Mission: AFYI is dedicated to the safety, employment and independent living of those on the Autism Spectrum. We accomplish this through the free safety program IRIS (Immediate Recognition Increases Safety), training of first responders and community businesses, employing those on the spectrum, and promoting community inclusiveness.
Target demographics: Protect those on the Autism Spectrum and other neurological disorders, provide employment for those with Autism, and support independent living.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Trained Over 3282 Law Enforcement & Fire/EMS personnel, 6500 First Responders were made aware thru exhibiting or presentations, promoted community Inclusion by Training 50 community staff members
Geographic areas served: National safety program, offices in Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Florida, Arkansas, Louisiana,Ohio
Programs: IRIS (Immediate Recognition Increases Safety) a free membership program with hotline access to emergency information and utilizing alert logos for visual recognition that special considerations are necessary. Training for first responders and community businesses helps create a more inclusive and safe community. Employment of those with Autism to help manage the IRIS program, train, and create products for fundraising.
