Mission: The mission of the baruch s. Blumberg institute is to use discovery science to find new therapies for viral hepatitis and liver cancer; to advance its research discoveries through traditional scholarship and educational opportunities; to nurture biotechnology and to promote public health outreach programs to improve the quality of life for those affected by viral hepatitis.
Programs: Research - to discover and/or assist in the discovery of therapeutics, diagnostics, and pathogenesis of medically important diseases in general and viral hepatitis and related diseases in particular.
natural products discovery - to maintain, grow, and perform research on the natural products collection for the benefit of human and animal health; to make this collection available to qualified researchers around the world; to teach others about therapeutic drug discovery using natural products; and to help advance the research mission of the hepatitis b foundation and its research organization, the bsbi.
public health outreach and training - to promote awareness of liver diseases and chronic diseases; to promote education and training in the area of liver disease along with discovery research and public health.
