We adopted our little Puggy Sue from this facility. The process was very informative and hearting. The love and care given to the animals is so obvious. The staff are an amazing group of people. Our Puggy Sue now has a forever home with us and Beagles and Buddies will always have a spot in our heart as well.
We, unfortunately, had to give up our eight year old beagle (Ginger) after we had to move in with our elderly mother-in-law and Ginger's food aggression became unmanageable around other dogs. The B&B team was informed, compassionate, and professional while we went through the emotional process of giving up the dog we love. Ginger has a new home more suitable for her personality, and we feel much better knowing that even though we no longer have her, she is loved and cared for. B&B provides a valuable service that is humane to both pets and their human family members!
Thank you Beagles & Buddies for doing what you do. We adopted our Blue Tick Cooney. Aroo is such a wonderful member of our family.
Four of our six rescues we have adopted over the years have come from Beagles and Buddies. Nora, our 15 year old beagle, was our first adoption from B&B when they were in El Monte. They moved up to our home town, Apple Valley, a few years ago. We adopted Hunter about 2 and a half years ago and when he passed we adopted Lucy. Then we recently adopted our big boy,Gus, from Beagles and Buddies, so our high energy Lucy would have someone to play with.
Connie does a great job finding homes for these hounds and buddies. Connie, the volunteers staff, and various service groups all help to keep this wonderful organization going.
Beagles and Buddies have helped so many homeless and unwanted dogs. She has always opened her rescue to help those no one else will.
Beagles and Buddies is managed by a strong and sensible woman, Connie Kramer. Her compassion along with her managerial skills make for a very successful, well-run dog-rescue facility with a high rate of placement for the dogs in her care.
I have been a contributor to Beagles and Buddies for over a decade since I adopted my first dog from them. I'm impressed that Ms. Kramer not only makes good use of her staff and volunteers, but also that she has the business skills to allocate the monetary donations wisely. Every donation goes toward feeding and medical care or upgrading the facilities to make the sanctuary a clean and comfortable living space for the dogs.
Some rescue shelters seem to do everything in their power to KEEP a person from adopting a dog. B & B takes the opposite position and devises strategies to help a person through the adoption and home adjustment process.
Staff and volunteers recognize the importance of "socialization" for animals and work with the dogs until they are ready to be adopted into their "forever home." They get to know each canine in their care and make helpful suggestions so that the placement will work for both dogs and people. All our Beagles and Buddies rescue dogs have been such delightful additions to our family.
Connie Kramer runs Beagles and Buddies. She is tireless and has devoted her life to the care of animals in need. I reached out to her when I saw a dog in another shelter that was in dire shape.
She stepped u to the call for help. Since then, I've come to respect and admire her as she has a relationship with dogs that is remarkable. I even started volunteering for Beagles and Buddies for several years because I felt I could learn a lot about what is involved in running a rescue.
Beagles and Buddies has been my sunshine on a rainy day.i started donating a couple years ago and fell in love with this rescue and the people in it.i have really been involved with the help heal center i recently lost my husband to cancer and this rescue gave me the strength to go on.the staff is great everybody is there because they are in it for the dogs love this place
I cannot believe how out of their way B&B goes to help out dogs who need it - they do everything humanly possible. They have saved THOUSANDS of dogs since their start in 1992. I have seen many dogs come in from terrible places and go out to a wonderful home. It's a beautiful place to be!
Beagles & Buddies has been rescuing dogs for many years. Their Apple Valley facility is large with plenty of room for the dogs to run and play. All types of dogs are rescued so if you are looking to adopt, you have lots to choose from. Many are rescued from the kill shelters just before their time is up. B&B is a no-kill shelter.
Exceptional hard work in finding just the most compatible family that will be able to live, love and respect the companionship of all in the household. Some dogs have special needs and some families have special needs. It is imperative that all aspects of the adoption process is followed so everyone is happy. Many dogs find these homes at Beagles and Buddies. It is a great adoption center and a sanctuary for many dogs who can live our their lives there. Lots of space and play areas for all.
AMAZING how much these people care about the dogs they rescue. I adopted my beagle from them 15 years ago just because I saw a picture of the young dog on the internet. Only problem was that I lived 3000 miles away. After many long emails and telephone conversations, they agreed to let me adopt the dog and then helped with the arranging of transport. Beagles and Buddies made such a positive impression on me 15 years ago, that I have continued to follow them and am still amazed at their selfless generosity in caring for the animals as long as their need exists. I finally, after 15 years, was able to make a personal visit to Beagles and Buddies in Apple Valley and was really taken aback by what I saw. Dogs running around everywhere - enjoying life, free to roam, play and explore... dog utopia. The animal's welfare was paramount, addressing the dog's social and medical needs. Elderly or dogs with special needs were doted on and kept in quieter areas away from the noise an activity of the younger ones. A residential home was open for dogs to wander in and out of, jumping on sofas to get better views out of windows or napping under tables... a content, comfortable home-life for the dogs. Beagles and Buddies has created a unique kennel model; by largely eliminating the kennel, they have created an environment whereby, even if never adopted, the animals will live out their natural life in a very pleasant, social and free environment. While able to offer a small monetary donation to their wonderful cause, I know it takes serious money to sustain such an operation. I can't even imagine what their annual dog food and veterinary bills look like, let alone all of the other costs involved in keeping their doors opened and providing a caring, quality life for so many homeless dogs. There is a desperate need for organizations such as Beagles and Buddies to care for abandoned, lost or unwanted animals. After spending time at Beagles and Buddies, it is clear that they are deserving of every cent bestowed upon them. They do this work for the sheer love of the animals and I do not know what the animals would do without them. The dogs at Beagles and Buddies were not frightened and stressed. They were happy and safe and they seemed to know it. There is a special place in Heaven for Connie Kramer and her B & B team of deeply caring volunteers.
I have gotten two dogs from B and B. Twelve years ago I adopted Amity ( black) and four years ago Bernadette ( white). The people at Beagles and Buddies care about dogs and try to match you up with someone that is right for you. I will adopt from them again. Just love Connie and the whole gang there for all the hard work and compassion.
Every easy to work with. I enjoy their post on Facebook.
I volunteer for Beagles and Buddies by running their Facebook page. I've volunteered for a local shelter and there is no comparison the good that Beagles and Buddies do compared to the local shelter. The local shelter only wants to horde their money in Wall Street stocks and bonds (millions of $) and only spends about $40,000 a year on the animals.
I would spend one day a week transporting dogs for Beagles and Buddies from the high kill shelters in the Palm Springs CA area. That was the highest level of satisfaction ever....I stopped counting how many animals that I saved after 18 months. Each of those dogs were so fearful when I would pick them up for their 2+ hour drive to the shelter. Once they got to the shelter, they were overwhelmed with all the love and kindness they received from all of the volunteers.
In April 2015 I adopted loyal buddy, a 13 year old, deaf beagle. Buddy had been at B&B for seven years.
The adoption process was through and easy. Yvette and Connie were the best.
Full medical history, lab results, leash, collar, bandana were included in the adoption. He came freshly bathed as well.
Plenty of follow up with the B&B staff. Buddy was overjoyed at his new home in far FAR Northern California...ocean beach, redwood trees, and snowy mountains 45 mins away.
What more could he ask for other than more dinners and treats?
Beagles and Buddies was wonderful with our latest adoption, Loyal Buddy. Buddy was 13 years old at the time of the adoption and has been a wonderful addition to the family.
B&B made sure we were fully aware of the breeds traits, requirements for exercise, food temptation, and with Buddy being a "senior citizen" the special care he may need.
B&B did follow up communications to make sure that Buddy was fitting in with his new siblings, Suze and Maxx.
For over a decade, I have assisted many 501(3)c animal rescues. I can tell you that there are VERY few animal rescues that operate with the COMPLETE, LONG-TERM EXCELLENCE & RELIABILITY that defines Beagles and Buddies in SoCal.
Beagles and Buddies would be an exemplar animal rescue for Lowe's to both help and be associated with.
This shelter is the best in the area! The dogs at Beagles and Buddies seem to be happy little characters. I remember one day I was there looking to adopt a dog and I sat down on a bench under a tree just as they allowed the big dogs out for a little exercise. The dogs surrounded me and they were all so friendly and wanted to give me a lick. It made me think that if Heaven is half as nice, that would be wonderful!
I got two of my dogs here and I always send friends who are looking for a dog to B & B!
I reached out to beagles and buddies to help an injured homeless dog name Gage. He was pulled from a kill shelter 1 hour before he was to be killed because he was a pitbull and a possible fighting dog. He was injured sick underweight had pneumonia. He ended up having surgery in his face and mouth! After spending time at an animal hospital he went to b&b for more medical care and training! After several months at b&b he was eventually adopted and is now a happy and well behaved member of our family! Thanks to B&B for giving this homeless boy a second chance at life! This is just one of the many happy endings and second chances at B&B were all dogs are loved and can live there safe well taken care off for their entire life.
They may have good intentions, but their follow-up on customer calls, and emails are sub standard. Lets just say that Ms. "C" has never responded to my concerns regarding a Beagle we had to surrender to the shelter back in 2007. My kids have always wanted to know how our former pet, and family member of 6 years was doing. We missed her, but circumstances forced us to give her up. I am very unhappy on how our concerns were never addressed, and our sincere feelings ignored. There's a few reviews on a site called ripoffreport.com that my be of interest to those who are about to embark on a quest to pet adoption. Sorry, but it is what it is. As for Ms."C", I hope you are reading this right now, because you have failed the test, and am issuing you, and your facility a big fat red "F"!
