I knew about Audrey’s Angels 3-4 years before I got involved. I’m so glad I decided to get involved. The work the music and craft angels do in the small senior group homes is amazing. I have seen and heard from the care givers firsthand of the impact our “angels” make. I have heard from relatives that their loved ones love it when our angels drop in to do craft work. I have heard from the home owners that they always hope people that inspect their homes come while one of Audrey’s angels are there. (I asked why….and they replied, “That is when all of our residents are up and active!”) Most importantly I have witnessed the senior residents coming alive, tapping their feet, and singing along. I am honored to be serving on the Audrey’s Angels board with many other great board members who support our mission of enriching the lives of our elderly through music.

Mission: Interaction with our music angels helps to alleviate the loneliness and isolation felt by most of the elderly we serve. Music sessions offer a form of sensory stimulation which provides positive responses due to the familiarity, predictability, and feelings of security associated with the music. The program helps to maintain and improve senior cognitive abilities, including language skills, and group activities encourage socialization. Even for those with severe dementia, music can tap deep emotional recall. Care home owners report that 85% of their residents do not receive regular weekly visitors, so for most of the seniors we serve, audrey's angels is their only connection to the outside world.

Geographic areas served: Greater Phoenix area
Programs: In 2017, audrey's angels provided a total of 5,938 hours of interactive music and art entertainment (an increase of 9% over 2016), of which 698 hours (12%) were provided completely free of charge. By december, 2017, audrey's angels was sending 58 performers and artists each month to 154 elderly care facilities throughout the greater phoenix, arizona area.
