Mission: Non-profit community theatre in lake county, florida
Programs: Bay street players (bsp) is entering its 43nd main stage season, its 41th young people's theater season, and its second year of the state theatre studio series. At a minimum, we are confident that the same high standards of over forty years will continue for another forty years. We strive for higher quality every year. To that end, we hired a managing artistic director this year. Bsp has, in the past, concentrated on theater stage productions - musicals, comedies and dramas. In the last few years, the community has asked for special events, and we have accommodated that request. Our patrons and community want the theater to have something special nearly every weekend, and we are close to that busy. To offer musicals of especially high quality, we started the state theatre studio series, which performs five productions per year. The shows selected for the series have more appeal to younger audiences, since they don't have to satisfy the conservative tastes of our season ticket holders. These short run musicals hire actors who would not be available for longer runs due to their many commitments to professional theatre. The series has garnered rave reviews from audience members.
