My name is Deanna and I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ. I opted for a double mastectomy in hopes of a more secure future against breast cancer. I knew little about the items that would make coming home a little more comfortable. Through friends, I heard of Betty’s Brave and Beautiful Hearts, so I reached out in hopes they could at least share with me some knowledge about this journey I was about to embark. They were so nice and immediately wanted to schedule a visit with me in the hospital. They came the day after my mastectomy and presented me with a beautiful care package. Rebecca demonstrated how to use each item and shared words of comfort. I used my mastectomy pillow on the way home from the hospital and it was such a relief from the rubbing of the seatbelt. These are items you are never told about. I’ve had several breast surgeries and was never told about these things that would make going home from the hospital a little easier. I am so thankful for Rebecca, and the Betty’s Brave and Beautiful Hearts foundation. I think every hospital, that preforms breast surgeries, should be in an alliance with this type of foundation for women. Please consider donating- for women like me, and others, that must enter into this unknown season of life.
My name is Michelle. I was diagnosed with Triple Positive Breast Cancer in October 2023. A friend of mine told me about Rebecca and Betty’s Brave & Beautiful Hearts Foundation so I reached out to her and it was the best decision I ever made. Rebecca, and this foundation have been so supportive and provided me with some much needed items to help me through chemotherapy. I am so grateful for this foundation. The love and support I have received is unmatched!
My name is Sharon is was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. I connected this foundation and she personally reached out to me and set a time to come out of her way to my house to deliver her beautiful care package and explained and show me how to use them. And everything in the box was very helpful doing my recovery.
I recently had the opportunity to be a volunteer helping to prepare boxes with the necessary items to help ease the post surgery recovery process for breast cancer patients. Volunteering for this particular foundation has a special meaning for me, as Betty was my dear sister-in-law. I’m so proud of my niece Rebecca for carrying on Betty’s fervent wish to help others going through this terrible disease.

I have met this wonderful woman, Rebecca, just after her Mom, Betty, passed away from a very difficult battle. So knowing where she is coming from and what her Mom promises her to. Do, I had no hesitation on supporting and volunteering for that foundation. Rebecca will always go above and beyond to help those Women’s battling with breast cancer, to help them to live the same situation that her Mom has to deal with : the not knowing what’s coming after and what you should expect and do.
Rebecca, I know that your Mom is very proud of you where she is at now and we should all support that battle that is affecting more women’s than we think.
Wonderful organization borne of a personal struggle and sharing the knowledge and expertise gained with others. This group is doing what an excellent non-profit should do: solving a problem! The support given to post-op women helps them continue to lead and enjoy their full, busy post-mastectomy lives without being hindered during recovery and beyond. Everyone knows that moms never stop, this lovely group ensures that they don't need to.
I reached out to the foundation as my mom just received a breast cancer diagnosis and was going to undergo a double mastectomy. Rebecca showed up with the most useful items to make recovery easier. She also showed up with the most loving heart and kindness and has followed up through the entire recovery process. She gave us additional hope and prayers that our family, and especially my mom needed to get through one of the most difficult times in our lives.
Being a volunteer with BBBH has been such an incredible and rewarding experience. Being able to individually help each participant and all the thoughtful planning behind each box, getting to know Rebecca and share her story in hopes of helping the local community is so so special. As a busy mom and also caring for my mother during her chemo cancer journey sometimes I can feel helpless and this foundation gives me the purpose & desire to give back to others and continue fighting

I have been volunteering for Betty’s Brave & Beautiful Hearts Foundation since the beginning. I was volunteering for another nonprofit in Lexington when I met Rebecca Baker. We got to talking and she told she explained to me what she had setting out to accomplish for the women of Kentucky.
After hearing her story, and her mother’s battle with breast cancer I decided to join the team and make this dream come to life along side of her. Betty’s Brave & Beautiful Hearts is in honor of the late Betty Baker. A wonderful woman from the heart of Kentucky, who had never met a stranger, and raised an angel of a daughter. Rebecca Baker travels the state, delivering free post-mastectomy and chemotherapy care kits that help women heal in comfort. Breast cancer is a unique and personal journey, this foundation uses an understanding from personal experience to carefully craft these care kits out of love and compassion.
I have attended some of the deliveries myself, seeing the women’s faces as they receive the pink box has brought me to tears. Each box has thoughtful pieces of love that help them feel brave and beautiful. Together, we offer not just assistance, but a heartfelt commitment to support, empower, and uplift these amazing individuals on their journey towards healing and resilience.
