I moved to Glasgow Kentucky from Northern New York. All I knew was my husband and our one year old child. I had no social life or drive for much due to feeling very depressed from the lack of a social life, that was until I decided it was time to get out. I joined a gym to work out and feel better about myself, physically and mentally. What I found was another family that welcomed my beautiful family into their home town. Greeted Daily with a smile & people who genuinely cared, offering advice, showing and telling us what was going on around town I began to feel more comfortable and at home in our new town. My family enjoys using all aspects of the YMCA facility. The pool, the basketball gym, fitness gyms, nursery, and of course my now, 3 children’s favorite thing the indoor play maze! Being able to sign my children up for sports to help them learn social interaction and learn the game and also having them take swim lessons with amazing instructors that care how they feel at an affordable price is an amazing feeling to provide for my family. We love our Barren County Family YMCA

The Barren County Family YMCA is located in rural South Central Kentucky. People in our area are the most friendly and supportive people that you will find anywhere. It is evident by walking through the doors of the YMCA. The staff greets you with a smile and members share their friendship with open arms. This YMCA opened its doors over 26 years ago with a beautiful facility that was 100% supported by donors. People come to the Y to fulfill a goal whether it is to be physically fit or socially connected. They discover so much more. There is a real sense of community and commitment to embrace fellowship, to encourage others and to make this facility more than just a gym. I moved to this small town four months ago. I honestly feel at home and a real sense of belonging. I invite everyone to stop by if you are in South Central Kentucky. Experience a community service organization like no other. You will feel like family at the Barren County Family YMCA.

I am a single mom with two children and can barely afford a gym membership. The Barren County Family YMCA did not turn me away. Instead they gave me some information on their scholarships. I filled out a form and turned in verification of my income. They accepted it and now my children and I can enjoy the YMCA anyday we want based on my income. I love that they do not turn people away regardless of their ability to pay.
