Mission: To empower less-privileged nigerian children to maximize their potential and, in turn, give back to their communities. We do this by providing financial support, leadership development opportunities, and career guidance to these children.
Programs: We sponsored the tuition for three high-school scholars. For two scholars, we sponsored tuition for three terms (semesters). For the third scholar, we covered tuition for for two terms (semesters) as this scholar graduated in the summer. Our objective is for our scholars to have a high quality education, graduate with a strong sense of purpose and be equipped with the tools to accomplish their goals. We aspire to instill in our scholars, a strong desire to contribute to their societies and to help the children who come after them. Our activities include the following: - provide scholarships for less privileged students with strong potential. - provide counseling and mentoring services to guide students' decision-making. - partner with educational institutions and other philanthropic organizations with similar objectives. - garner support from individuals and corporate organizations by publicizing and organizing fund-raising events. - educate interested individuals on how they can contribute to improving access to education in nigeria.
wave academy (http://waveacademies. Org/) is a training and placement program for talented west african youths in the hospitality sector. In 2014, wave trained 104 youths in a total of six training cycles. We cover tuition costs for their training as well as other operational costs. Wave's objective is to 'up-skill' millions of youth to fill stable jobs that transform their incomes thereby driving scalable, replicable and sustainable impact and converting africa's youth from demographic liabilities to "demographic dividends". By 2019, wave aims to train 25,000 youth annually, having cumulatively trained 50,000 youth in marketable skills to reach their true potential and supported them in stable jobs. On average, wave alumni will experience an income transformation of 3-4 times their baseline income (from $2/day to $6-8/day) through placements in frontline hospitality and retail jobs. Ultimately, our simple training and job placement model has the potential to restore dignity and enhance livelihoods for millions of west african youth, thereby restoring the social fabric of the region.
