Mission: The avery-copp museum celebrates, preserves, and documents the historic home, its collection, and the grounds belonging to the avery and copp families in groton, connecticut. Our purpose is to engage the public in learning about history of groton through the study of domestic life as it was experienced in this house and the surrounding community.
Programs: Two narrated water taxi tours - in 2017 we educated approximately 100 people on the history of the thames river which was a cooperative effort with the thames river heritage park of which we are a founding member. Approximately 200 inner-city children visited our museum as part of their school program history education program learning the history of groton bank.
