sick - she will get better."
For the first two days, our little sick Angelina simply cozied up in our 3 year olds lap whenever she could. When he pet her gently, you could just see the genuine appreciation in her eyes for the attention and care.
In about a week, Winnie wagged her tail for the first time with us. In about a month, she barked for the first time A few weeks after that she learned to chase a ball. Her hair grew out, and she became the sweetest, most loyal dog you could ever imagine adopting.
Several years later, our son was laid up on the couch with a cold. Nothing serious, but Angelina was now returning the favor, and she sat in his lap, cheering him up. I took a second pic, both attached.
This is just our story, but Bichons and Buddies is responsible for 100s if not 1000s of these stories.
Thank you Jeanine. Thank you Bichons and Buddies!
I had the good fortune to work side by side with Jeanine for 7 years as one of her volunteers for Bichons and Buddies. During that time, I probably spoke to Jeanine every day and spent a minimum of 10 hours per week working side by side with her. Never once did I witness her commitment to saving every dog ever wane. Regardless of how exhausted or overworked she was, she would do whatever was needed to benefit the welfare of her dogs. Rescuing dogs is her life's mission. Unlike many many rescues Jeanine saves the dogs that are injured, unhealthy and elderly. She will do whatever is needed to bring a dog back to health. I have seen her take home dogs and spend hours upon hours nursing a dog back to health. Moreover, she commits to the dogs she rescues for life. She has aided adopters who have struggled from unexpected financial and medical issues; she has re-homed dogs that have been given up due to divorce; her dogs and her adopters are her number one priority. She accomplishes this while also holding down a demanding full time job. Jeanine truly is a miracle worker and the world of is a better place because of her.
We rescued three females from Bichon and Buddies and we couldn’t be happier. We now have five bichons named the Moo’s. Jeannie really cares about these beautiful little dogs . She makes sure that these rescues go to the right homes that will give the dogs all the love and care they deserve .
Four years ago I was looking to adopt a Yorkie. As fate would have it, I ran across the photo of the cutest little girl who was dropped off at the Carson shelter and rescued and cared for by Bichons and Buddies. You could tell their dogs were well taken care of. The staff was very professional. They were also understanding enough to let me foster the dog for a week to make sure she and my cat would get along. They really seemed to cared about placing their dogs with the right owner. Needless to say it was love at first site for all.
I cannot begin to tell you how much Bichons and Buddies means to me! A little over 2 years ago, I adopted my sweet Rosie from them after they rescued her and many other dogs from a hoarding situation in Palm Springs in the dead of summer. The conditions were horrible and there was hardly any water. Rosie had lost a litter of puppies and was nursing a dog she "adopted" when they rescued her. When they first brought her to the vet, she did not look well. She had an infected eye, an infected mass on her ear, a hernia, a broken jaw and was half the weight she should be for her size. But she was a fighter and Bichons and Buddies ensured that she got the best care, which included placing her with a loving and nurturing foster mom who nursed her back to health. By the time I adopted her 6 weeks later, she had had 5 surgeries, including the removal of her eye. Yet she was the strongest, most loving being I had ever met. And from the moment I adopted her, Bichons and Buddies has continued to help in any way possible and have been an invaluable resource for advice and support. They've even covered vet visits and her recent dental surgery needed for her pre-existing broken jaw. But even beyond that, when my Rosie was diagnosed with aggressive mammary cancer in March, they were there every step of the way, sending articles, referrals, helping with expenses that her insurance didn't cover and they even paid for a consult with a homeopathic doctor. They have truly gone above and beyond anything I could have expected when I first adopted Rosie. And now, I am happy to report that my sweet girl is cancer free and thriving!!!!! And all because Bichons and Buddies took a chance on this scrappy, sick love bug 2 years ago. She loves me, food, car rides, food, belly rubs, people, food, her ball, food and visits with her foster mom! Bichons and Buddies is truly a GREAT nonprofit!
In 2015 I lost my Dad to COPD. A month after he passed, my dog Bozley had to be put down. Needless to say it was an awful time in my life.
I was on Facebook and saw two dogs on the Bichons and Buddies page.
I called Jeannine who was so sweet and helpful.
I filled out the application for the two boys and not even five hours later I was introduced to Andy and Travis. I took them home the same night and I can't even begin to express how much they have lightened up my life.
It's been three years since they rescued me and I can't thank Bichons and Buddies enough.
Words can not express my appreciation to Jeanine and Bichons and Buddies for the work they do. I wouldn't have my lovable, funny handsome little Harry ( Harpo) if it weren't for them. I am blessed every day by his presence and unconditional love. Thank you , thank you, thank you.

I live in Nashville Tn. and my elderly aunt fell and broke her hip and shoulder. While she was in the hospital I contacted Bichons and Buddies through a rescue friend. I needed a foster for her 2 Chihuahuas that had been boarding for 3 weeks so I could fly out there and drive them back with me and her car. Thanks to the dedication and love this rescue has for all these dogs in need, I was able to coordinate the transport and safe return of the dogs AND my aunt! They would have went to the pound and potentially been euthanized.....After 3 months they are all reunited and thriving again! Thank you for all you do!!
I have had dogs my entire life. I spent several years volunteering for a Golden Rescue. My experience with Bichons & Buddies was fantastic. Truffles now 9 years has been the sweetest dog in my life. I’m so grateful for him and Bichons and Buddies! Bichons and Buddies took care of his neuter, his initial dermatology. He is my cuddled, kisser, spooner, & best boy ever! The happiest boy and fantastic dog brother to 2 large sheepdogs who passed away and now a young small rescue from Thailand. 10 stars to Bichons & Buddies & Truffles AKA Prada my live teddy bear ❤️
I initially contacted Jeanine in the summer of 2017 with an interest in rescuing a pup. Through her affective questioning and selection process I was able to meet my sweet dog, Sia. Jeanine was accommodating, thoughtful and knowledgeable about what my needs were and matchd me with just the perfect dog. I will be forever grateful to her and the work that she does.
i live in Halfmoon Bay BC, Canada. I came upon Bichon and Buddies one night while online. I was so touched by the stories and the dogs i really wanted to give one of their rescues a home. I contacted Bichon and Buddies and got the process started. I saw a few photos of dogs and with the help of Jennine decided which dog would be the best match for me. I adopted Mr. Lo aka Milo..(formally Porter). B &B had Mr. Lo flown up to Vancouver where i picked him up. B and B was well organized and getting Mr. Lo to Vancouver couldn't have been easier.
Mr. Lo has been the best dog..he makes me laugh everyday and i am so thankful B & B saved him from the shelter. He has an awesome life here on the coast with his fur siblings and I can tell he is grateful for the loving home he landed up in! B and B does amazing work and without them many amazing dogs would not be able to go on and live the happy lives they deserve. I am grateful for the work they do...and i am grateful for my wonderful little Mr. Lo!
7 years ago B&B rescued “Nova” off the streets/owner surrender it said & Ginger’s Rescue from Seattle flew him up here to Seattle where we met him. If it hadn’t been for B&B, the World (more importantly my husband & I) would have never experienced Kava Bear! The World’s Best, most patient, loving, athletic dog who is a Wags to Riches story (street to catwalk). He loves boating, swimming, fetch, the beach, playing in the sprinklers, has done some modeling, SUP boarding, hiking, biking, snuggling, dressing up, you name it he is game! He is quite smart as well: knows sit, stay, leave it, cookies, stretch & speaks as well: bedtime, wake-up, show us what you want (scratches with his paw, paws up, use your words, how was your day, etc. if it wasn’t for organizations like B&B, a truly amazing dog would not be pictured below. Kava Bear represents what can happen when you take a chance on a rescue dog and what you will gain in the end. He is a perfect example of why B&B does what it does so that these amazing dogs can have a chance & we can experience these grateful dogs. Thanks again for doing what you do!!
Kava has his own instagram @kava_and_kolach
We have two not just great but incredible dogs Harper & Kai because of Bichon and Buddies. The care they put into rescuing the dogs that do not seem to have a chance is beyond words. Harper was saved by Bichon and buddies and they provided him with a needed hip surgery and physical Tharapy. We have had him for years with no further complications and everyone says how he is just the most amazing Dog ever. Kai also was saved and had to recover from a broken arm. Not as complicated of a story as Harper but both not easy rescues but incredible loving dogs to my husband myself and our 3 year old. Not only has the rescue found us our amazing family. They help us solve any problem he have run into along the way even years later. I must say best rescue ever!!! Thank you.
Bichons and Buddies provided my aging father with 2 dogs who have kept in company and loved him during his progression of dementia. Both dogs are unofficial service dogs in my opinion as I believe my father needed them to stay alive. I recommend Bichons and Buddies to anyone who needs a dog.
After 5 wonderful years with Winnie, she suddenly became acutely ill and died with renal failure. Bichons and Buddies had made sure Winnie and I were a good match, before placing her with me. The organization doesn't just move puppies/dogs along so to speak. They make certain that their 'forever' home is just that -- forever. In time, I will be ready to rescue another pup, and when that time comes, B+B will be my only 'go to' organization.
Thanks sooooo much for going beyond the basics to make certain those dogs are entrusted to their 'forever homes'.

This is a very special organization. I have had dogs my entire adult life and when my previous dog had to be put down, I looked for another bichon. Well, to make a long story short, I've had Winnie now for 3 years. Bichons and Buddies had her flown up to the Seattle area with 5 other similar rescue dogs. Her former life had left her 'dull' and rather apathetic, but B+B saw the promise in her eyes and saved her. She's blossomed into a warm and friendly companion. Thank you for seeing beyond the matted hair and dull expressions - these pups now have wonderful forever homes.
I can’t thank this organization enough. My baby Francis, I’ve had for over 5 years. I adopted Francis (a grey 10lb terrier) a little over 5 years ago and she’s the light of my life.
Bichons and Buddies changed our lives 7 years ago! We decided to adopt a dog during a disappointing time of not being able to have kids. We went first to another organization, found a dog we loved, applied, waited two weeks while preparing and getting excited, then found out they picked someone else! So I saw Happy’s picture ( then named “Cookie”) on the Bichons and Buddies website, and we drove up to meet her. Staff was so friendly and encouraging, different from our other experience where we were asked to prove why we were good enough to adopt a dog. We met Happy and fell in love, their description of her personality on the website matched perfectly. We expected to apply and wait as we had before, but one hour after we arrived, we drove home with Happy! She went to work with me each day for a long time and the atmosphere in the office became much more stress free! She’s been the most gentle, loving, affectionate dog and the perfect companion for our two kids who eventually came along. We are so thankful to Bichons and Buddies for rescuing her!
Bichon’s and Buddies gave us our best friend in 2014, a Lhasa Apso/Shih-Tzu/Poodle mix named Choochoo! Until we met Choochoo and the Bichons and Buddies staff, we weren’t even sure we wanted a dog. But Bichons and Buddies confirmed that we did. When we adopted Choochoo, he had a nasty case of kennel cough. Janine was so helpful and professional, taking Choochoo back for a few days to nurse him back to health. Bichons and Buddies truly wanted to make sure Choochoo was the best match for our family, and we couldn’t imagine a life without him. They are an amazing organization that rescues so many dogs and gives them wonderful homes. They take care of their dogs to the maximum of their ability.
I needed a dog that could be trained to be a therapy dog, and they knew which one would be perfect. Cotton has been a certified therapy dog for over four years. It was wonderful match, he has a bubbly personality.
I adopted a dog from bichons and buddies 12 years ago. He lived with us providing love to our lives. We hiked together, walked, played, and generally had great times till he passed away last year. Jeanine from bichons and buddies does a magnificent job rescuing dogs and finding homes for them. Since Ollie died I have been volunteering alittle to help her with this great organization.
I volunteered awhile back and I can say that Jeneane, who runs Bichons and Buddies, is one of the kindest, most compassionate dog lovers around and so deserving of this award. She vets every potential adopter to make sure that every dog goes to a safe, happy home. When I found a Bichon wandering the streets in a nasty part of downtown LA, I immediately called Bichons and Buddies and she offered to take Lucca in, but I decided to keep him for myself. (And I'm so glad I did!!)She didn't hesitate for a second. So there you have it!
We got our beautiful girl Mia from bichons and buddies. She was given up by a family who couldn't keep her and then returned by another family because she didn't get along with their dog. Thanks to bichons and buddies Mia has a great home with her brother Nicky. They are inseparable.
Both of my dogs were rescued by Bichons And Buddies. I got Eddy Spaghetti first, he had been rescued from a high kill shelter by BnB and was sent to Victoria BC and Dog Bless rescue in the hopes of finding his forever home. She often sends her rescues to other trusted rescues around North America to broaden their chances of finding loving forever homes for them. When he was at the shelter in LA he was a mess, mange and no hair and scabs and even a black eye somehow. BnB got him all fixed up and healthy and when I got him I just fell IN LOVE. I am allergic to dogs but was determined to get a dog and a rescue dog at that. Which means I would be looking for a small, Maltese/poodle/terrier mutt type as those dogs are typically less allergenic. But there are not loads of organizations that specifically rescue these types. Hence I found Bichons and Buddies. Eddy was immediately absolutely my best friend and beloved fur baby of my whole family. He has traveled all over Canada, loves car rides, loves salmon, loves chilling in the dog buggy listening to 90’s hip hop and sleeps as close to your face as possible. But after 6 years of being an only child, we thought Eddy needed his own dog. And so we went to Bichons and Buddies to find the perfect dog for him. At first we were going to adopt a different dog, a little black one, but after getting to know that dog, Jeanine didn’t think it would be the right fit for our family, so that weekend she pulled a little girl mop from a high kill shelter named Twinkie with us in mind. After getting her all spayed and up to date on shots. She held her for us for 2 weeks before I could pick her up. Now named Apple, she is the total light of day, happy and crazy and hilarious and Eddy Spaghetti is OBSESSED with her. They ADORE each other. He taught her how to be a dog and they play like maniacs together, he protects her at the park and they cuddle and eat together and it’s actually so cute no one can handle it. Jeanine and Bichons and Buddies are THE BEST. She cares so much about the dogs he rescues and finding THE RIGHT people for them. Jeanine has worked for a very long time on her own hours with her own money to make life a beautiful thing for helpless scared animals and she works so so hard to make all these sad little dogs happy and healthy and find them homes where they will be treasured forever. Like mine. 1000 stars and 15 thumbs up. I recommend over over again to anyone that’s interested in rescuing a little dog.
We love Bichons and Buddies. After losing our beloved dog of 15, we were apprehensive that we could ever love another dog. A few months pass, and my then 7 year old twin boys really wanted another pet. I reached out to Bichons and Buddies and told them I was looking for a 3 year oldISH who was potty trained and good with kids. They called me back a week later with a dog that was being surrendered to them. Enter Nacho. He came to our house for a play date, and never left. He is a part of this family, and my boys love him like a brother. Thank you, Bichon and Buddies for helping us meet Nacho. I really don't know who rescued who.
I have fostered, adopted and volunteered with this wonderful group that has had so many happy ever after stories for dogs that otherwise wouldn't have been given a chance at a new life. Such amazing work and sacrifice!
I support Bichons and Buddies because of their good work in finding new forever homes for so many dogs. They rescue dogs who would otherwise have no chance and provide them with medical care and placement in loving homes.
My husband and I worked with Bichon and Buddies for 6-12 months, fostering their dogs. We fostered about 6 of their dogs before falling in love with our last foster dog, Fred, and decided to keep him. We are forever grateful to Bichon and Buddies for their work with dogs, finding them homes. Without them, our family would still be be incomplete.
I had a fabulous experience adopting Lola (formerly Rubi) Lola was starving to death on the streets of Mexico and was saved by Bichon & Buddies, they put her on a plane to Boston, I met her at the airport and she is just a wonderful dog that wags her tail 24/7! Thank you Bichon and Buddies for saving my little girl.
I have been fortunate to find two boy dogs through Bichons and Buddies. First in 2010 when Buster joined the family and again in 2014 (I believe) when we got Barney. They are living happily with Coco who we had previously and my life would be empty without them.
In 2010 when I was looking for another boy I stopped by the Culver City location and they had the perfect match. While I was sitting down playing with a recent arrival who was not ready for adoption, in came Buster and he climbed in my lap and pretty much told me he was ready to go home with me. Coco came to meet him a little later (her approval was mandatory) and we made it official. We had a similar story with Barney a few years later when we had a new house and room for a third dog we knew exactly where to go.
B&B has changed my live and given me the kids I would not have otherwise had and I am forever grateful. As a bonus they hooked me up with a groomer in the valley that I could afford with the added dog. Daniel M. Van Nuys Ca
I am a volunteer with a county shelter. Numerous times I personally have called bichons and buddies to rescue dogs from here. Many are medical that they have NEVER turned down. Many lives are saved. By them
Bichons and Buddies are the best. I had the pleasure of working with them after I lost my last dog. They opened their facility for me on Christmas Day and I adopted the love of my life, BeBe. I've had my share of other rescue groups, even fostered a few for a while. No other compares with Bichons and Buddies' commitment and genuine passion for what they do.
3 years ago, I contacted Bichons and Buddies about a potential adoption. I live 500 miles from the he organization, I was concerned about adopting sight unseen. Jeanne assured me that if it did not work she would help relocate the pups. Not only was she in frequent contact, she arranged transportation, medicine, and full instructions on the pups we adopted. The two"boys" we took in were a bonded pair running the streets of LA. They have become the joy of our lives, and would not be with us without the effort that was made by Bichons and Buddies to make the long distance adoption happen. We are forever in their ( her ) debt. Lorrie (Sparky & Tuck)
My husband and I adopted our poochon Abby from Bichons and Buddies 3 years ago. She was in a foster home and is the greatest little girl. Bichons and Buddies was willing to allow for her adoption even though we lived in Arizona. We live in a small town so there isn't any rescues for small dogs in our area. Most rescues allow only local adopters so we were pleasantly surprised when we were told we could take her home. They followed up with us to make sure Abby was in the right place and was happy and healthy. We have recommended them to quite a few of our friends.
My kids and I are allergic to animals. So we looked up the different types you can have for our type of environment. I came across B&B. They set up a special meeting with me to come meet the dogs and taught us different things about them. We were able to interact with our baby and get to know him. They are well trained dogs. We were able to contact the organization any time we had questions about him. All his information and papers were given to us when we walked out the door. They are absolutely amazing with the dogs. We are so blessed to have a bichon buddy. They have not only saved this little guy from the streets they have also saved me and given all of us a chance of a happier life with each other. This organization is truly a blessing.
And to think our rescue came allll the way from Ensenada, Mexico! How Jeanine and her crew manage to save dogs from so far away is beyond me! But the joy she has brought to our family is so great! Everyday we love Bear (Carino) more and more, if that is even possible! On December 4, it will be our 2 year anniversary with Bear. Bichons and Buddies web site is great and easy to check for a possible 2nd dog someday in the future. Jeanine and Bichons and Buddies is a great top notch group dedicated to finding dogs their forever home. I will always love them for what they have given to my family!!!
What a fabulous top-notch A1 rescue Bichons and Buddies is! We love our Truffles (Prada). So grateful that B & B rescue pulled our baby from a high kill shelter 5 years ago. He is totally spoiled and such a happy boy. I have a great respect for Jeanine and highly recommend Bichons and Buddies as much as possible. Bichons and Buddies is an honest, ethical group which is rare in Southern California. I totally support and stand behind Jeanine and Bichons and Buddies.
We adopted our little Brodie (Macaroon) in December 2013! If it wasn't for Jeanine and her team at Bichons and Buddies, he wouldn't be here today! He had been viciously attacked by two other dogs and brought into the San Bernardino shelter. He was all scarred up and a mess...he was kept in the back in the medical area of the shelter so he didn't even have a chance to be seen for adoption...his days were numbered. Jeanine came to his rescue and pulled him from the shelter! She gave him a second chance with life, a chance to find love in a furever home! Brodie now lives with us on Vancouver Island, BC and has an amazing life! He is the most loving little dog!!! He loves to give love...and we love him so much! He is perfect in every way! It breaks my heart to think he would have been put down, after everything he went through! Jeanine is truly an angel for saving Brodie, and so many dogs like him! Even though we live so far away in Canada, Jeanine is always so supportive, caring and compassionate whenever we chat! We think Bichons and Buddies is so amazing, we even created a facebook group fan club with the local alumni dogs that were adopted through Bichons and Buddies!
Thank you Jeanine and team, for all that you do...making a difference for each dog that you rescue and changing their world forever!
I adopted my dog Miles April 2014. He is the love of my life! He was with a hoarder before and was with Bichon And Buddies for a month. He was so happy that he was saved you could tell in his eyes. Jeanine and her staff were so friendly and took such great care of all dogs at their facility. I'm so blessed to have Miles in my life and thank them with all my heart.
I rescued Raji from Bichons & Buddies in July. I had gone to 5 different rescues, and thought the Jeannie and her team were so professional and truly cared about all the dogs there. best decision I've ever made. Raji is a great addition to our family.
Bichon and Buddies is the most amazing place. Jeannie is truly an angel. We found the dog of our dreams here 4 years ago. The web site was so easy to use. We had a 5 year old so needed to make sure we got a dog who would work in our family. Jeannine did all the tests with our Ringo to make sure he would never act aggressively with my daughter. And he never has. He has been the best dog in the world. We fell in love the minute we went there to meet him. She boards the dogs she rescues at a groomers so they are all beautiful, chipped and fixed. They made our life so easy. She really does look far and wide to find the best dogs. We keep donating year after year because we are so grateful at what Ringo has done for our family. Our Ringo has given my children a sense of responsibility and how to care for an animal that relies on us for everything. Most of all he's worked his way into each of our hearts in a special way and we cannot image our lives without him. Thanks Bichons and Buddies. Keep up the great work!
Jeanine along with the Bichon and Buddies connect beautiful sweet dogs with their forever families. Their website is easy to use and you can read a little bio of each of the pets up for adoption. I drove down an hour away from home to get my little guy Hank (Clancy) where one of the volunteers was able to give me more information about him. Five***** to this awesome goup!
The work that Jeanine and the rest of the B&B team does is truly one of a kind. They have provided us with one of the greatest gifts of our lives and also ended the struggle of a homeless dog. To call them heroes in an understatement, truly they are angels walking around.
With Bichons and Buddies, what you see is what you get; an honest organization that does the impossible to find secure, safe, forever homes for homeless pets. Their facility is great but instead of giving us all the bells and whistles with an over the top facility they put all their finances to the care of the dogs (grooming, massive medical bills, flea control, beds, food, toys and leashes). They take all the “unwanted” dogs, those ready for euthanasia, the sick and broken, the unloved, the scared and provide them with the biggest gift of all; a second chance, a chance to be loved and love.
Their adoption process is such a great and supportive one. They are not there to push any dog on you for the sake of getting them adopted, they make you feel comfortable, give suggestions, and in the end you make the decision. After you adopt, you have this sense of kinship because the moment your dog settles in you can’t believe your heart could any bigger. It’s magic.
Our previously rescued dog gained a sister and we gained bigger hearts.
If anyone belongs on your Top-Rated list, it's Bichons and Buddies.
I adopted my sweet Hayley from Bichons and Buddies this last July. I have also fostered for Bichons and Buddies. I loved working with them. The staff was kind and so helpful. I knew when I was going to adopt my second dog, that I wanted to go through Bichons and buddies. I knew they took excellent care of their dogs and really wanted to place each dog with the right family.
We adopted our dog Polly from Bichons and Buddies on Halloween of 2011. Small dogs are hard to find on Vancouver Island if you're looking for a rescue dog, so we looked online and found a link to B&B. Polly had been turned in with life-threatening health issues. They took her to the vet and had her surgery done, and when she was healthy enough she was flown up to Canada to join us. She is the most wonderful dog we could imagine, and we can't thank Jeanine enough for saving her and all the other dogs B&B rescues. She was so much help in guiding us through the process and making it as easy as possible for us. We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience.
I adopted a precious little Maltese/Bichon mix from Bichons and Buddies in 2007. I didn't know how profoundly affected I would be by bringing that little dog into my life. I have often felt that I was the one rescued when I brought my little Gucci home. I have watched Jeannine over the years work tirelessly to save dogs from "high kill" shelters, placing them with people who provide loving homes. Bichons and Buddies will rescue sick and injured dogs that would not survive without their intervention. They provide the medical care and love they need. They nurse these helpless little creatures back to health until they can go into a loving home. On Facebook, I see an endless stream of adoptive parents who, like me, have found these special little dogs have given us much more than we could ever give them. I've volunteered and donated and tried whenever possible to help raise funds so that Bichons and Buddies can continue their work. I know that it takes an incredible amount of love and personal sacrifice to do what this organization does. If any organization belongs on your Top-Rated list, it's Bichons and Buddies.
We were looking for a Bichon and found this organization on the Internet They had pictures of all the cuties with a description of each. Their site is extremely easy to navigate. Anyway, I found him!! I called immediately and they advised they were having an open house on Saturday (it was Thursday) and he like all the others would adopt out fast. We jumped in the car and drove the 21/2 hours and the three of us, my husband, myself And Dylan fell in love. He was everything we ever wanted and he needed us as much as we needed him.
He has been our baby since day 1 and that was 31/2 years ago.
Without this wonderful organization of caring and loving people there would be more doggies on the streets. Jeannie and her staff will rescue on a moments notice.they love and care for these little nuggets.
My husband and I adopted a bichon female in 2009 and returned to adopt another dog. We are very happy with our dog Phoebe. She is such a blessing and a bundle of energy. Bichons and Buddies were great at allowing us to see all the dogs available and educated us on how to live with other rescues which we have three in total. I have recommended them to family and friends. They are very professional, patient and courteous. And most of all they take good care of their dogs. :)
Bichons and Buddies are doing a fine work rescuing dogs and finding great home for the dogs.
The dogs are bring great joy to the families that receive them.
Bichon and buddies is a wonderful organization that brought my husband and I to our baby, a maltipoo. In our search for the perfect dog they were able to describe each dogs personalities and history without searching a database. A tremendous amount of love and carre goes to each dog. They were also there if we had questions once we brought our doggie home. Love them!
This group is extremely dedicated to their cause and goals. They have the passion and energy with what they do and are currently doing.
Two and a half years ago we adopted our dog from Bichons and Buddies. Although we live in Victoria, B.C. Canada, the process went very smoothly. Jeanine Curcione took the time to find a match for our family and then arranged to have our new family pet flown first to Vancouver and then on to Vancouver Island. Jeanine arranged for a volunteer in Vancouver to meet Arby at the airport, fill out the customs paperwork and keep him company while they waited for the connecting flight. Arby arrived healthy and happy having been looked after by volunteers every step of the way. There was great communication before and after. There are many other families in the area who have adopted dogs from Bichons and Buddies and we have formed our own local alumni group!
Bichons and Buddies is a warm and welcoming rescue. When I arrived to meet the dogs, Jeanine made sure I got to know them (she lent me her office for 45 minutes while I played with the dogs) and she had some thoughtful recommendations about which dogs I might connect with. I finally picked my dog Ziggy, who was being treated for fleas, and so she gave me medication and supplements to assist with the remainder of treatment. Aside from the difficulty of choosing just one dog when I wanted to love all of them, the adoption process was smooth and easy. In the time following, I have been keeping up with Jeanine and Bichons and Buddies through email updates with photos, which are reposted by the Bichons and Buddies' facebook page in adorable paw-print framed graphics. There is a great little community there, and even some alumni groups have formed! I'll always be grateful to this organization for rescuing the love of my life, Ziggy!
We adopted a Bichon Poodle mix in December 2011. My husband and I were looking for a non-shedding dog due to his allergies and we stumbled upon Bichons and Buddies via Petfinder. Once we checked out their website and saw a picture of our now Pickles, we fell in love and had to have him right away. Jeanine met us on a Sunday night to allow us to meet him. Although she had recently saved him from a Lancaster shelter and he was not yet neutered, she carefully helped us through the process and always answered our emails and phone calls right away.
Three years later, Jeanine also helped us when we found 2 stray dogs. She allowed us to post one of the dogs on her website and to house the other in her facility. Luckily both dogs found amazing permanent homes. This organization is truly something special and we will always support the outstanding work they do.
Bichon and Buddies is the benchmark non-profit organization with regards to the saving of abandoned dogs. Jeanine was professional and responsive during our contacts with her. Her volunteers were very caring and were able to match us with the perfect dog. We have had Gus for 3 months now and he has become an important member of our family. We have and will continue to recommend Bichon and Buddies to our friends and family members who are looking to adopt.
We adopted Willis, a cockapoo rescue with distemper, from B&B and are so happy. Willis was in quarantine but was being walked when we were walking one of several of the dogs we checked out on the website. He hadn't had any of the nervous system symptoms and was in treatment. He stole our hearts and my daughter knew he was the one. We knew there was a risk but he was so loving and gentle and came home with us as foster family, now we adopted him.
He is now gaining weight and playful and loving life and improving every day. Jeannine has been by several times to make sure he is improving and always helps us out with questions and suggestions. We were impressed with all the dogs we could meet and walk and try to get to know. The staff was very helpful and you really know that they love the dogs they are caring for. They helped us getting set up for caring for Willis and were always helpful if we had questions.
We have been blessed and our lives have been changed due to our interaction with Jeannine Curcione and Bichons & Buddies. We adopted Luci, a very special, special needs Bichon in 2002. She came to us after Jeannine rescued her and stayed with her during her surgeries for a leg amputation and kidney removal. Luci was on her way to be euthanized when rescued by Jeannine. We didn't think Luci would live past a year but was with us for several wonderful years. She enriched and changed our lives. Lucy never forgot Jeannine, and when she would come to visit us, Luci always remembered her.
We now have another family member named Maddie that we adopted through Jeannine. It is our understanding that Maddie was difficult to place, We think she is also very special and are grateful that she is with us today. Thank you to Jeannine Curcione and Bichons & Buddies.
Bichons and Buddies is an outstanding organization that saves the lives of 100's of abandoned dogs each year. They work tirelessly around the clock. I am enormously satisfied with their professionalism and integrity, as well as their passion for the health and safety of the dogs in their care.
