We have adopted 3 dogs from here. They do great work in helping all the animals they can with limited resources. They are a nonprofit and make sure the animals have been fully vetted before they are up for adoption. When you go to their home you are greeted by happy dogs with tails wagging! I highly recommend them if you are ready for a fur baby of your own. They do a great deal with what they have to work with.
Angel and her crew work hard to get animals taken care of. She has a good, realistic view of the needs. Unfortunately, there is too much need in the area to be taken care of by volunteer, non-profits. But they try.
This organization is incredible. A tiny group of people do the work of an army in a place where animals are often an afterthought at best. They work to change not only the lives of stray animals, but to change the culture of a community where animal welfare is sorely lacking. I have taken in a few foster cats (one hospice) through Backroads in the past two years, and my experience with them is that they are giving heart and soul in a thankless and sometimes hostile environment. I commend them.
I've worked with Back Roads on many occasions and can say they are excellent. They work very hard in a rural area with few resources. They go above and beyond for the animals in their care and they are a respected rescue in the area. They are all volunteer.
Back Roads Animal Rescue works very hard to help, rescue, and care for the neglected and abandoned animals of Carter County, KY. With no government-funded shelter here, Back Roads does such a crucial work for the community's animals!
The animals that go through them get great care, including all the vetting necessary and fostering when available. While their decision to send most of their animals on to places outside of Kentucky does not sit well with some people, it is objectively the better thing to do for the animals themselves.
Angel fights tirelessly for these animals—often with little thanks and even less rest—and works hard to make sure that Back Roads is as legitimate as possible. And they are! You can be sure that every cent donated to this nonprofit goes back to the rescue efforts!!
The team works so hard and deserves all the help they can get. They are the only hope the local stray and abandoned animals have to a better life.
Backroads does important work in Carter County – especially as this county has no publicly funded animal shelter. From my observation, they take excellent care of the animals they take in and move rescued animals on to reputable organizations in areas with greater demand for pet adoption. When my wife and I fostered a special needs dog, they did a good job of supporting us and were very willing to give us a break when things became stressful.
Carter County is a better and more compassionate place because of the efforts of Backroads.
I can’t say enough about the outstanding, endless work that Back Roads Animal Rescue does to save the overwhelmingly neglected and stray animal population in our community. If it weren’t for the selfless hearts of this network of loving volunteers, this sweet girl wouldn’t have survived. Every time I look into her precious eyes, I’m reminded that there are wonderful people working tirelessly to save more just like her. I’m so thankful for these people and this wonderful organization!
All the people associated with Back Roads work tirelessly to fund raise, care for the animals they rescue, sponsor spay/neuter clinics, and educate the public. their services are so badly needed in out area where no government agency provides any animal catre whatsoever.
I honestly can say that I have never talked to a more caring group of people. They truly believe in what they are doing to save animals that can not help themselves. Tireless hours of work with feedings, rescues, vet checks and following leads. Back Roads Animal Rescue is awesome.
In a county with few resources for animals this organization does amazing work. All animals receive necessary vet work before either being adopted or transferred to trusted rescue partners. The group never takes puppies without the mom, or at least spaying the mom. They are active within the community, including TNR whenever they have the funds, and school educational events. All animals are given a fighting chance as the Rescue works very closely under the asvisement of their veterinarians.
Puppies like these are given the best potential lives when this organization takes them in, vaccinated them, deworms them, provides flea/tick treatment, and matches them to suitable homes or rescues.
Back roads animal helped me find our forever cat. I live in fl. They had a cat surrender named Bella. Her owners were in ky and moving to florida. Back roads hooked us up and i picked bella up in florida. She was driven all the way from ky. We love Bellla . Thanks Back roads animals, grayson ky.
This organization is amazing! They do so much in the community and are so helpful. I was in desperate need of financial help to help save a kitten and they agreed to help no questions asked! They are amazing people doing amazing things. Backroads unfortunately faces so many challenges and could really use the help in for of monetary and supply donations!!
