I first visited Benjamin House Ministries in July 2022. This trip completely changed my life. The amount of work I witnessed being done in the small areas and slum of Katanga, Ntinda and Nangabo completely stopped me in my tracks. On the surface all you could see was poverty and brokenness. But once I peeled that layer away I saw joy, love, happiness and hope. It was hard for me to see those two stark differences belonging in the same place together but I realized it was God’s presence that allowed the good to overshadow the hard.
The staff in Uganda are some of the best people I have ever met. They know each child and their family by name. They know how to navigate the maze of corridors in the slum to find the homes of these families that are in our sponsorship program. They know each child’s favorite color, favorite food and what they need to thrive. Every step they take is so personal and so intentional for these families.
When I returned home, I knew I had to dive head first into this ministry to help in any way that I could. Now, one whole year later, I am fortunate enough to be an active board member and someone who is able to help this ministry assist these families so they can stand on their own two feet.
At BHM, we are not only helping sponsored children receive an education but we are helping restore families. There is nothing greater in this world than the gift of family.
So, in conclusion, BHM is one of the best non profits I have ever been a part of. The work being done is unbelievable, amazing and God sent!!
