Mission: The augustine institute serves the formation of catholics for the new evangelization. Through our academic and parish programs, we equip catholics intellectually, spiritually, and pastorally to renew the church and transform the world for christ.
Programs: Diocesan/parish programming - the augustine institute produces video based youth ministry and adult formation content to be used in parishes and dioceses. Currently, the two primary programming areas are symbolon and ydisciple. Symbolon is a bold vision for helping parishes with every aspect of parish faith formation. Symbolon is designed to bring the "new ardor, expression, and methods" of the new evangelization to every parish. The goal of symbolon is to re-evangelize the faithful -- to form life-long disciples from the heart of the church. Symbolon invites participants not just to know the faith but surrender their daily lives to jesus christ. Ydisciple is a process for youth ministry that empowers parishes to bring the vision of the new evangelization to life through a comprehensive approach to youth ministry that includes adult leader training, curriculum resources, ongoing support, and parent resources. This integrated approach to discipleship formation is modeled after the us bishops' model for seminarian formation.
the augustine institute graduate school of theology is a community of scholars and students united in the common mission to advance the new evangelization through the exercise of the gift of theology. Accordingly, the institute identifies with and fully embraces the church's vision for an academic community as set forth in ex corde ecclesiae and exercises activities in full communion with the church and for the sake of building up and extending this communion. Inspired by st. Augustine's approach to evangelization, the institute privileges narratio, the telling of the story of god's mercy to his people, from the creation through our redemption in christ and in the continuing unfolding of his mercy by his providential governance of the church. Built on the foundation of the study of sacred scripture and the history of the church, the institute's theological instruction offers a systematic presentation of the faith and, uniquely, three capstone courses in the theology of the new evangelization.
