Causes: Disaster Aid, Search & Rescue Squads
Mission: To organize and conduct search and rescue operations for persons and/or property reported missing or delayed in the north slope area of alaska and to conduct public education programs about survival techniques for any season on the north slope as well as snow machine and other motor maintenance and repair.
Programs: Barrow, ak is primarily a whaling community of approximately 4,600 residents. There are occasions when people get lost on the tundra, ice, or ocean. Barrow search & rescue is a first response unit that reacts to crisis of all kinds.
