Causes: Homeless & Housing, Low-Income & Subsidized Rental Housing
Mission: Bernal heights housing corporation was incorporated in 1991 to preserve and develop affordable housing for low- and moderate- income individuals and the development of new housing projects and the rehabilitation of existing housing projects.
Programs: Our affordable housing development continues as a cornerstone of our work, some of which is done through partnerships with other community-based organizations. Bhhc will be rehabilitating 118 public housing units and to date bhhc has completed 19 developments with a total 512 units including 7 commercial units. One development is limited equity homeownership while the other 18 are rentals. On two of our recent projects - casa quezada and bishop swing community house - we provided development services to bring units on line for housing services organizations. We currently own and operate through bhhc and our affiliates, 248 residential units in 14 buildings; with dedicated supportive services for residents in 142 of our units. Our developments range in size from 2 units to 135 units and are located throughout san francisco in bernal heights, crocker amazon, sunnyside, the mission, the portola, soma, the western addition, and the outer richmond.
