I cannot say enough nice remarks about the staff at the Humane Society. They show extreme compassion to all of the animals and truly show these animals how much love they are truly worth. When I went to adopt an older cat they were so happy to see him being adopted and all came out to say good bye to him. They showed to me how much all the animals mean to them and how much they truly care.

So this beautiful cat has been coming around my house and I fell in love with it. Unfortunately I already have animals so I’m not able to keep it. My dogs will not have it if I had my way I would keep this loving animal. The cat is definitely domestic cat. Somebody hast to miss him dearly so I’ve done all I could post on the Beaver County lost and found on Facebook and nobody has even posted anything back other than a beautiful animal. So, I have been feeding it and taking very good care of it. I called the Humane Society and talk to a very, very special young lady named Emily and now she’s helping me find a great home for this beautiful cat. This beautiful cat has a loving heart and I wish I could keep it but I can’t. I felt very reassured that they will do their best to find the cat a loving, home.Emily you’re the best. You did a You did an amazing job and I never even got to meet you yet . I wish they were more caring people in the world like yourself Emily God bless you. Thank you so much.

I adopted a beautiful, loving, older cat from the Beaver County Humane Society. They are so kind and caring to all their animals and treat the adopters with love as well. My lovely Pumpkin Kitty lived to a ripe age of 18 years old and was one of the best pets I ever had!

I LOVE the Beaver County Humane Society. What a great group of passionate, caring staff. The shelter is clean and well organized. The staff are friendly and willing to help. They serve the community through their low-cost vaccinations and other services. They work hard to raise money to care for and shelter the animals. Their fundraising events are well run and so much fun. They are a gift to the community - definitely consider supporting them financially through a donation.

I have had the privilege to be associated with Susan Salyards, Executive Director for two years. I have seen her in tears over deplorable situations for animals, champion the humane society, gather donations for their store and gather money donations. If there is any way to help her keep the Beaver County Humane Society please do they work harder at keeping their organization together than anyone I have been associated with.

The Beaver County Humane Society doesn’t rate one star today. We called and couldn’t reach a live person. We left a message online to set an appointment but didn’t hear back. We drove out to see if we could view the cats and filled out an application and then were told they didn’t have anyone to show the cats to us. The pens for filling out applications were sticky and the place appeared dirty. We will be looking elsewhere to adopt a cat.

I love the work Beaver County Humane Society does to keep their animals happy and healthy while they wait for their forever homes. A good amount of shelter life will always be spent in a cage, but at BCHS, they take time to ensure that the animals get one on one time with people, a chance to socialize with other animals, and time to work on learning new skills. They really go above and beyond for their animals. I volunteer with them to help in their mission and have brought home two babies from there now.

I grew up living very close to the Beaver County Humane Society. This was the place everyone went to adopt their forever friend. Everyone has the best things to say about them! We got our Toby from here 2 years ago! These are the kindest, most selfish group of people! They put so much devotion into each and every furbaby in their care! I see on social media how many animals they have each and everyday looking for homes and have decided to become a monthly donor!

I have been fostering for the Beaver County Humane Society for 8 years. This is Odin he came to me with a severely ulcerated eye infection. The Beaver County Humane Society gave me much medicine that was needed every couple hours. We managed to get the infection under control but glaucoma set in and the eye needed to be removed. This is a picture of Odin right now one week after surgery. When sutures are removed Odin will go to live with his forever family. I am so grateful during this kitten season that they put so much effort into this one little kitten. He is a little angel and they are the best!

BCHS is more than just animals that were strays or surrendered for whatever reason and need rehomed, they provide a service that changes peoples lives as well as the animals. The staff at BCHS are an amazing bunch of people and truly care about the animals that come through their facility and they care about the people who adopt from their facility as well.

I can honestly say that my personal experience with BCHS and the staff has changed my life for the better and its not just because of the pet that I adopted. It is easy to see that they care so much for these animals and they went above and beyond during my adoption process to ensure my new best friend was getting the home she deserved.

The night my adoption process was finalized, every member of the staff had tears of joy and I remember thinking to myself that I knew Carmen was loved while she was there.

The passion and love the staff has for these animals inspired me to become a volunteer, something I’ve never considered before and now I couldn’t imagine my life without being able to contribute to their mission and helping make a difference for as many people and animals as they did for me and Carmen.

Thank you, Everyone, for your dedication, support and even friendships that you’ve given me over the past two years. :)

Beaver County Humane Society is the best place around! They're the place that rescued my baby and treated her so nicely before she was adopted. I adopted Princess Leia here in 2017 and have loved every day after. Leia was raised to be my emotional support animal while I went to school a 12 hour drive from home. Leia made so many other residents on campus happy when she joined me in my RA duties. Leia went on walks and greeted every resident she passed. People all over campus would see her and immediately know "that's Leia from Leisure Time with Leia!" My programming revolved around her because of her personality. I'm grateful of the Beaver County Humane Society for being so kind to her as a baby. I don't think she would have been such a kind soul if they'd treated her poorly. They took great care of her and made the base for a cat that changed so many lives. She probably even saved lives by cheering people up when they were sad and homesick. Thank you BCHS for my wonderful girl!

When we were looking for a dog we found him at BCHS. We were in the process of buying a home and renting at the time. The dog we found had been abused and was in a shrouded kennel at the old location of BCHS. We visited him as much as we could for him to get used to us. Eventually the shrouds were lessened but Kody, his new name, still shook with fear even after several visits. I learned there was another family interested in him but the staff chose my husband and I to be his new parents, I was so pleased. We closed on our home and that very weekend were able to bring Kody home. His favorite spot was the bathroom. We figured it was because it was as if he was still in a kennel and let him get familiar with the house in his own time. We did crate him at first but the evening when he didn't want to go in was the end of that. We weren't going to force him. He eventually was very relaxed around us but not with others. He would run behind the couch and stay there until long after the person(s) left. This went on for a long time. Then he began to be better around others and we were able to get him to stay from behind the couch and interact with us a d his new brother Luca. The BCHS was there for us and the staff was amazing.

We had just lost our family dog (who we rescued from less than desirable circumstances 13 years ago). To say we were heartbroken was an understatement. We knew we couldn’t replace him, but our kids had never NOT had a dog. We kept looking at shelters, but due to the Covid pandemic and people being home there were no dogs to adopt that would be a good match for our kids. We never heard from places that may have been a match. Purchasing from a breeder went against our ethics.
By chance, we saw ‘Oreo’ on the BCHS website one evening. We immediately put in our application and we were contacted the very next day after our references were checked! We took the kids to meet him as soon as they had an appointment and we not only fell in love with sweet ‘Oreo,’ but were impressed with the staff and facility. During our visit, we saw other dogs in the outdoor play areas and you could tell how well they were taken care of. The staff were very kind and you could tell they cared deeply for the animals. Due to Covid, we were able to complete his adoption outdoors. All staff wore masks and kept a safe distance, but still provided us with an amazing experience.
Our kids renamed ‘Oreo’ and he is now known as Oscar! We’ve had him just about 4 months and you’d have thought he’d been here forever! He fits our family perfectly! He’s rambunctious, yet loves to cuddle! He enjoys hikes, LOVES water and is loving fall! The BCHS matched us with our forever furbaby and we are ever so grateful! The communication, adoption process, transparency, cleanliness of the facility and ultimately their love for the animals make this an amazing organization and pillar of the community. Thank you BCHS!!
Love The Daniels’ (Oscar’s furever family!)

I had never had a cat before, only dogs. My friend and I stopped in after seeing a Mel Gibson movie. This is the "former building" near the mall. On the way out, I spotted a tiny orange tabby cat. I ended up adopting him, but wow what a difference from a dog, naturally. He slept next to my head on my pillow. He became my best buddy. He was neutered and had his shots, all part of the adoption fee. I named him Gibson after seeing that movie earlier. You see, at this time, my mom was battling melanoma. She was only 44. I also was going through a painful divorce. I shed many tears on my beautiful Gibson. Every step of finding and adopting Gibson, that day, at that heartbreaking time in my life, kept me going. He was my best friend. He was there for me when my mom died. Everything I needed to know, being a first time cat mom, I learned from the volunteers and employees at BCHS. That cat helped save me during my mom's cancer battle and death. I've adopted another cat since then and returned to get his mom. They are ridiculously spoiled and much loved. In fact, when I went back to get Joe's mom, the adoption was free because she was an adult cat. What??!! I ended up making a donation in her honor, my Frankie girl. They're still here being loved and loving me. Thank you for all you do. Thank you for your Beaver Falls amazing Thrift Store, where so many can donate to help the animals.

The Beaver County Humane Society is an essential part of our community. When I found a group of kittens living under my deck, I turned to them for help. They educated me on how to safely trap the kittens and their mama. The kittens were adopted by a foster, and the mama was neutered and released. I proudly support BCHS and thank them for all they do!

I wanted to help out by fostering a dog from the Humane Society. The dog that needed some help was a black chihuahua mix named Daisy. She was diabetic and her previous owners surrendered her at seven years old. I knew that being a senior and a senior with a chronic medical condition, it would be hard to find her a home.
I got all the help and medical care I needed to take care of Daisy, including her surgery to spay her, and all of her urine and bloodwork there at no cost to me. She needed frequent alterations to her insulin and the doctors and employees there were always so helpful. Because I had such a positive experience, I ended up adopting Daisy and she lived out the rest of her days until she passed this past January at 11 years old.
Thank you to the Beaver County Humane Society for placing her in my care and for all of the help provided to us!

It was March of 2019 and I was so alone that wanted to die. My beloved dog had passed in my arms and I wanted to go with her - in fact I planned to. I got on Facebook to send some 'I love you' messages to those that I loved before I ended it all. And I came upon the Beaver County Humane Society's website and I saw a video of a dog.

He was huge but obviously still a puppy from his actions and the way he zoomed around the room playing with a stuffie. I could tell that the volunteers in the Video were being careful not to let him knock them down. And I knew at that moment that dog belonged to me.

This big dog had run the streets for 6 months or so. A volunteer had lured him into her truck with some food when he was obviously starving. I saw the pictures - he was a skeleton of a dog, but still very large. I often think of the courage it took to bring that wild dog into her truck.

Then he lived in the shelter for another 6 months without being adopted. A huge Pitbull who seemed wild, and was extremely strong, the type that most think of as an unadoptable dog. But the people at the Beaver County Humane Society recognized that this dog was full of love. His puppy exuberance was often seen as frightening because of his great size and strength. This is a dog that many places would have given up on. They would rationalize their decision by saying that resources would be better spent on a dog less spirited who would find a good home. But the Beaver County Humane Society knew that this dog did not deserve to die just because he was abandoned. They saw the good in this dog that most people would fear.

The staff and volunteers at the BCHS worked hard to teach him manners. They worked tirelessly on leash training - and this dog was strong enough to pull anyone down. They gave him nutritious food, and they showed him love which allowed him to not lose hope for that long 6 months until we met.

This dog saved my life. I am his and he is mine. He is a handful, but his love has no rival. And the people at the Beaver County Humane Society trusted me with this dog.

Together we've traveled to the Appalachian mountains. the great lakes, and the Rockies. We have hiked amazing trails, climbed mountains, and swam in beautiful waters. He is my constant companion and the best dog in the world!!! They all are. :)

This is Rafferty - a dog that beat the odds. A dog that LIVES because of the Beaver County Humane Society. And because he lives so do I. So really I owe the BCHS my life too. I am grateful to all the staff, volunteers, and everyone that supports the Beaver County Humane Society. They save lives.

The Beaver County Humane Society is comprised of hard working individuals who manage to be the primary source of support for the needy animals in this area.
This organization has no funding from the local authorities and manages to keep the shelter going with many fundraising activities and an army of volunteers.
Caring for the unwanted abused and sick animals is not for every one. Its a challenging situation for the strongest of will, however this wonderful organization has persevered to make many happy endings from dire circumstances.

Stevie came into BCHS in February 2015 weighing less than 30 lbs. The staff worked incredibly hard over the next month to put weight on him and get him ready for adoption. When we came to the shelter, the staff were so helpful in introducing us to the dogs, telling us about their personalities, and helping us to find the perfect dog for us. The shelter was so clean, orderly, and the staff were so kind!

Stevie has been with us for almost 5 years now. He is a Canine Good Citizen and Certified Therapy Dog. He enjoys volunteering at local schools and libraries as well as taking long naps on the couch!

On a bit of a mission to find a companion for my current mutt I stopped in the Beaver County Humane Society with my mind set on one pup that I saw online but he was, not surprisingly, already spoken for so I wandered around and came across who is now my Shelby and a fantastic member of the family. Such a great group of people that work here too!

The Beaver County Humane Society is a truly great organization. My husband and I had some wonderful and rewarding experiences fostering kittens from the shelter. The shelter provided us with great support during our foster time. I have only had interactions with the cats and kittens there, but the employees and volunteers are so dedicated and work so hard to do their best to ensure that the animals are well taken care of and as happy as possible. Attached are photos of our foster kittens. First photo is Ziggy and Ollie. Second photo is Cody. Third photo is Mango, Phoenix and Blondie. We loved them all!

In October of 2018, we lost Jack to liver cancer, two weeks later our Shasta died of broken heart syndrome. We didn’t think about getting another dog. Two weeks after these heartbreaks, Cash & Carry became available. Their owner had passed away and were brought in approximately two weeks prior. We saw a video of them after they were out with volunteers. We knew we had to meet them. They were big and beautiful! When we met them we knew they had to come home with us. Everyone at Beaver County Humane Society was so helpful and great to deal with.
Beaver County Humane Society is the cleanest, friendliest shelters we have ever seen. One can tell when walking in that the volunteers and staff enjoy their work. It shows in the animals and the atmosphere. I am including a picture of us and Cash & Carry on our first day as a family! Here it is a almost a year later and we are a big happy family.

We enjoy going to the Beaver County Humane Society to see the beautiful dogs and cats. Except for this last year, we had attended the annual Pet Walk with our Westie Beau. All of the volunteers always made us feel welcome.

The Beaver County Humane Society is devoted to the community it serves through education and caring of dogs, cats and other animals. I have been a volunteer since May, 2019 when I retired from full time work. I was impressed with the organization from the start. My first contact was with the volunteer coordinator and she was approachable, responsive and answered all my questions. Orientation training was provided as well as additional training opportunities, such as, dog handling and open question session. There are excellent veterinarian services on site. The staff and other volunteers are welcoming and willing to answer any questions. Great effort goes into keeping everyone aware of adoptions that have taken place and events coming up. The dogs and cats are loved and cared for, their spaces are clean, dogs are able to go for walks several times a day as well as spending time in a gated yard. Cats are cuddled and shown love by staff and volunteers. While walking dogs anything I see that may be a concern the staff addresses immediately. For instance, I noticed a dog favoring one leg, a vet Tech took a look right away. Dogs and cats want and need a forever home but until a good match is made, they are cared for and loved by staff and volunteers. There are many needs from cleaning, walking dogs, event help and more. People of all levels of ability are welcomed and needed. Education for youngsters is accomplished through the BCHS Reading to Shelter Pets program and summer camps to name a couple. My niece age 9 has participated in both and had a wonderful experience. All the volunteers and staff share the common goal of helping these beautiful animals feel safe and loved until they find their forever home.

I've volunteered and fostered with a number of organizations over the past decade, and can confidently say that BCHS is the most organized, safest, and well-run place out of them all. All of the animals are so loved by everyone, protocols are followed so well by both staff and volunteers, and it's an overall lovely place to be a part of!

I have been a volunteer at the Beaver County Humane Society for 4 years. Walking dogs in the early morning is one of my favorite activities along with taking dogs to adoption events and serving on the education committee. Reaching the community through educational programs is so important. I absolutely love our evening "Read to Shelter Pets' nights where students can come and read to one of our animals. Also, picture is Molly who I adopted from the shelter 3 years ago. she brings so much happiness to our house!

We adopted our sweet Daisey two years ago from the Beaver County Humane Society. They also provided continued support after adoption on how to train and ease her transition into our family. The support we received made a huge impact on us and we continue to love and train our perfect girl!

I have been volunteering there for about two years... first as a cat cuddler and now cleaning cages in the ISO room. During this time I fostered kittens and adopted six kittens who are now getting close to a year and a half old.The staff are helpful and friendly and they always always could us more volunteers and contributions. The medical staff are very dedicated and work tirelessly. Volunteers are not afraid of doing dishes, cleaning cages, doing laundry and / or loading and hauling anything donated. Here are some of my seven total cats.

I’m here to share my story on how this shelter saved my life. I worked at the shelter for a little over a year as a kennel attendant. As many people know this type of job isn't the best paying career out there. I loved my job more than anything, but my hard work just wasn’t paying the bills. So I decided to work else where that was willing to pay me more. So I left the shelter life behind to pursue other options. After I left the shelter I worked two high paying jobs. Not at the same time, I ended up quitting the first job because of how unhappy the work made me. Granted I made great money, but I was depressed and anxious all the time. So I quit that job and took on my second job making even better money. But with more money came more responsibility, more depression, more anger and more anxious... eventually I became suicidal.. again. My job was affecting my relationships, my own health, and more importantly my happiness. It was getting to the point that I didn’t want to live anymore. I had to get out of there before it was to late. I decided to look back and think of the last time I was truly, I mean truly happy. Which brought me back to the shelter. The staff welcomed me back with open loving arms. At last I was finally home, somewhere I felt at ease. I had my family again, I left whole. All my depression, anger, anxiety and all those terrible thoughts just washed away. Every time I help an animal find a home I get this warm, sweet feeling in my heart that can never be replaced. If it wasn’t for the beaver county humane society I honestly don’t think I’d be here, right now, writing this today. I thank god and my loved ones every day for letting me share my story.

I was volunteering to walk dogs At the time & this is Topaz, he was adopted in 2006 from the Humane Society. He was in very bad shape when he was brought in, & as you see he turned into the cutest, sweetest & best little boy. He brought so much joy to our family & love into our hearts everyday. He crossed the rainbow bridge in April 2015 & is sadly missed every day! Even though he is gone, we always donate or take items to the Thrift store. Debbie is wonderful & appreciate what a great job she & every one there do for all the animals. They all work so hard & most do not realize all that is involved. Especially the time & money. Would recommend to anyone!!!

I have adopted 3 older cats and one dog from the humane society. It was always a wonderful experience. My cats were 14 and 15 when I got them. They were very affectionate and I felt the shelter really took the time to see if we were a good fit together. I love my animals with all my heart and the shelter staff was wonderful for the most part. I always recommend shelter animals when people say they are looking. They are usually the most incredible animals you can get.

I recently moved to Beaver County and, while I have 3 large dogs of my own, I wanted to be able to help make the lives of other animals better so I began to volunteer at the BCHS. I am so impressed with the staff there and how well they take care of the animals. Some of the animals spend way too much time there waiting to be adopted, but the staff and volunteers work very hard giving them all the love they can while they are there and I know some of them have come from situations where being at the shelter is a better life than what they had before. Please consider giving of your time to volunteer, donate or attend many of the awesome events they hold throughout the year which helps to support the many programs they provide.

The Beaver County Humane Society does an excellent job at caring for animals looking for their fur-ever home. They have a high caliber staff who display compassion for these animals in need. They receive no financial support from donations made to any regional or national animal welfare organization, and they are not directly funded through local, state or federal tax dollars. Fund-raising efforts have increased through the help of volunteers and staff; however, any private donation of supplies, food or cash made to this organization and/or volunteerism is always welcomed and appreciated! https://beavercountyhumanesociety.org/donate

The Beaver County Humane Society is an incredible organization. The people who work and volunteer there truly care about the animals. They have so many events and activities to help not only raise money for the shelter to care for the animals, but to find the animals homes. They try to get the fur babies out of the shelter whenever possible. I have never seen a more diverse group of people who are so passionate about the same thing. I volunteer here and everyone is so nice and willing to help each other. This place is great. If you are in the market for a pet, please consider adopting from the BCHS!

After losing my furry boy, I decided I would volunteer to help pets looking for homes. Thoroughly enjoyed walking, helping where I could. All of the staff is so caring and thoughtful caring for their charges. And one morning there he was, I knew right away Jasper was meant for me. We adopted each other and are now happy snuggling on the couch.
I truly recommend Beaver County Humane Society as a caring non-profit deserving of every donation whether monetary, volunteer hours, or recognition.

A few weeks ago a stray dog arrived in our Center Township neighborhood. It appeared homeless and was continually getting into the neighbors garbage looking for food. She, as we later learned, was seen on numerous occasions wandering aimlessly outside in the cold rain and on mornings when the frost had covered the ground. One of the neighbors subsequently contacted the Humane Society and reported this matter. Humane Officer Kelly responded almost immediately and set up a cage to trap this dog. On the very first night the dog entered the cage but managed to escape. Officer Kelly promptly returned and set out a more secure cage. Later that night the dog was captured and removed from the area. Being life long animal lovers we were concerned about the welfare of this dog. It wasn’t very long until we learned that this dog had been adopted. With winter around the corner we are happy that this story had a very happy ending!
