Backpacks for New beginnings collects and distributes new backpacks chock full of school supplies and other back-to-school essentials to kids in need. For several years, my school age neighbors Jackson and Tristan Kelley, along with their parents, friends and a community of supporters, have fundraised, gathered, compiled and distributed thousands of backpacks to kids in time for the September start of school.
Over the years, both boys have assumed increased responsibility for fundraising, organizing, PR, and distribution for the charity. They have learned business and non-profit management skills, met hundreds of new people, and have had a chance to give back to our community. This year their sister Violet will join in the family charitable effort. Kudos to the Kelleys...this is a terrific charity.
