the organization maintains a donor supported assistance fund known as our caring connection fund which is used to make grants to eligible families who adopt children with special needs. The organization has a committee of staff members who review the application for each family who applies for financial assistance. Not all families who apply receive assistance. The committee meets regularly throughout the year to review the applicants adoption story and the needs of the child that they are adopting. The decision to make a grant to a family is based on a combination of factors, including the amount of money the fund has available to disburse, the financial resources of the adoptive family, and the special medical and other ongoing needs of the child who is being adopted. The funds awarded by the committee are credited to the account of the adoptive family.
