The ceo refused to pay for one of my puppies that enter his program. Then from a CBS News report I found out that he would Then foster out the puppies requiring a deposit if you wanted to foster a puppy. Only to steal the deposit and then proceeded to sale the untrained dogs to the Military Health for $100,000 according to their public meetings. This man and this foundation is a scam.

This is a fantastic organization, I see their Founder all the time in my neighborhood in San Francisco. He always has a Labrador puppy with him and seeing these puppies always brings a smile to my face. When I learned about the organization, I was pretty impressed to see that they take a different approach to training. I am no expert, but these puppies as young at 12 weeks are so well behaved, they are shrouded in compliments and praise while on walks and at restaurants. I was glad to donate and support Beyond A Buddy and their work. To me this kind of thing is super cool and I look forward to seeing the next puppy on Chestnut!!!

I served on the Board of the Beyond A Buddy Foundation for a year and a half, I joined when the organization was just getting it's sea legs and it was definitely interesting to participate in the start-phase. It wasn't at all easy to get it off the ground but through the determination of it's Founder and other Board Members we made it happen. There were of course mistakes that were made along the way, but from those mistakes we learned and improved. Some of my fondest memories were of course working with the puppies, these tiny little fur balls were rambunctious and the ones I looked after from time to time would wake me up at 3am with their whining. But you could see there was potential to be realized in each and every one of them. While I do not see myself signing up to raise any more puppies in the future (they are a lot of work and I am getting older, pushing 68) the chance to do it was rewarding especially when I saw Violet (the first puppy, I took care of for a month) graduate and get placed in her permanent home.

I volunteered as a Puppy Parent with Beyond A Buddy from April 2020 to January 2021, through the hardest points during the COVID pandemic. They gave me a six week old yellow Labrador puppy to take care of and train. For the first three weeks it was rough going but their training and CEO were always available to help with questions or concerns. They were very accommodating in May 2020 when I had to fly home for a family emergency and set me up with another volunteer to care for the puppy while I was out of town. The weekend training sessions were informative and the homework was easy to understand. While it was sad to return this dog that I had spent so much time with, I was glad for the opportunity. Though Liam, did not make the cut for graduation due to his hyperactivity, I was happy to see that he was adopted by a loving family and is living his best life now. It was a fun experience and if I hadn't moved back to NYC, I would totally do it again.

Brigid was placed with us in February of 2020, she came to us well trained and ready to help me with my panic attacks and to help me get up if I fall. So far, she has been my newest best friend and helped me as I get older. I am 71 and a Vietnam Veteran, we found this organization through a random google search and I was impressed with how quickly they delivered. There was a cost associated with getting Brigid, but it was money well spent. Their Founder, flew out to Colorado and spent a few days training me, so I would be able to utilize all of Brigid's skills to my benefit.
