Mission: APU is an evangelical Christian community of disciples and scholars who seek to advance the work of God in the world through academic excellence in liberal arts and professional programs of higher education that encourage students to develop a Christian perspective of truth and life.
Programs: Founded in 1899 as the Training School for Christian Workers, Azusa Pacific University has grown from a school that met in a home to an accredited Christian university of nearly 10,000 students (5,100 undergraduate, 4,800 graduate and professional). APU’s main campus is located in Azusa, approximately 25 miles east of Los Angeles, California. In addition to the main Azusa campus, APU has an online division and 6 regional centers (High Desert, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Murrieta, Orange County, and San Diego) throughout Southern California. Classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral Research University, APU offers 80 bachelor’s degrees, 51 master’s degrees, 25 certificates, 12 credentials, 8 doctoral programs, and 2 associate‘s degrees under 6 schools: School of Nursing, School of Behavioral Studies and Applied Sciences, School of Music, School of Business and Management, School of Education, and School of Theology. While a Christian university, APU is committed to inclusion and diversity, admitting students from all faith backgrounds. APU is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
