Mission: The mission of beacon college is to offer academic degree programs to students with learning disabilities.
Programs: Founded in 1989, beacon college was the first college in the country to offer both bachelor(ba) and associate(aa) degrees exclusively for students with learning disabilities and adhd. Beacon's graduation rate of 83. 3% far exceeds the national average for students with learning disabilities as well as the national average for students without a learning disability. Beacon college graduates have an employment and continuing education rate of 82%. These exceptional outcomes have gained the college national recognition. As a result, students and their families from around the united states as well as from other countries seek out beacon for their college experience. There are students from 31 states & 6 countries enrolled at the college. The instructional approach to the rigorous curriculum integrates assistive technology, structured learning support from specialists and peer mentors, and small classes taught by professors using hands-on and alternative teaching techniques. Internships and/or work experiences are required of each student. In addition to the academic program the college offers a wide range of personal support services including life coaches and a career development program. The college is accredited by commission on colleges of the southern association of colleges and schools and currently offers seven majors: business management, computer information systems web and digital media track, computer information systems information systems track, human services, interdisciplinary studies, psychology and studio arts. 221 students were enrolled this fiscal year.
