For the past four years, I have been the teen event coordinator and a reporter on Express Yourself! Teen Radio. I have enjoyed it immensely. Through event planning, I have been able to exercise and develop many life skills that I will continue to use in the future. Cynthia has been by my side with reassurance and support every step of the way. This has allowed me to create an impact within my community that, years ago, I could have never imagined- from setting up and running each annual booth at local festivals, to coordinating a fundraiser with Vineyard Vines. Be The Star You Are charity has given me the incredible gift of freedom and empowerment. Through reaching out to and helping others, I have been fortunate enough to learn and grow as an individual in every way possible.
Being on the radio has always been my creative outlet, a place where I can share my thoughts amongst a community full of support and encouragement. Every week, I always look forward to chatting with the hosts about the topics I am passionate about- from tracing the origins of the women's rights movement to examining historical revolutions in depth and analyze their impact on today's world. The freedom to express yourself on this platform is truly unparalleled, and I would highly recommend taking advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to say what's on your mind amongst such a positive community.
It's been almost three years since I've started volunteering with Be the Star You Are, and I can say with certainty that joining was one of the best decisions of my life. Here, we have the rare organization that not only does good work for the community, but also actively promotes its volunteers and helps afford them the sorts of opportunities not found elsewhere. I've worked as Lead Host of BTSYA's teen radio show, Chairperson of BTSYA's latest efforts in disaster relief, and even published author in BTSYA's latest positive message media anthology. Nowhere else could I have found such service opportunities, and I look forward to taking advantage of them even more in the months and years to come.
I've been volunteering with Be the Star You Are for! for almost two years now, and I have no plans of stopping any time soon. Cynthia Brian and the rest of the team somehow make it so that the charity not only touches the lives of every single person it's aimed at, but also the lives of every single person involved in the organization. I've seen my speaking skills drastically improve after appearing on the Express Yourself! Teen Radio program, and I've loved having a platform to air my views on important issues. We aim to inspire teens everywhere to express themselves, and it's an awesome added benefit to have been inspired myself after working with this organization.
I have been involved with Be the Star you are since I was a teen. The incredible impact it has made on my life and thousands of others, has continued me to stay involved all through my 20's and now in my 30's!! This organization is based on motivating others through the power of possitivity and inspirational media. If you are looking to participate in a non profit, I highly reccomend this one!!! Thank you for every beautiful moment this organization has brought into my life.
"Be the Star You are" has been part of my life for many many years now. I think this is one of the most important and yet under funded charities. If you want to make a difference TODAY for the youth of TOMORROW, volunteer and Donate to this charity. I have seen first hand the positive impact of this organization. Be the Star you Are is continuously working with the community to get possitive and inspirational media ( books, magazine, videos, etc) into the hands of our youth. Also, at BTSYA, many of the volunteers are in their teens and by volunteering with this organization it has helped shaped their future and their views towards being an active member of their community. SUPPORT THIS AWESOME ORGANIZATION!!
I have known the founder of Be the Star You Are! Charity, Cynthia Brian, for over 10 years now, and if anything, time has only made her even more passionate and persevering of her cause. I'm grateful that my very first volunteer experiences as an 8th grader were with her; she' inspired me to continue giving back at a young age and showed me just how many forms "giving back" could take.
Be the Star You Are! Charity is filled with positivity and constantly aims to empower teens across the world. I've worked with this charity for the past ten years and continue to support it because I believe its mission is one of which everyone should always be reminded.
When it comes to non-profits, it's all about the achieving results. And that is what Cynthia Cynthia Brian is simply the best at helping kids of all types. As a best-selling author, I work with many tween and teen groups. Never have I worked with a group that is so passionate and creates so much joy, and incredible success, as "Be The Star Your Are." From donating books to the kids who lost everything in the devastating Camp Fire in Northern California to helping kids who just need a mentor, there is no end to the fabulous work they do. I was very proud when she asked me to donate a couple cases of my "Kandide" series of best selling fantasy adventure novels to Camp Fire fund. Cynthia is always there for the kids. It is such an honor to be there for her and work with this amazing organization.
Amazing is one way to describe this outstanding nonprofit and its fearless leader, Cynthia Brian. Over the years I've seen many instances where Cynthia has been a role model in rallying teen volunteers to reach out to those in need, no matter where they are or what situation presents itself.
I had the honor of writing two chapters (The Gift of Adoption and The Gift of Mentoring) in Cynthia's most recently published book as well as doing radio broadcasts. My main focus is now on scattering kindness -- www.scattering kindness.com and through Be The Star You Are, I have been able to share many ideas in their monthly newsletter.
I support this fine organization because I believe in their cause and their leadership, and I encourage you to do the same.
I have been so fortunate to be a volunteer for this great organization! Each month I write articles which are then published in their newsletter. This has given me an opportunity to share my writing skills and more importantly, to spread some good messages and to scatter kindness.
Cynthia Brian, CEO of Be The Star You Are is a wonderful role model and inspiration for many! If not for her, I probably would never have learned about this great cause and had a desire to support them.
This is one nonprofit that has earned your support!
I am a reporter and host for Be the Star You Are's Express Yourself Teen Radio. Being part of the BTSYA family has empowered me to positively impact the youth community and make my voice heard. I have strengthened my communication skills by participating in various BTSYA's radio shows. From writing scripts to interviewing guests, this platform has been providing me endless opportunities for professional development. Cynthia is a great mentor -- there are not enough words in the dictionary to describe how supportive and inspirational she has been since the beginning. I am so blessed and fortunate to work with her and the BTSYA team!
Be The Star You Are Inc. is a wonderful nonprofit that supports children's literacy. My company, Children's Success Unlimited LLC, has had the pleasure to work with Cynthia Brian and her team to donate Blue Ocean Bob children's books to families in need throughout the country following natural disasters and for underprivileged communities. With a focus on youth and a positive message, this nonprofit deserves recognition and support for the amazing work that it does to empower and inspire the next generation.
Be The Star You Are ("BTSYA") is a wonderful charity and radio program linking authors with positive messages to those who can benefit most - at-risk children and families. Cynthia Brian is a dedicated and extremely talented host and leader for BTSYA. Cynthia and BTSYA allowed me to bring my message of purpose, passion and ocean-awareness in The Adventures of Blue Ocean Bob to the public and has distributed my books to children who othewise would not have access to them. In this way, BTSYA is a critical link between authors and publishers like me and the families and children with the most to gain from our work. I am grateful to have been selected as a BTSYA guest author.
Be the Star You Are!® 01/26/2011
We thank you, Brooks, for wanting to make sure that kids everywhere get to read the message of The Adventures of Blue Ocean Bob. Your spirit of generosity is contagious.
BTSYA is honestly amazing. As of now, I've been volunteering as a reporter and host for BTSYA's teen radio show for only a few months, but it's already provided me with so much. It's given me countless opportunities to speak about my interests, have fun, meet new people, and grow and develop as a person. Cynthia Brian is unbelievably kind and supportive, and an amazing leader and mentor all around. I am truly honored to be a part of this team.
Be The Star You Are changed my life! The organization's founder, Cynthia Brian, is the world's greatest mentor and the most selfless individual I have ever known or worked with. I wish there was an option to rate this nonprofit 10 stars!!! -Henna Hundal
Be The Star You Are is a gamechanger! By providing platforms for youth to express themselves and build the confidence they need to succeed in the real world, the organization empowers and uplifts the future generation. For the tremendous impact BTSYA has had on my life, I am eternally grateful.
Can't believe that Be the Star You Are! is part way through its 20th year as a 501 c3 charity. It has been quite the journey. The volunteers continue their quest to help in so many areas. Our two radio broadcasts are booming, book review volunteers herald from around the world, and our Operation Disaster Relief program is helping thousands of people affected by devastations. We launched our 3rd book in the Be the Star You Are! series, Be the Star You Are! Millennials to Boomers Celebrating gifts of Positive Voices in a Changing Digital World with 31 contributors from Be the Star You Are!. Youth who began with us in middle school or high school have graduated or are graduating university and thriving. Thanks to everyone who supports this marvelous organization. YOU ARE THE STARS!
What an amazing journey it has been being a volunteer and a leader at Be the Star You Are!® since 1999. As the charity enters its 19th year, the programs and services continue to grow and truly make a difference in lives of people in the USA and around the world. Disaster Relief was provided for victims of the hurricanes and fires, book reviews were uploaded for parents, teachers, librarian, families enjoyed BTSYA services at numerous community events, a new book has been published and a millennial book is forthcoming this year. The young adult radio broadcast, Express Yourself! boasts teens who know how to think on their feet and the lifestyle show, StarStyle-Be the Star You Are provides concrete tools for living a life of passion, possibility, and purpose. Thanks everyone for being part of global change with BTSYA.
BTSYA is a beautiful organization that I’m proud to have been a part of even for a fleeting second. I hope it continually thrives and I hope you never lose that passion to help others. And thank you for this incredible opportunity.
Another great year as a teen volunteer for Be The Star You Are! Only ever the best things to say about Cynthia Brian's amazing mentoring and the work that the charity accomplishes. This year, Be The Star You Are! provided victims of Hurricane Harvey and Irma and the Napa fires with books and living items. Be The Star You Are! volunteers came together as a team to bring donations to families and individuals in need of care after each natural disaster. I'm so grateful to be a part of this charity and participate in amazing outreach projects under Cynthia's guidance. Read, Lead, Succeed!
I love BTSYA! I joined in 9th grade and the organization has become a big part of my life. I'm proud to be part of Be The Star! You Are and I personally think that this organization is unique in its message and goal of literacy and positive media. BTSYA has brought me so many opportunities. I've interviewed best-selling authors, TV show stars, anime voice actors, artists, and even a numerologist, a cryptologist and video game creator on Express Yourself, our teen outreach service radio. I talk with other teens every week on the radio, discussing our views on current events and societal values. Through BTSYA I get to host and volunteer at local events and see how books and positive media impact the citizens in my town, and I've been able to give back to my community in an innovative way that really matters.
BTSYA is made up of purely positive energy. Being part of it has helped me pull negativity away from my life so well that I've even been able to see my political views from another light; I am rather more liberal in terms of beliefs and views and when I am on Express Yourself! I interact with people who identify as conservative and they have helped me realize that at the end of the day, we all hold the same human-ness inside and we all wish to make the world a better place no matter what our political views are. I think with America's recent political climate that this is the kind of thing that is important---positive media that reinforces the good within us and pulls us away from squabbling over who's on what side. And I think BTSYA really accomplishes just that.
In the three years that I've been part of Be The Star! You Are, I feel that I've really grown as a person and as a volunteer. With the help of the support network BTSYA provides and under the guidance of Cynthia Brian I've been able to learn and find a path to the good in my everyday life. Right now, I'm improving my communication skills by finding and helping to coordinate guests for the radio show! I'll close this review by letting everyone know that honestly Cynthia Brian is the positive force behind this positive media charity---she is absolutely wonderful and she is key to our efforts and improvement. Working under her guidance for these past three years has been incredible and she is so positive even when times are tough; I can't claim Cynthia as my specific role model because honestly she's so inspiring that she's everybody's role model!
Be The Star You Are Inc. is a phenomenal nonprofit that does amazing work in local communities and internationally. The volunteers are passionate and committed about empowering others and one another. I've worked with this group virtually for the past two years and it has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. Other nonprofits should model their organization after BTSYA because they are great and have such a high impact.
BTSYA is a phenomenal organization that goes above and beyond to help communities throughout the U.S while allowing its volunteers to grow with it. I'm extremely fortunate to be a part of the BTSYA team and have the opportunity to work closely with so many passionate people who are motivated to make a difference in literacy and more. As a second year volunteer with the organization, I've felt nothing but support and understanding with those who I've worked with. I'm excited to continue to see where this group will go! BTSYA rocks! - Liz
I have been a volunteer for Be The Star You Are for almost two years now. I am currently a teen reporter and host for one of BTSYA's outreach programs, Express Yourself Teen Radio. Just the other day, I was having a college interview, and the interviewer asked me whether I often found myself changing my opinions and perspectives about certain topics or situations. At first, I responded, "No, not really." However, I immediately corrected my response as I thought of Express Yourself Teen Radio. Every time we have had a reporter or guest on air with us, I have learned something new. Sometimes, this "new" information is simply a fact that I did not know, but often, instead, the "new" information is a perspective that I did not previously consider. For example, it never occurred to me to see drug use more as drug dependence than drug abuse. It never occurred to me that people who leave their homes for the safety of a shelter often must leave their beloved pets behind. It never occurred to me that the hooded figure chasing me in my dreams might be me. None of these ideas occurred to me until I heard them from a reporter or guest on the radio show. In this way, volunteering for Be The Star You Are gives me not one, but two or three, or even four, more perspectives on a topic. As we discuss a theme, I am often reminded of my personal experiences, and those memories become much more valuable to me as I connect them to our on-air discussions. When I meet people, I have many more stories to tell and many more perspectives to explain because of Be The Star You Are and Express Yourself. Of all the organizations and programs out there, I believe that Be The Star You Are is the best way to better know the world, better understand others, and better appreciate yourself. As a volunteer, I know from experience that as a part of BTSYA, you learn, you grow, and you smile.
Working with Cynthia Brian for Be the Star You Are has been one of the best opportunities and decisions of my life. As a volunteer for Be the Star You Are, I have been able to expand my communication skills in both writing and speaking. With the world constantly changing and advancing, people are becoming busier and busier. As a result, we often find less time to read and write for entertainment or take a moment to reflect on the positive aspects of life. Be The Star You Are reminds people about the small and large sources of inspiration and encouragement in life and ways to overcome obstacles and move forward toward goals. After entering high school, my priorities veered toward non practical and academic-oriented objectives. I can confidently say that volunteering for Be the Star You Are has reminded me of the importance and joy of positive messages and has rekindled my love for reading and writing. Be the Star You Are promotes positive media and literacy in such an inspirational and memorable way that it not only impacts its listeners and readers, but is also a transformative experience for its volunteers.
I am SO thankful I found this wonderful organization, who has managed to bring me so much more than I could have ever imagined. I've been a part of this charity for three years, beginning from the second semester of my freshman year of high school, as the event coordinator and one of the teen reporters on the radio. Throughout the years, my experience with Be the Star You Are has pushed me to explore different aspects of myself, as well as developing leadership skills that will be essential to my future.
My personal experience with Be The Star You Are is, and always has been, fantastic. I started book-reviewing with BTSYA when I was in high school and am still involved today, now three years out of college. Through this charity I was able to become a published author, get interviewed on television, and write & co-host its radio show. I would highly recommend this charity to any young person looking to get involved in the community and/or looking for a career in media. The founder Cynthia Brian is a great leader, mentor, and connection.
Be The Star You Are has enriched the lives of many. From those like me who have gained valuable experience working side by side its fantastic leader, Cynthia. And for those who lives have been bettered by what BTSYA has to offer. It is one of the best charity's in the Bay Area.
I am proud to be a part of the BTSYA team. Cynthia Brian has graciously welcomed my writing, proofreading and researching skills for the nonprofit's books and radio shows, which promote the wonderful cause of literacy through a variety of topics. She is an incredible mentor who deeply cares about helping people see and tap into their inner potential.
I highly recommend “Be The Star You Are!” and give it a very enthusiastic 5 star rating! I have volunteered for several other organizations, but I can honestly say that “Be The Star You Are!” surpasses them all for the contributions to its cause and what it has meant to me as volunteer. Over the past two years, I have had the exciting and rewarding experience to volunteer as a field reporter for the teen radio show “Express Yourself”, from the “Be the Star You Are!” charity. In this capacity I have had the chance to report on numerous topics that are interesting and inspiring to teens. I strongly support founder Cynthia Brian’s life-changing message to listeners to “Read, Lead, Succeed!” and I love the fact that I am helping to provide a positive and empowering message to teens across the country and beyond! “Be The Star You Are!” does so many things in addition to broadcasting, such as publishing inspirational books under the same name, for which I am so proud to have contributed a chapter in its most recent edition. This past year, the organization made a difference with the Hurricane Matthew Relief Project, donating books to organizations in the affected area. It also has many other outreach programs that promote literacy to help women and youth. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this organization and what it means to me to be a part of it!
I had the pleasure of working with Cynthia Brian for multiple years. As part of her team at BTSYA, I witnessed firsthand how meaningful and effective nonprofit charities can be. As a collaborative team, we truly made a difference through a combination of volunteer outreach, book events, and community-based programming. Besides gaining valuable event-planning experience at the charity, I found a unique springboard for my current writing career. I'm still thankful for the wonderful opportunities BTSYA afforded me and the friendships I made during my time there.
I had a wonderful experience volunteering with Be The Star You Are! Cynthia Brian's positive attitude empowers everyone around her and encourages Lamorinda residents to give back. By far the best charity work I've ever participated in!
