For many years, I volunteered answering underprivileged children's letters to Santa. I was so glad to see this charity get launched a few years back. Every year they've been recruiting more and more volunteers who answer the kids' letters and mail them gifts. Until Be An Elf came along, there was no good guide available to the public on how to effectively participate in the letters to Santa program. Also, the postal service did not blow its horn loudly enough about it, in my opinion. Be An Elf fills these needs nicely. It's a charity I fully support. Making needy kids smile on Christmas is a cause very near and dear to my heart. I hope you will support this charity too, and get involved, if you live anywhere near a participating postal branch. I no longer live near one, and I'm glad Be An Elf is there and recruiting so many new volunteers every Christmas.

Being in the charity world, I am always looking for something that I might have missed and a friend told me about Be An Elf. Yes, this is something I would like to get involved with and in any field I can be helpful for and I would like to share with all of my friends.

I found out about this charity when the Today Show gave out their website as the best way to learn where and how to answer letters to Santa written by needy kids and families. We don't live near a post office that offers the Santa letters from the low income kids, so every Christmas we give to this group. They send gifts to the children who write those heartbreaking letters, and by December 1 each year, their website posts a list of all the participating post offices in the nation. Believe me, that list can be hard to find at the USPS website.

Perhaps most important, if they get enough donations, they hire a publicist who does a great job getting the media to cover the story every year. As a result, I'm pretty sure they've helped recruit countless new volunteers to answer those heart-wrenching Santa letters.

So thank you and bravo to www.BeAnElf.org - they help fill us with true Christmas spirit every December, and many, many others as well.

I'm always looking for opportunities for my family to help others. I'm trying to teach my kids the value of what we have and how blessed we are. When I read about this charity I thought what an opportunity to have a great discussion with my daughters and show them that we can be a blessing to others. They make it so easy and that is what I really like about this charity

Be An Elf is a wonderful and vital charity that brings happiness and hope to all who benefit from it. Many are left out or in dire circumstances at holiday time and this charity fills a very important void. To bring happiness to so many at such a time of year when many are depressed and feeling hopeless is a selfless gift. Be An Elf changes lives.

I love this Charity - Be An Elf - what better way is there to encourage people to bring light and happiness to the lives of underprivileged kids. The gifts go direct to the children, and it's so simple.
Also this charity gives people a happy experience for themselves, being part of a real act of charity and not some impersonal donation.
I'm happy to be a friend who can bring notice to Be An Elf, so it gets the accolades it needs to succeed in a crowded world of charities.
There are so many unhappy children in our country today, and Christmas is the time when they surely feel the most left out and sad. So Be An Elf and cheer them up.

Be An Elf has given me a truly wonderful way to get gifts I buy and wrap with friends directly under the trees of low income children in Los Angeles. I only wish I could be there to see their smiles and wonder on Christmas morning! I'm definitely taking my children to the post office in South Central LA around December 10th, to teach them the REAL meaning of Christmas. If I weaken and adopt too many letters, I am going to have a Christmas party to raise funds from friends, so I can send each of the Moms each a gift card from Target! Thank you, Be An Elf.

This is a truly awesome charity.

Rarely does one get the opportunity to help a child in direct need... There is always a middle man and you can never be sure that your donation is going where you want it to go... With Be An Elf, I can help a specific child's life be a little brighter... I LOVE that!

I love this charity -- they tirelessly recruit hundreds of new volunteers who send presents to kids living below the poverty line in time for Christmas. They also answer letters from single mothers who write to Santa, often including their kids' clothing and shoe sizes in hopes of a surprise gift they can't afford themselves. One little girl wrote, All I want for Christmas is shoes for my older brother! I'm donating all I can to this great org. Thank you, Be An Elf! I'm going to organize my friends this year, and have a gift wrapping Christmas party, thanks to their website's How To page.

After some looking around, we've determined that Be An Elf's website offers best information available to the public about how and where to volunteer for the USPS Operation Santa program. It's well written and thoughtfully done. If you want to volunteer during the Christmas season, and wish to learn where the branches are and what to expect, check out www.BeAnElf.org There are some smart gift recommendations for needy children, and other useful info on the 'How To Be An Elf' page. It also appears their press release was excellent (posted on the site), and we are sure they are recruiting plenty of new volunteers for the USPS program every December.
