Mission: Beyond Borders promotes justice and peace by building understanding across economic and cultural lines. The work of Beyond Borders takes shape primarily between Haiti and the United States, primarily in the areas of non-traditional education, children's rights, and literacy. Even though these two nations are separated by a flight of less than two hours, the economic distance that divides them could hardly be greater. The gap between Haiti and the U.S. mirrors the growing gulf between the privileged and powerless worldwide and testifies to the brokenness and injustice of our world. It is in this great chasm that Beyond Borders works, building understanding and solidarity between the wealthy and the poor. As we do, we discover a surprising truth, that the materially poor are often very rich spiritually, culturally, and communally. We also learn that wealthy people are often poor in non-material ways. But as people on each side of the economic divide begin to relate and share in each other's lives they are strengthened in their struggle to find meaning and build a world where God's peace and justice reign. (Following the immigration paterns of thousands of Haitians seaching for a better life, Beyond Borders has started expanding our work into the Dominican Republic and Miami this year.)

Beyond Borders has been working in Haiti for over 18 years - working alongside Haitians on a grassroots level. They strive to see that all Haitian children have access to quality education. They also support adult literacy. One of their major focus' is to cut the flow of Haitian children into domestic servitude... basically child slavery.
Please support Beyond Borders, who has a long term relationship with Haiti and her people. They will be there long after the larger international aid organizations have moved on.
For five consecutive years Beyond Borders has been awarded the highest rating from Charity Navigator™, America’s largest independent evaluator of charities.
