My husband and I have had the privilege of offering water on behalf of the church we work with at this event every year. It is very well organized and the families seem to have a really good time. It's great to see the community participation and smiles on the faces as families walk and interact with the different stations throughout.
The 2 years that I have helped with the walk it has grown..It was always good to see a lot of people coming and supporting Special Needs! There isn't very many events that support them... There is always vendors at the walk as well to let the kids enjoy it and have some fun. Can't wait to see it keep growing.
Several years ago, I met a great group of friends at an Autism Walk in the community. The first walk had less than 20 people attend. The walk aimed to raise awareness and help families meet each other. I have attended each walk so far watching the attendance grow each year. I just love all the volunteers and families I have met over the years. I have attended a few other smaller events also. Always meeting new people.
