Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal-Related, Animals

Mission: AZ Center for Animal Rescue and Education (AZ CARE) is a non-profit all breed dog and cat rescue in Arizona. We are dedicated to reducing the euthanasia rate in our state through education, spay/neuter programs and adoption events. Our network of foster homes provide a safe haven for dogs/cats while they wait for their forever homes. Our education programs will include youth programs to get the next generation involved in the pet overpopulation epidemic and strive to find a way to end the suffering in our shelters, state and nation wide.

I have adopted from AZ CARE twice. They always have a number of kittens available, and the fosters are so knowledgeable about their fosters, and make the process as easy as possible. I know, via the request form that I submitted, what place I am in line for that pet, and they communicate with me on my status. It is always a little sad when a pet that I wanted gets adopted by another family, but in the end, the purpose is to find great homes for everyone, right? I know the fosters care so much about their pets, you can tell when you talk to them about the one you are interested in.

I have adopted three kitties from AZCare over the course of several years. They are knowledgeable about their animals and are transparent with their history and personality type. The process is smooth and they respond quickly to messages. I was impressed with the organization and decided to become more involved as a foster and eventually a board member. This is truly a caring group of people who promote animal welfare, and I am proud to be a part of this community.

I have attempted to adopt pets from this organization and have had nothing but bad results! I honestly feel these people play on people's emotions and drive up artificial demand for an animal. Then, you will jump through hoops to try go get the animal and they send you videos of the animal to foster that demand. Once you go to adopt the animal, they send you an email saying the animal is unavailable. Tell people from the beginning the animal is available! They also will say an animal is "COMING SOON". Coming soon? What does that mean? In reality they don't even have the animal and are just trying to gather YOUR information for them to request future donations. From my experience of having multiple pets and working with several pet adoption agencies over the 25 years I have lived in Arizona, this is a non-profit that everyone should stay away from! I would reliably call this non-profit and emotional scam at best!!

Hi there. We are sorry you had a negative experience with adopting from us. We appreciate your feedback. All animals that are listed as "Coming soon" on our website are currently in the rescue. When we say they are "Coming soon" it means they are not old enough or at weight to be fixed, or are not healthy enough to be adopted at this time. Once an animal comes available, the meet and greet request form is opened up for people to submit for that pet. As explained on our website, the requests are still first come, first chance to adopt. In your statement "In reality they don't even have the animal and are just trying to gather YOUR information for them to request future donations." We do not solicit donations from any person who has adopted from the rescue, nor do we send out email campaigns outside of the newsletter which is a separate signup that is only used for the newsletter. All donation campaigns are managed through our website or our Facebook page.

I adopted cats and dogs from AZ CARE and have loved my experience! I could see how loved they were by their foster parents and they are the sweetest babies from it! The rescue has continued to be there and for us and welcomed us into the rescue family. My husband and I fostered after our adoption experience and now serve on the board.

On a whim one day I decided I wanted to add another cat to our family and it was perfect timing because I had just saw a Facebook post that AZ Care was having an adoption event. My daughter and I fell in love with one little guy there named Joey! We both decided he would be the perfect addition. It was a little bittersweet as the lady who had fostered him absolutely adored him and she was sad to see him go but happy he was getting his forever home. It was such an easy process and you could tell they really cared about the welfare of the pets. Joey, now known as Dash, has become my daughters best buddy and is also attached to our other kitty. He even loves helping with homework! If it wasn’t for AZ Care we would not have had the privilege to have this handsome guy as part of our family. Thank you for all you do!!

We adopted our dog from AZ Care and can't thank them enough! He is very well behaved and trained; all of which came from their guidance prior to adoption. Would definitely recommend the organization.

I foster and adopted from AZ CARE and I have been super happy with the way they care for the animals. The rescue is 100% foster based and that ensures that all the animals are super well socialized and friendly.

Attached is a picture of our dog that we adopted from the rescue.

I spent a year of my life volunteering with this organization. I fostered, volunteered, donated and advocated alongside them...and it will, at the end of my life, be an experience that is one of the most amazing. AZ CARE is a volunteer-driven and donation-fueled non-profit that continues to put the need of the animals in their care first and foremost. They are focused and determined to make a difference in the lives of the animals they assist...and make a difference in the lives of the people that adopt, volunteer and foster for them.

These folks are the most selfless, loving, compassionate, dedicated, and determined group of animal lovers. They go way out of their way to help any animal in need, or person in need of their help. I am proud to be a foster fail momma, for these folks. I have my beautiful Ruger because of them! They need help to keep up the success of saving lives. Please donate, adopt, or foster!!! It feels good to help when you can!
