Mission: Bla is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that strengthens youth and their families with empowerment, enrichment, and extended academic success. Through leadership training using the 12 pillars of leadership and the level of leadership support program, we provide youth and their families with a safe and positive environment for youth to become leaders
Programs: Blas teen empowerment initiative youth leadership advocacy boards, the friday night lights teen leadersip academy and saturday night life focuses on crime and violence prevention, healthy living, employment and the transition from young men and women to adults. Empowerment services are open to youth, ages 13-19, with cultural and historical enrichment, experiential and service learning activities and services that empowers them with improved self-esteem, leadership, life and social competency to prevent youth from becoming engaged in high risk behaviors such as drugs, alcohol, abuse, gangs, crime, and violence.
Banister Leadership Academy promotes leadership of youth, something that continues to be a need in our community. Akile has done a wonderful job and his staff and board continue to do creative things in the community to inspire our young people to be our future thinkers and leaders.
