in 1980 the atrisco land rights council assisted the Atrisco Land Grant heirs protect their property rights of the Petroglyph National Park. The property was taken by the Government and Jaime Chavez was appointment to Represent the Atrisco Heirs. The westland dev corp. did little to stop the sale. The Atrisco Land Rights council has helped the community for many years. After the Sale of our land base to Suncal the non profit was needed to help protect and promote the Heirs rights.
