Provides the following:--free care and/or subsidized care where the need and/or an individual's inability to pay coexist,--care provided to persons covered by governmental programs at below cost, and--health activities and programs to support the communitythese activities include wellness programs, community education programs, and special programs for the elderly, handicapped, medically underserved, and a variety of broad community support activities. Therefore, in keeping with its commitment to serve all members of its community, baptist memorial hospital-tipton, inc. Provides the following:--free care and/or subsidized care where the need and/or an individual's inability to pay coexist,--care provided to persons covered by governmental programs at below cost, and--health activities and programs to support the community. These activities include wellness programs, community education programs, and special programs for the elderly, handicapped, medically underserved, and a variety of broad community support activities. Baptist memorial hospital-tipton program services for the period ending september 30, 2017 included:the oncology department performed 72,807 procedures at a cost of $43,555,851. The radiology department performed 33,584 procedures at a cost of $1,815,589. The er department had 23,113 visits at a cost of $1,615,742. The laboratory department performed 107,571 procedures at a cost of $1,196,268. During the year ending september 30, 2017, baptist memorial hospital-tipton provided services for 1,187 inpatients and more than 56,054 outpatients. Baptist memorial hospital-tipton provides care to persons covered by governmental programs from which the hospital receives at less than market value reimbursement. Recognizing its mission to the community, services are provided to medicare, medicaid and uninsured patients. To the extent reimbursement is below cost, baptist memorial hospital-tipton recognizes these amounts as charity care in meeting its mission to the entire community. During the year ending september 30, 2017, the un-reimbursed value of providing care to these patients was $198,260,818. Charity care is also provided through many reduced price services and free programs offered throughout the year based upon activities and services which baptist memorial hospital-tipton believes will serve a bona fide community health need. Educational programs were offered to the public on a periodic basis. Also various support and community groups regularly meet in the hospital meeting rooms. Breast cancer awareness- during october the mammography patients received promotional educational materials as well as give-aways to promote awareness. Breast cancer awareness give away items are given to all women who come in during the month of october to have their mammograms. Ads are run in the covington leader to encourage women to get mammograms. . Nursing students from dyersburg state come to bmh-tipton to complete their clinical rotations. Students also come from concorde to receive training in the lab, respiratory therapy, radiology and pharmacy. Meeting rooms were offered to area community groups such as the volunteer chaplains, hospital volunteer auxiliary, diabetes support groups, and cancer support groups. The gideons met monthly in our conference room. Free childbirth classes are offered to the community. Community team captains for the march of dimes hold their luncheons, catered by the hospital, while preparing for the yearly walk america campaign in april. Lifeblood holds quarterly blood drives at the hospital each year. Use of this hospital space equals approximately $17,000 in contributions to the community benefits.
