I have been following this rescue for years. They do the best work with so many animals! The horses are amazing...and so many heartbreaking stories - as the horses are often in very bad shape when they arrive. Their dedication and hard work is amazing.
Brenda and Cecil share about animals who are dumped near their property. They take in dogs, cats, they have a bird - their hearts are bigger than our Universe. I cannot say enough about this nonprofit. They truly walk their talk and help so many. I am honored to even know about this group. If I win the lottery, they will be getting a lot of money! (Not likely - don't buy tickets! :( )

Brenda and Cecil have welcomed many, many horses that have been abused, neglected and abandoned. They provide compassionate, nutritious and medical support to these horses and the horses experience peace and comfort in their retirement. Brenda operates the rescue with volunteers and shares her knowledge and love for the horses, donkeys, dogs, cats and birds with all. I have been involved with the rescue for over 2 years and continue to be impressed by the dedication and compassion of Brenda and Cecil.

B&C Rescue takes the worst of the horses that others have thrown away to kill buyers. It's heart breaking that people don't take care of their animals. When they arrive, they have their teeth checked, feet trimmed, get wormed and all the food they want along with fresh water and lots of love for the rest of their lives. Seeing hope appear and re-appear in those eyes along with their spirit restored with good food and proper care, I hope they might think they've landed in heaven on earth. The transformation is a beautiful thing to see.

I have followed and supported this rescue for many years. I transported a severely emaciated and neglected horse from kill pen quarantine to the rescue and watched as he recovered, blossomed, and thrived as a much loved and cherished member of the B&C "tribe". Every animal in their care is provided the best care and dignity available. Brenda and Cecil and the volunteers are amazing human beings.

Owners Brenda and Cecil take very good care of thier rescued animals. They welcome anyone & everyone to come visit. The yard, barns and round pens are exceptionally clean. My granddaughter loved having her Birthday party thier and getting to ride horses, talk about caring for horses, interact with the animals and feeding them treats.
I've watched some horses/donkeys come into the Rescue in horrible shape. Then with love, dedication and health issues address, they transform into a beautiful, healthy animal.

I have been a volunteer for B&C Equine Rescue for almost 10 years now. Brenda does an incredible job saving & rehabbing every Equine she gets in. Brenda works her tail off for each & every one. These are her children!

Brenda and Cecil have created a rescue for horses that is amazing. They take in horses that others have given up on, rehab them physically and mentally. I have witnessed amazing transformations on the most desperate neglect cases.

This facility helped my husband and I to rescue a horse from a ranch that was being poorly taken care of. Shortly after his rescue, he began gaining weight and showing signs of life again. Although he was unable to continue his years due to health reasons, the time he spent at the facility was was the best. If it wasn’t Brenda and her team, I do t think he would have lasted much longer than he did, nor would he have been able to know love and care again before leaving. Because of them, I will always be forever grateful.

There is nothing Brendered and Cecil and the volunteers will not do to help all her animals. Doesnt matter if its day or night they do what ever it takes. Good news or bad they give updates to the group on how the animals are doing. You can't find a more dedicated rescue. Go visit them and see for yourself.

All donations go strictly for care, veterinary expenses, feed and bedding. All horses receive the best of care and attention. All horses get a second chance with more love than they had probably ever experienced.

B & C go above and beyond. The animals come first no matter what. A lot of what is done is by two people. They come with knowledge and with emphasis on getting what the horse, pony, or donkey’s health and welfare needs are and to keep them well.

I have the utmost respect and admiration for Brenda and Cecil. Any animals that they rescue are given the best care and so much love and attention. I regularly donate to the rescue for unexpected medical expenses and to purchase hay and feed.

This equine rescue saves horses, donkeys and mules from unimaginable circumstances. They come from "kill Lots", seizures and owner surrenders. Many are literally skin and bones when they arrive. They come with no hope in their eyes and souls. It's such a joy to watch them become happy, healthy horses again. Some find their forever home here but many are adopted by caring families. All are able to live the rest of their lives just being a horse surrounded by loving, caring people.

I love how this rescue will always step up when necessary to help abused and or neglected animals. They take the worst of the worst and bring them back to good health. They provide awesome care for the animals, and love for all which is something some have never experienced.

I have been friends with owner of Rescue for several yrs now. They are so dedicated to the saving of Horses and Burros. They meet their every need. Any medical which sometimes have taken alot of money. I have never known of them letting them detour from bringing them home. I have seen medical issues so severe its considered long time care. I have seen horses that are nothing but bones and litterally have fattened up and no one would ever know. The biggest care they give is their Time and LOVE. When appropriate they are adopted out but, some will live forever on property. A Wonderful couple Cecil and Brenda are. Open always for tours. Top knotch, clean and welcoming for all. For this they need Recognized.

I don’t remember how I heard of B&C but since then I’ve learned a lot about them and it’s so evident that Brenda and Cecil truly love all animals and have devoted their lives to caring for them. The animals there are truly loved and although they try to find forever homes when possible, they recognize that some will live out their remaining years with them so they do all they can to make those years wonderful!

This is a very important and well run non-profit organization for our area. The owners put in many hours and always have the best interest of the animals as a very high priority.

I adopted a 6 year old mustang from B & C Rescue. It was a fabulous experience. That horse has carried my daughter for years.
Brenda is honest and so easy to work with. I have consulted with her since then on how to put weight on elderly horses and her advice is always effective. She is a professional and seems to be able to help the sickest horses recover. I recommend her to everyone I know.

The love and caring that is provided for the most needy Horses here is beyond words. Truthfully Brenda and her amazing crew have brought many horse back from near death. If any organization deserves help in anyway it is this rescue, truly an amazing place. B&C Equine rescue is the best. They take in all horses in need. Not just one breed. Sick injured and abused. Emancipated horses are brought back to life. Their knowledge in horse care is exceptional.

This is the most wonderful non profit I have ever dealt with. The owners, Brenda and Cecil Grimmett, take in and bring back to health the worst of the worst. Their facility is beautiful and the animals are loved and well cared for.

Never seen a rescue put so much of their life into saving those horses in need. Like they are their children or ward. Loving and caring and willing to go the extra mile even if they have gone as far as one would think they could go. Just one more try before we give up. Maybe just one more again. Very blessed to have Brenda and her group to aid in this mission of saving, loving a giving new life to the horses who are about to lose the fight of their life. Horse Angels, we Need more like them.

The owners are judge mental towards other horse owners and cruel to them. They are rude and want to report any little thing so they can get more attention to their rescue. They have a holier than though attitude which sucks. I used to be a huge supporter of them until I saw how they treat other horse owners in the community. They are rude and disrespectful individual. There is no reason for them to treat others like trash because they aren’t perfect. I think that if they were a true horse rescue and wanted to help horses then they wouldn’t bad mouth other owners or people in the community they would help them as a community should. It’s better to teach than it is to talk bad behind social media.

I have observed this rescue bring back sick and abused horses from death's door and then find loving homes for them. If the horse is not a candidate for re-homing due to chronic illness, then they keep them happy and comfortable for as long as they live. It is a huge challenge but they always seem to find a way to meet it. I can only hope they find a way to continue as the love they demonstrate for an animal is an example the world should follow towards all fellow mankind.

greetings...I have not had the Honor to Meet Cecil & Brenda yet BUT..we have been facebook pals about 4 yrs now..I have been on "The Farm" in MA 60 yrs. now and I have never seen the kind of Miracles that happen like at B & C Rescue !!! I may get graphic but need to get my point across to help these amazing Angels...they put their whole heart & souls into every Critter that comes to their Rescue.. some almost dead !! infections rotting their hooves & legs !! so thin that their skeletons are exposed !! some with eyes missing or having to be removed !! and yes..some so bad that the animal needed to be put down out of respect !! one rescue that will always stay with me is...a little over 3 yrs. ago, Brenda & Cecil rescued 2 Mares from the Kill Pen not knowing they were both caring Foals. !!! they saved 4 not just 2..Fancy Pants just turned 3 & Liberty will be 3 on SEPT. 11th.......that to me is a Miracle..SO folks ..if you can send them a few bucks new & again...you have no idea how helpful that would be..Than you Happy Trials Nancy

I follow B & C on Face Book and have visited their rescue home. They have taken horses literally at deaths door and have rehabbed them into healthy beautiful equine. There is nothing they wouldn’t do to keep their animals healthy and happy! I refer to them as Angels because they truly love and selflessly care for their “flock” with no glory.

I got to know this wonderful rescue when I helped with the quarantine of one their new rescue horses, Ranger. Brenda diligently kept up with us in regards to his care, and I’ve gotten to see him flourish after he was able to transport to B&C. She also took in a pair of bonded Percherons we had quarantined. She worked with them and helped them find loving new homes. Wonderful rescue!

Brenda took in a horse i was caring for at my rescue, he had a horrific leg injury and B&C equine did an amazing job in helping him to heal.

My daughter and I have had the pleasure of volunteering for B&C Equine Rescue on several occasions over the years and I am impressed with how much love and care they give to each and every animal they come into contact with. Some of these animals were on the brink of death and they loved and nursed them back to health. Not only do they care for all types of animals, big and small, but they offer services to the community via fundraisers and offer a place for people to be able to go and spend some time with animals that they might not have access to otherwise. They try and re-home as many of the animals as they can and do thorough checks to make sure that the new families are capable of taking care of their new loved one.

I have been blown away since the day I met Brenda! Her life revolves around these animals in such an amazing way! I am so blessed that I get to be involved with volunteering and adopting 2 of my own horses from B&C Equine Rescue!

They take in horses that have been abused and starving and give them love food and medical care. I have seen these horses in person and see how they improve over a matter of weeks. Brenda and Cecil give their whole hearts to these animals. These horses couldn’t ask for more.

B & C Equine had the most heartfelt, loving people running it. Even through recent personal hardships, they keep putting their rescue's best interests first. I initially met Brenda and Cecil Grimmett when I hauled a kill pen rescue horse to them from Oklahoma. He was literally near death. I watched him not only live under their care, but thrive. I have visited their program and supported their rescue ever since. Their hearts, souls, blood, sweat, tears and joy is poured into these precious outcasts. Every animal in their care comes to know love again.

I first met brenda when we went out there to volunteer. I fell in love.her horses r all so spoiled and well cared for.brenda is an amazing person. Her heart is full.

We have know Brenda for years, she is a wonderful person. Brenda has always had a love for the horses, and the other animals. I could not do what she does, I would be bawling my eyes out. She has strength to euthanize, when all other avenues have been exhausted. She has pulled in others to help with the chores, events, fundraising. She keeps the public informed on Facebook. She share the goodstuff along with the bad. All in a days work at the Resuce. I love and appreciate what she does for our area!

We became acquainted with Brenda and Cecil's horse rescue through Susan, a close friend of mine and Brenda and Cecil's. My entire family has been charmed by the loving environment of the rescue for all the "critters" they have taken in. I've watched my two granddaughters delight in our visits there and their opportunities to interact with horses and all the animals. I have also seen them develop empathy for all the animals as they hear the stories of their recoveries. Brenda and Cecil work so hard and their successes are heart warming. It is a wonderful place!

Brenda and Cecil are fantastic people! They do great work with the horses and donkeys. They also hooked me up with our wonderful dog Jake. My family attended one of the open houses and my grandkids had a blast riding the horses in the ring. They both are truly the good ones.

These folks help so many horse and are doing an awesome job. Please help this nonprofit organization, the supplies and vets to help these horses are costly. I love seeing the animals and how they are being helped.

Brenda and Cecil take excellent care of their animals. Sometimes giving up something that they want to do because someone needs to go to the vet, or have their teeth floated etc...
At their place "It's all about the horses" and it truly is. I have witnessed this many times over. Brenda and Cecil will help give advice to help a horse owner with their horse. Sometimes we don't know what every little ailment is and they will try to help any horse and owner that needs it. If I were a horse I would want to be lucky enough to go and live at B & C Equine Rescue!

Saw story of kill pens mare and foal....won't describe in detail here...Rescued by B & C Equine, not only very caring but also have much equine health knowledge and experience.....also important.... they know how to run/promote a business. We came out a couple of weeks ago. Brenda and Cecil had just got ted and lynn. they were in bad shape but they are looking so great now. She told us the stories of her horses and some of things they went through and they look so wonderful. Brenda and Cecil are wonderful people and I am so glad these animals have them. I could just be out there all day just petting all the animals -it is so relaxing and fun. Thank you for letting us have the opportunity to come and visit. We will definitely be back.

Over the top care for abused and neglected horses. The excellent care doesn't just stop at horses, they care for and find homes for dogs, cats, birds & donkeys too! Always willing to help an owner keep their pet, never condemning always educating. Always helping those in need.

This rescue is run by 2 people who devote their lives to helping neglected and abused animals. They do amazing work with the limited resources they have.

Brenda and Cecil are an amazing couple who love their horses and love to share them with others. Recently they took in a pair of "gentle giants," a team of Belgians who had been severely neglected. I have visited this pair several times and am so encouraged by the changes in them with proper feed, vet and hoof care, but especially LOVE! Visitors (like me) quickly become friends united by a common love of horses.

Brenda and Cecil are the most caring people, Brenda works so hard to rehabilitate the animals she rescues. She not only rescues and rehabilitates, but teaches and demonstrates to others. She loves animals, and shows it to whom ever is around. You can tell by watching her and Cecil the animals couldn't have a better home or more caring people. She takes some of the animals out to fundraisers, and Birthday Parties, always spreading the word, and sharing with others. I have watched her work on the animals she rescues, she is tireless, and relentless on helping them recover. She gets my vote, and if I were an abused animal, I would sure want her to rescue me!

Brenda and Cecil are not only gems within their own rights as equine rescuers, but also invaluable to the horse community both local and abroad. They are the first to lend a hand to a horseman in need, to educate without condescending, and to taken in the hard cases no one else will. They constantly seek to better themselves for the good of the animals they champion, and share that wealth of knowledge from nutrition to wound care to training. And unlike some rescues who take on more animals than they can manage and who never adopt any out to new homes, the work they do really does mean something.

B&C does an amazing job of helping Equines bounce back from the worst kinds of trauma and abuse. Brenda is an amazing woman with a huge heart, she loves each animal like her own child! She does the research and has amazing support system!

B & C Equine Rescue took care of a rescued mare and foal for us for two weeks. The horses had not been handled before and Brenda ( and some volunteers) took it upon herself to halter break momma and baby before they came home. What a blessing that was. They gladly fed (at our request) the horses special feed as well as supplements. They did a great job of letting us know what was going on with the horses by taking lots of pictures and sending emails via FaceBook. The horses left B & C Equine Rescue in much better shape then they came. After this experience, I trust Brenda and her crew to take care of my horses anytime.

I inadvertently came across B&C Equine Rescue when I bought a mare and foal that were being sold for slaughter. (The auction was in OK and I live in Indiana.) The horses from the sale were taken to B&C for safekeeping until buyers could arrange for pick up. The word safekeeping does not begin to cover the care and attention the horses had. Brenda arranged for them to have the best feed, to have veterinary care, to have equine dentistry, and to have a driver pick them up to take them to Oklahoma for the new owners. Additionally, Brenda arranged for volunteers to come help halter break the 3 pairs and even provided the halters! The tireless efforts and love that this group provided for these unfortunate horses absolutely amazed me. I wish I could shout from the rooftops the admiration I have for B&C Equine Rescue Inc. This group truly represents the epitome of charitable giving.

We became aware of B & C Equine Rescue, Inc. when we saw a post on a bulletin board for compost. We were starting a garden and needed compost, so my husband went over. We had not realized it was a rescue. We live only a few miles away, so when he came home, he said I needed to go over. I love everyone who rescues animals and who cares for any living thing in need. What a loving, happy place we found!! Brenda and Cecil welcomed us and took the time to show us around. At that time, a few years ago, Buddy was suffering from a tendon problem, and Brenda showed me how she gently stretched his tendons to ease his discomfort. THEN she explained that she did that 5 times a day, even setting her alarm in the night. Buddy now is happy and healthy and walks normally. The same devotion is given to all the animals.

I work with Disabled adults in Topeka, Brenda and Cecile are amazing people, they have had my clients out to the farm to learn how to groom horses, it was a wonderful experience for my clients, B and C Equine rescue have also brought the horses to our location for our western day event..

I met Brenda Grimmet after a friend suggest that I call her when I found a severely neglected pony a couple of summers ago. Brenda didn't waste a minute and met me at the farm where the pony was and rescued him at once. He is now living out his days in peace surrounded by love and friends at B&C Equine Rescue. I have since volunteered several times at B&C Ranch and have found the experience beyond fulfilling. Brenda and Cecil love these animals infinitely and devote their lives to them. Brenda has since become a dear friend. Brenda and Cecil are genuine, passionate and dedicated to their animals and are very generous with sharing their ranch with anyone who wants to be a part of it. It is truly a peaceful and idyllic place to connect with animals. I admire Brenda and Cecil immensely and I am proud to call them friends.

B&C Equine Rescue in Carbondale, Kansas is AWESOME! They have benevolently taken on the mission of rescuing and caring for twenty plus horses, four donkeys and one mule currently. They work directly with the Sheriff’s Department to save animals from abuse and neglect and provide permanent residence and rehabilitation to some of the worst neglect cases we have ever seen. They educate and involve the public regarding care and rescue. Their open range style set up is something to behold and emulate. Incredibly nice people and happy horses.

My daughters girl scout troop had a wonderful time learning about caring for horses and the difficult time horses can have in the modern world.

The horse rescue center has become one of my daughter's favorite places to go. Their mission really spoke to a meant a lot to my daughter and the girls in her Girl Scout troop.

We went to the B&C Equine Rescue to look at a paint gelding and unexpectedly came home with two horses! The rescue was well-maintained and I've never seen a happier group of horses! Brenda takes in the neglected horses that no one else would dream of trying to maintain and she gives many horses a chance to live out their lives in happiness when, in many other situations, they would have been put down due to health issues. Every animal on the property was obviously loved and taken care of. This is what a rescue should be!

Caring for the physical wounds and needs of the sick, wounded, neglected, or abused creatures that Brenda takes under her wings, is just a part of the care. Brenda also heals their spirit, and calms their fear. They are nurished physically and emotionaly. They learn very quickly, that a gentle hand on their bodies is a wonderful thing, and they soon become in your pocket, and reach their highest potential. Thank you Brenda for all you do.

I met Brenda and Cecil a few years ago when they were taking in a donkey, "Richie", whose hooves had been badly neglected. I am an equine hoofcare professional and Brenda needed help with Richie. They had had the extraordinary length of his hooves sawed off (about 14"). Now it was time to trim to get his hooves back to where they should be. Richie was not real agreeable with this idea, but the three of us, Brenda, Cecil and I managed to get him trimmed. This was a process that took a number of trims to get to the point of his hooves being normal again. (To see him now, you would never know the mess his hooves were!) I remember the first time there and I said to Brenda, "If you're expecting me to manhandle and get him done real fast, then I'm not the one for you." And her response was something like, "If you did it like that and hurried out of here, then we wouldn't want you here." I knew then that B&C wanted to do things the right way - even though it would take a lot more time, patience and caring. Brenda does a great job trimming all the hooves of the assorted equine family they have at B&C. When she runs into something unusual, or that she's not certain about, she'll give me a call. Well, with rescue horses, that's probably more times then she'd like. After seeing all the follow up care that these rescues get, I can't say enough about the devotion shown by Brenda and Cecil. The dedication and love for the "herd" is quite obvious. Somewhere along the line I decided that B&C Equine Rescue would be a charity client for me - seems it's the least I can do to help out. And B&C's follow up care for hoof rehab has made for some amazing recoveries. You see with hoof rehab, I can trim until I'm blue in the face, but if the owners' don't follow through with the proper diet, exercise, and other therapies, the results will be minimal. B&C treats the whole horse. Always looking for better ways. They have the utmost dedication and determination to help all equine. You can be sure that any donations are used wisely. If B&C were to have any other name, it should be "For the Love of the Horse".

I met Brenda on the internet while trying to find help for a severely foundered pony my sister and friend sent me video of during a dog rescue. She and I then met in person months later as I was relocating my horses nearby. She and her husband volunteered to help me mend some fences as well as transport my personal therapy horses to the location once it was finished being repaired. Since then, B&C Equine has been just a phone call away and have assisted me on dozens of occasions, including encouraging and guiding me as I began rescuing and rehoming horses privately. They have selflessly donated hours of their time and labor and we have become great friends. I see the good they do and their dedication to saving and rehabilitating equine in need or at risk of abuse, neglect, or slaughter. Brenda is my mentor and I admire the hard work she puts into her rescue and the education she continues to share with people like myself, as well as the general public and children alike. Her rescue is definitely inspired by her love for horses and donkeys and she remains successful because of her huge heart and strong professionalism. I will look up to her always.

I currently work with many rescue and animal non-profits across the country, I am very impressed with this organization. Brenda is an amazing rescuer and friend, taking such good care of these unfortunate horses that so many just cast aside. I will continue to support this outstanding rescue group and will highly recommend B & C Equine Rescue to all my business associates and friends as an organization that very much deserves their support.
