AAARF is where we adopted our two kitties Abbey and Bill. We got to see mama and siblings. All of the other siblings were spoken for otherwise I would have taken them as well. The staff at AAAFF was very friendly, you could tell that they really cared for the animals in this non kill shelter and were happy when they found homes. All the animals were clean, healthy, and happy. I tell everyone I know to go to AAARF to adopt. You should too!

I was fortunate to discover AAARF though a former co-worker and I was impressed with the care that they gave the animals there. So much so that I adopted two kittens from them, one male and one female. The were both fixed and had their shots. They were in excellent health and happy kitties. They are three years old now and I recommend AAARF to everyone I know. We need more No Kill Shelters that actually care for their animals that are waiting for adoption. Thank you AAARF for my sweet kitties and your excellent care of animals in waiting!
AAARF has been the biggest influence on my life since my parents. Their love, hardwork, self-sacrifice all on behalf of the animals has caused me to try and be a better person in everything I do. The people who volunteer here, whether on the board or on the cleaning crew, care so deeply about each and every animal here.
Not only does AAARF take amazing care of the animals at the adoption center (all the animals are checked weekly by a Vet Tech who serves as a board member) but they know each animal. They know their quirks, their likes and dislikes. These people love and admire every single animal here for who they are and want nothing more than the find that same feeling from those adopting.
Even outside of AAARF's animal, these people reach out into the community and act as a reference, guide, someone you can ask when you have a question. Someone who will listen. Even when AAARF cannot help an animal, they will network with you, give you references, help you find what you need. The goal of this organization isn't to help their animals; it's to help all animals. And it really shows.
All of these things I was amazed to learn before I started volunteering here. I was so blown away that I actually said the words: "I just HAVE to be a part of this!" That was seven years ago. Nowadays I am working as the shelter manager, a position which is grant funded and will end in June, when I'll go back to being a volunteer. Considering this organization has been running on volunteer power for now 14 years, (the longest running independent non-profit animal rescue in the area!), I'd say, they're doing something right.
I found AAARF on accident and was pleasantly surprised to see how friendly, clean, and professional they were. The cats were the happiest, best looking, and nicest cats I'd ever seen. I found true love in a quiet female cat with a rich coat of tabby fur. She is the love of my life, and the picture of health. I am so lucky I found her and she is truly one of a kind.
I am now a volunteer with AAARF and I am so excited about the work we are doing! The cats are all well cared for and I am proud to be a part of a team that does such a great cause for these animals. It has made a huge impact on my life being a volunteer there. I love all the cats and kittens I get to work with and I know that thanks to everyone there these animals will all find their forever homes.
I have been a volunteer with AAARF for just over a year now and am loving it. I am a foster mom, fundraiser, adoption counselor, and all around "get-r-done" kinda gal. The most satisfying part of the whole experience is when one of our animals gets to go to it's forever home. I love working with all the animals and the people too.
When we formed AAARF in April 1997, we set high standards for ourselves and we remain committed to those standards today. Our goal is and has always been QUALITY over quantity and we make a lifetime commitment to every animal who comes into our care. We microchip our animals so they won't become a shelter statistic in the future should they turn up in a shelter. We offer a 100% return policy and have taken animals back after as many as TEN years. We have established a reputation for being thorough in our care of animals and in our screening of potential adopters. In our view, the animals that come to us have been homeless once and it is our goal that they will never be that way again.
I started with AAARF as a volunteer. I am very pleased to now be a member of the board for AAARF. I have always been impressed with the amount of love and care animals at AAARF recieves. It is a win win situation for both adopters and adoptees. AAARF spends the extra time it takes to know the animal and the potential adopter. AAARF also gives a 100% return policy should the animal not be wanted or the adopter becomes unable to care for the animal. AAARF is in its 14th year and has completed over 7,300 adoptions in the Placer County California area. I am proud to be a part of AAARF.
