Bergen County Horse Rescue is a wonderful organization. The horses are loved and well cared for, and the volunteers work tirelessly to support them. Although visitors to the rescue initially come to see the horses, they usually leave with greater knowledge about the valuable and needed work done by horse rescues.
Bergen County Horse Rescue is an amazing place. They truly live their motto of caring for horses mind, body and sole. I've attended all of their events with my family and always have a great time. We enjoy seeing the progress they make with their rescues year after year. If you are ever in the area I suggest making time to visit.
I am a volunteer at the Bergen County Horse Rescue. We take care of abused and neglected horses and through lots of love and patience help these amazing animals learn to trust and love again. It’s an amazing place!
BCHR provides a home for abused and neglected horses. There are 23 horses divided into five herds each of which shares a different pasture. There are also two goats and a pot belly pig named Cookie. Volunteers, of which I am one, help care for the horses in many ways such as training, grooming, stall maintenance, feeding, and pasture maintenance. Volunteers also give tours of the farm to youth groups, seniors and families among others and these tours are very much enjoyed by all. There is also a volunteer run gift shop carrying clothing, art and photographs and other items. Volunteers also help maintain the land buildings at the farm. BCHR is a special place where people share their love of horses in many different ways.
A sanctuary for horses and volunteers to care for the horses is such a wonderful experience. BCHR is so dedicated to the healthy environment for each horse and their needs!
BCHR..is a wonderful and beautiful place for horses in need. They are so loved and so well taken care of. It's a lil slice of heaven so well deserved for those beautiful animals. There are also 2 goats and a pot belly pig. BCHR holds beautiful events to raise money for their cause. Volunteers are educated in horsemanship by Erin and Jen. I feel so lucky to have found them.
I have lived in the area all my life and would drive by the horses almost every day, we have all enjoyed them over the years .now that it has become a rescue I believe I should help these beautiful horses survive and have a better life , the rescue is run with so much love and joy from every person I have seen there , I enjoy helping in any way They need me from mucking out to grooming to setting up for fundraisers , no questions asked I would help with whatever they need !! The Bergen county horse rescue is the best !!!!
I'm a fairly new volunteer at the Bergen County Horse Rescue - beginning with administrative and actively participating in subsequent events like the Easter Egg Hunt; Volunteer Appreciation; and the 1st Annual BBQ Fundraiser. I'm looking forward to continuing my work with them in support of their mission caring for horses who otherwise would not have the love and wonderful care they deserve.
The volunteers truly care about the horses and bring BCHR's mission to life with every interaction. Visiting their farm is a wonderful experience for adults and children
Living in a very populated area I was thrilled to find BCHR. 17 acres of beautiful farmland you can tour and meet all the wonderful horses that have been rescued or abandoned. The horses know this is their special place and that no one will harm them again. It is a privilege and honor to volunteer at this rescue. My favorite place to be!
I have been volunteering at BCHR for over 3 years. It's truly amazing how this rescue keeps the spirit of their charter alive every day. These horses are well cared for, mind, body and soul. In the past 3 years, the rescue has come such a long way! The tours give such a thrill to the people visiting as well as the horses and the volunteers seems to love it too. I know I do! Come visit for yourself to see all these beautiful horses.
It is very moving to be with the horses at this facility and see how well they are cared for by volunteers. Some of their backstories are truly heart-breaking, but now they are all safe and thriving in this sanctuary which is a short ride from NYC. The dedication, love and attention they receive is outstanding. It is a peaceful, remarkable place and should bring joy to anyone who visits.
I am very proud to be a part of this nonprofit organization! We have come so far since we started in 2016. All of this could not have been achieved if it weren’t for our volunteers. We are all so passionate about what we do and carrying out our mission. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for BCHR!
