Volunteering at Backpack Society is really fun and helps me earn my community service hours. It’s cool to pack Student Weekend Bags for kids who need extra food. Everyone there is super nice. It feels great to help out, and I get to count the hours for school. If you want to help other kids and get some hours, you should come volunteer here too!
Volunteering at Backpack Society has been deeply rewarding. This organization tackles food insecurity in children. As a volunteer, I've helped distribute essential food resources to families, ensuring children can focus on their education and growth. The team, led by founder June M. Everett, is passionate and welcoming. Every task, from packing food bags to organizing inventory, feels impactful. I highly recommend getting involved with Backpack Society to anyone eager to make a real difference in their community.
I really enjoy volunteering at Backpack Society. I started volunteering here a couple of years ago with my son who needed volunteer hours for his high school graduation requirement and I continue to volunteer on my own now. Everyone is so welcoming and I love being a part of an organization that is helping to feed the children in my local community.
This amazing non profit has been such an important asset to the community. It is incredible to see what they have done in the last several years, building community and providing hope for many families!
I have been volunteering with this organization for several years and everyone is so kind and loves to serve! I love that people of all ages are able to volunteer and others in their community!
I've had the pleasure of volunteering with Backpack Society for over 4 years. The other volunteers in the food pantry are fabulous to work with and have their hearts in the right place! Their mission of making sure that kids have enough to eat on weekends in so important. We all want kids in Douglas County, Littleton and Englewood to come to school ready to learn on Monday mornings!
As a counselor at a partner high school, I am so grateful to Backpack Society and the wonderful work they do for our families! They help fill a need in our community by stocking our office pantry with snacks for students in need, dropping off a weekly set of weekend meal bags for specific students, provide generous holiday meal kits, and give our students meaningful volunteer experience if they are looking for a way to give back. Their email communication is clear and timely, often including flyers in both English and Spanish, so I can easily spread the word to our school community about the amazing opportunities they offer! Our partnership over the past 4 years has been such a positive experience, I'd encourage any school that isn't currently working with them to get in touch and learn more!
This non-profit organization is a valuable asset to Douglas County and surrounding communities. Backpack Society focuses on families and students, coupled with a responsive and kind board and volunteer base, they have a strong commitment to serving the needs of the community. Whether its Thur. night family grocery pick up, emergency support, or student weekend bags, this organization's dedication to providing a valuable resource is commendable and overlooked by many.
The Backpack Society is a true lifeline for our students and families facing food insecurity. Their dedication to ensuring no child goes hungry, especially on weekends, is nothing short of remarkable. The simple act of providing take-home weekend food bags makes an immeasurable difference in the lives of these children. Knowing they have nutritious meals to sustain them when school isn't in session alleviates a huge burden and allows them to focus on learning and growing.
Beyond the individual student bags, the Backpack Society's family food box program is a game-changer. By offering families the opportunity to sign up for supplemental food, they address the issue of hunger at its root. This program not only provides nourishment but also fosters a sense of community support, letting families know they are not alone. The Backpack Society understands that food insecurity affects the entire family, and their comprehensive approach is truly impactful to the students and families in our school district. The Backpack Society is an invaluable community partner to Englewood Schools.
Backpack Society has been a game changer for our high school's students and families. Through participation in their School Pantry program, our school has gotten grab-and-go snacks for our students. Receiving these snacks means students who are hungry and unable to concentrate during class can quickly pop down to the counseling office to grab something to eat. It has also helped us build bridges with students during difficult conversations by having a positive low-stacks interaction. Before our partnership with Backpack Society we were spending $500-$1000 a year supplying snacks for our students. Now we can use those funds to sponsor community events, student projects, fidgets, and much more for our students. We are truly grateful for this organization.
I have been working with the Backpack Society for almost 4years and they have been so great with helping our families in need at our Nova program. I am so thankful for all they provide our students on a weekly basis with snacks for our pantry needs and weekend bags and boxes.
I found BPS as my assignment at my job. I was given and assignment to find a local non-profit so we can give back to the community. When I ran across BPS I was impressed with their mission but when we went to the pantry to donate needed items, I fell in love. Not one single person gets paid there, I can see how passionate everyone is. Please support BPS and you will be helping less fortunate kids. May you prosper and grow and may G-D Bless you all.
Backpack Society is helping students & families in need in our community one bag of food at a time! The non-profit is 100% community and volunteer driven and they strive to eliminate hunger & food insecurity among school aged children and their families. The founder June and her team have a passion for helping others and it shows in all they do. I am so glad that I found this great non-profit and that I can help make a difference in my community. I hope you will consider giving food or monetary donations as well as giving your time to this organization!
My first impression of Backpack Society was how easy it was to sign up to become a volunteer as the website is very user-friendly and informative. You even receive a reminder email of your upcoming volunteer commitment. My second impression was how welcoming and organized Backpack Society is. June took the time to give me a tour upon my first visit to BPS and explained how the food bank worked, and I've been hooked ever since. To work at the food bank has its own rewards of knowing you are supplying families with healthy and nutritious food to feed them for the week, and the families are always grateful for this service. The bonus is the other volunteers are a pleasure to work with. Everyone is hard-working, pleasant and happy to be part of such a meaningful organization.
Backpack Society is an amazing place to volunteer. I loved the chance to help people that could be our neighbors or friends. No child should have to go to school hungry. No family should have to feel embarrassed that they can’t feed their families. Backpack Society meets a need that we all wish didn’t exist, but it does. Thankfully BPS is there to help.
The best thing about Backpack Society is that everything they do is about the community! I love that my kids can come volunteer with me so they can learn about giving back too. The first time I volunteered I felt welcome and appreciated and had such a great time! Everyone truly loves being together! I also love that the people who receive help leave feeling happy and loved! Backpack Society is all about community and everyone helping each other.
I am the social media coordinator for Backpack Society. I have been with our organization for almost 2 years. From the Board of Directors all the way to the volunteers, this group is amazing. June and Laurel are incredibly kind and grateful to everyone who works with them. Despite incredible growth things stay organized and flow well. I absolutely love the work we do, our story, and the incredible women I get to work with daily. As crazy as things are getting for us you always feel as if your work is cherished and appreciated. My experience with BPS has been nothing short of magical and incredibly rewarding and I am excited for everything ahead. We are on to great things!
As a volunteer with the Backpack Society I make deliveries to elementary schools with food for students to have over the weekend when they are not at school. The administrative staff are so grateful for the weekly deliveries - they thank the organization on behalf of their students saying “you have no idea how much this helps our families”. This feedback makes it easy to be a volunteer! The concept of addressing food insecurity through schools is unique and should be applauded and supported.
The amazing ladies at the Backpack Society have done so much for my family!!
They have helped put HEALTHY, FRESH, DELICIOUS food on our table for the past several months. They even try their best to cater to our gluten free requests.
Words cannot describe how amazing this organization is.
We are eternally grateful for all of the amazing people at Backpack Society!!!!
Amazing nonprofit! It helped our family a lot! Helped us with special needs. Very nice people, great help for families
Single struggling mom and grandmother. Reached out for help and have received it, no hassles, no judgment, no making me feel ashamed to ask for help. I have received nothing but kindness, support, and much needed essentials that we could otherwise not afford. I can not express my gratitude towards such an amazing organization filled with wonderful humans.
