Mission: The austin area commission for the arts (aaca) envisions a vibrant and successful community enriched by diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities. We strive to identify, engage, and support the development and advancement of diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities that benefit people in austin and the surrounding area.
Programs: Paramount theatre - maintain the historic aspects of the paramount theatre, offer low cost rental venue to the areas arts community and promote the performing arts in southern minnesota. 26 performances occurred at the theatre with 4,905 attending; and 12 performances by a children's theatrical group with an overall attendance of 4,649; 6 free events with 654 tickets issued, and 358 people participated in 9 paramount tours.
artworks center - provide a venue for artists to display and sell their art. Provide art classes to the community, especially children. Approximately 125 artists on display, 8 gallery openings with 521 attendees, 42 adult art classes with 523 attendees and 43 children's art classes with 469 attendees in 2017. Also provided 9 musical events with 451 attendees.
artworks festival - provide a festival featuring regionally and nationally known visual, performing and literary artists, instructional displays, and activities specifically designed for children participation. 17 musical/ performer groups, 54 displaying and selling artists, 9 authors giving presentations and 2 art classes were featured in 2017. 70+ volunteers provided 1,574 labor and planning hours for the event. Attendance is estimated at 6,000+ people over 2 days.
