There should be an option to choose several roles above. The Arts alliance encourages total participation by everyone including performing, volunteering, donating, conducting and taking classes, attending functions and much more.
The Balch Springs community is about 10 square miles and includes over 20,000 residents; more than 1/3 of which are below poverty level. By offering experiences in the arts, the alliance is enriching the lives of many residents as well as nearby communities.
Our youth need outlets for their creativity and the Arts Alliance provides one.
I run an internet magazine and have worked with the Balch Springs Arts Alliance on a few events and I have seen first hand how much they work towards benefiting the city. They support our local Youth and work very hard to bring a wonderful program of arts & entertainment to the citizens of Balch Springs.
I have been to many of the performances of the Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance. It's a mixture of seasoned and unseasoned performers. We have been able to watch the younger ones grow in cofindence and their performances are better each time. I have a smile on my face and laughter in my heart after each show. They are an asset to our community. Thanks to all of them for bringing "art" to our little city.
I've enjoyed watching many performances at the arts alliance. These are quality performances that include local youth onstage with professionals. As a store owner I interact with a lot of our local youth and I can see a big change in those who have been involved with programs at the arts alliance. My 10-year old nephew takes guitar classes. Several of the local teenagers participate in the Young Entrepreneur Club. These teenagers put on a halloween festival in 2010 through the arts alliance and raised funds to support the young entrepreneur program. It was an outstanding event, especially since it was youth-led and coordinated.
I have been around the entertainment and arts industry for years, and never have I encountered an organization that worked harder to bring the arts to a small community. Not only has it given untested performers a chance to experience the stage, it also gives experienced performers an opportunity to give back to the community. And in addition, I have heard many audience members comment that they would have never experienced a show like this if the Balch Springs Arts Alliance had not put it on. This is a very worthy cause with a very dedicated founder.
The organization is just three years old but they have already created several programs to serve the community, especially youth and families. In addition to their community productions and their art classes they also work with the Balch Springs Chamber of Commerce in two areas. One is to educate youth age 13--22 through the Balch Springs Young Entrepreneur Program. The second is to partner with the chamber of commerce in planning and implementing community events. The 2010 Cinco de Mayo was a great success in part by the participation of the arts alliance in bringing professional talent as well as our local talent to the stage during the event. The event had a record number of attendees on its first night. The majority of these were families spending quality time at a cultural event. It was awesome!
The Alliance has been vital to the community from an artistic viewpoint, but its greatest contribution has been to the youth of the the community. Several youth have found a home for performance and expression that would not have existed had this organization not come into existence. I have been involved in some of the programs, and I have seen enthusiasm and productivity among the young performers.
I just love to see their productions. They use a number of youth along with professionals in their shows. That way the youth can learn about acting, singing, dancing, etc. And they can perform on stage.
They also offer classes in art, dance, drama, singing, guitar, photography. This is a real boost for a community that has no other programs like this. And for those children whose families can't afford classes they offer scholarships so everyone has an opportunity.
I just wish they offered country dance lessons. I love to dance. Until they do I will keep going to their shows.
I have had the privilege of performing with the Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance on many occasions. I have also had the joy of working with young people who have come and performed with us. It was wonderful to watch how they grew in confidence with each rehearsal and performance. I myself also increased my confidence in performance and it has enriched my life in many ways.
The Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance has been a great asset to the community and those abroad. It gives everyone an opportunity for cultural exposure and great performances. Alvester
I LOVE the arts alliance, Sandra discovered me when i competed in Balch Springs idol. That was my first time performing in front of a crowd and being judged by judges. Ever since then my career started as an artist. I began to perform with them in monthly shows and gaining more and more experience as well as exposure to being in front of an audience. It has been very helpful to me as a singer being in such a positive atmosphere and working with such talented helpful people and I am very thankful to have such an amazing alliance in town.
The Balch Springs Visual and Performing Art Alliance (BSVPAA) is an amazing organization that is trying to enrich an area that has never had an arts organization like this before. While most towns and cities in our area have had community arts organizations for years, Balch Springs has been lacking in this department. This organization is striving to find a wholesome outlet for area youth and better serve the community by providing affordable art classes. The BSVPAA is working hard to fill a need that is vitally needed in the area and their efforts should be truly acknowledged.
The Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance is the sole medium for young youth and the public at large to receive exposure to the arts through thetrical productions, musical performances and resources by means of educational courses that aim to promote involvement in the arts.
As a board member, but most importantly as an audience member, I've attended most of the theater showcases and have thoroughly enjoyed the fusion of comedy, music and theatrics in each production. Limited resources have not taken away from the abundance of talent ranging from backstage hands to the on-stage performers.
I've attended several performances of the Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance. They work with local youth to teach them theatre and singing skills. Some of these youth had never been onstage before or in front of an audience. Participating in the rehearsals and the shows really gave them a lot of confidence. One highschool student has really changed. When he first got involved he was a little angry all the time. Now he seems to be happer. He's learned to express himself better so he's not holding 'it in' all the time.
This is also the first arts organization in Balch Springs and a big asset to the community. The only drawback is that there is no newspaper in the city so it's difficult to get the word out about programs and performances. If they can find a way to promote themselves better they will be able to serve more people.
I'm looking forward to their 2011 programs.
