Mission: Bellaire-puritas development corporation is committed to maintaining & enhancing the full diversity of its residential, commercial, & industrial communities, & providing the planning necessary to ensure the vitality of the neighborhood into the future.
Programs: Bpdc's youth & workforce development services are funded by public cuyahoga metropolitan housing authority (cmha) funds, or intermediaries with public funds such as starting point of cleveland and greater cleveland neighborhood centers association and private foundation dollars, such as the cleveland foundation, united way, and greater cleveland community shares, as well as individual donations. We operate literacy and computer literacy programs for adults, and assist people with job readiness and job search activities at a computer lab within riverside park estates. Youth development programming is the strongest component of our workforce development services, through which we introduce young people to career and after-school educational opportunities, extensive volunteer and employment experiences and service learning. We offer tutoring, arts and educational programming in four distinct out-of-school time programs: one is the robinson g jones school wrap-around strategy, another is our after school program for middle school students at artemus ward school, a third is an after school program at the cmha riverside park estates and the finally are the enrichment and career exploration programs we offer in various sites around the neighborhood including in area public and private schools.
bpdc's community development services are funded by federal community development block grant funds and local city of cleveland funds through the city of cleveland department of community development, as well as private foundation dollars such as cleveland neighborhood progress and individual donations. We provide exterior home inspection and housing improvement referral services, coordination of resident engagement in public and private improvement projects (such as road projects, school construction or housing construction and redevelopment) and assistance to businesses, both retail/commercial and industrial, looking to expand their business, improve their property or locate in our neighborhood. Bpdc coordinates the acquisition renovation and sale of vacant houses returning them to productive use. In addition we conduct neighborhood development planning.
bpdc's neighborhood services are funded by public community development block grant funds and private foundation dollars such as the cleveland foundation, as well as individual donations. Bpdc provides assistance to low income seniors in need of minor home repairs or grounds maintenance in order that these elderly citizens may maintain a healthy quality of life living in their neighborhood home. Property improvements and maintenance services include cutting high grass and removing excessive yard debris help the person respond to city citations or avoid housing violations. In addition bpdc coordinates volunteers and conducts neighborhood clean-up campaigns throughout the year, and mediation services to resolve conflicts between neighbors.
