Berkshire Children's Chorus provides young, rural children with advanced musical training in choral works of the highest quality. But that doesn't begin to tell the story. Imagine children living in rural Massachusetts communities and despite the wonderful natural envionrment, they just don't get exposed to the richness of cultures that learning choral music can give them. Their wonderful and talented leader, Nancy Loder, has never compromised the quality of their work to let them slide through. She pushes hard and then when they are sounding as if they were angels she begins the long arduous process of finding some of the best gigs in the world for them to perform They raise funds, they travel to musical centers in Europe, in New York, and elsewhere. They get to perform under the best choral conductors in the world and they rise to every occasion. Through all this they gain so many skills that might easily elude rural kids. All you have to do is sit through one concert and your heart soars right along with their voices. There is a beginning chorus for little ones, the middle chorus for the growing stars and finally, and most touchingly, there is the CODA chorus. Young singers who can't stop singing and who have persuaded Ms. Loder to take them on depsite her qualms about whether they will stick with it. Altogether, one of the most delightful non-profits one will ever find.
