Causes: Community Improvement & Capacity Building
Mission: BAYCAT educates, emeowers and employs underserved youth and young adults to produce digital media that tells their unique stories and engages them to positively transform themselves?their communities and the world.
Programs: Academy- baycat academy, an internationally-acclaimed media arts school and workforce training program, provides free digital media training to youth of color, young women and low income young people ages 11-25. We worked with 82 students onsite through after-school and summer programs, and with 35 young people through our offsite workshop on wheels program. Youth produced 2 full episodes of youth-produced web series zoom in, a special showcase on innovation, and a music video and live performance. We had 5 media projects featured at 6 different film festivals. We trained, mentored and hired 19 interns to work with baycat studio, graduated 14 interns, and placed 7 graduates into paid positions with major bay area employers. Our media had an international audience of over 60,000.
studio- baycat studio is the go-to media production company for socially conscious clients who want high quality video production and branding services in the bay area and beyond. We worked on 83 projects with 35 clients, 22 of which were nonprofit organizations. Clients included: disability rights advocates (dra), epacenter arts, zaccho dance theatre, sfdph, bayview opera house, raising a reader, as well as many local merchants, businesses and nonprofits.
