First, take a deep dive into the Bert's Big Adventure website and you'll get a good dose of happy smiles. The smiles that you'll see are of families and children that don't get to experience "magic" very often. The smiles can be seen during Fairy GodParent visits, Family Reunions, Annual trips to Disney, and by many people that make all of these smiles happen, including donors. The staff is compassionate and detailed, and their main priority is making sure good things are happening for some very deserved families throughout the year. And when good things aren't happening, the staff does everything they can to help ease the burdens. I'm proud to say that I am a long-time donor and will continue to be as long as I can.

What a fantastic charity!! They provide qualified children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families an all expense paid trip to Disney World in addition to further financial support!!

Bert's Big Adventure brings lots of smiles to kids with terminal and chronic illnesses. They provide a family oriented trip to Disney each year for 12 families. They also provide ongoing support for these families through reunions. This is wonderful for the children as well as the parents, who are able to establish a network of parents who face similar problems. It's amazing to see pictures of these events, and the beautiful smiles on the faces of these children. It's a great organization!

I have been a donor to this organization for over 10 years and will continue to support them for as long as I can. I have seen first hand the passion and commitment they have to families having a child (or children) with chronic or terminal illnesses. It's not just about the trip for the families - heck, that's just the introduction to a community of families with similar experiences, care givers, volunteers, and sponsors! - The rest of the year is consumed with making sure that each and every BBA child that is hospitalized is visited every day that they're hospitalized through a special program that they share on their website... Planning other events to give these families an opportunity to find joy in their world of doctors, hospitals, illnesses, and financial struggles that they share through social media and on their website... Inviting companies to become corporate sponsors to join them, and create a partnership to in ensure that these families have magical moments in their lives... Searching for other ways to support the families... Finding the resources to serve as advisors for the families, the staff, and the organization as a whole... Encouraging the public and hospital personnel to nominate families to join them... the list goes on.
The staff is compassionate and caring, and they laugh and they cry with these families. The families are deserving. appreciative, and not opportunistic. I am proud to know that my contributions are used to support an organization that has such a huge heart, gives of themselves, and provides these families an opportunities to create some joyful and very special memories.
Keep up the good work Bert's Big Adventure!

I checked into this charity and asked questions about their expenses. I was provided a letter from their attorney trying to bully me and stifle any effort to obtain financials. That makes me want to send my money someplace else. Express Jet donates the airfare so they don't need money for that. Volunteers seem to handle most other tasks. I'd find a different charity to contribute to like Wounded Warrior or Red Cross.
This organization constantly begs for money on their radio station Q100 in Atlanta, Ga. raising hundreds of thousands of dollars and allowing automatic monthly contributions on their website YET they only take about a dozen families to Disney World ONE time a year only for 4-5 days. That's it. They claim nothing else. They also get almost ALL services for this one event DONATED by all parties including airfare. They pay over $50k a year to an admin person and thousands to undisclosed "doctors" to go on this no-expense-sparred vacation which seems to be more of a lavish vacation for their own staff. They only seem to give about 40% at best to their cause which is very low. There are a lot of mysterious and questionable expenses. They don't need your money.

Excellent group of people with a clear passion for helping chronic and terminally ill children and their families celebrate one of the great experiences of childhood - a family vacation to Disney World. Dealt with all levels of this organization from volunteers, staff, and founders and believe they are professional, efficient, and committed to their cause. Approached them first as a service provider and although they did not use the service, they were so thorough in their due diligence and communication that they motivated our family to become a donor to their cause.
