I have been a foster for a year bringing approx 14 cats into my home. My experience with this organization has been nothing but positive. They are a well oiled machine when it comes to the fostering program. It has been such a rewarding experience for me and a big part of that are the foster managers who support me through my experience. In addition, AHS offers free training on a variety of topics throughout the year which is a huge value add.

I started fostering with Atlanta Humane Society and learned so much about dogs. Everything I've learned from dogs has helped me with my own pets. They are socializing and playing with toys now. :)
I have also signed up to walk dogs in both locations and it's been an amazing experience! ❤️ Walking the dogs helps me to feel purpose and get up on days I feel depressed. It's my energy and always brings me a smile when I play with them and teach them tricks.

I have been volunteering with the Atlanta Humane Society Mansell Campus for about 18 months. I absolutely love it. First of all, the facility is amazing and when people walk through the doors for the first time they are so impressed. Second, volunteering there is easy. You can choose dogs or cats or both to be trained on; you can set your own schedule (they ask for at least 6 hours a month), and you can set your comfort level of what you feel best suits you. In addition to working directly with animals there are many administration volunteers jobs (answering phones, stocking the store, etc). Every time I am there I get lost in the purring of the cats and I know I am making their life better until they find a forever home.
All of the animals I have ever adopted have come from the Atlanta Humane Society. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They have wonderful, well cared for animals and a kind and helpful group of staff and volunteers. AHS has always provided me with a smooth and easy adoption experience. I would recommend AHS to anyone wanting to adopt a wonderful friend. The staff is super knowledgeable and will help you make sure you understand the commitment you are making. If you want a pet this is where to go. If you are looking for a worthy cause to donate to, this is it!

We knew we wanted to adopt a puppy and felt the Atlanta Humane Society would be a great place to start. We've never been so right. The friendly staff at the AHS were amazing. They helped answered all our questions and made sure we were prepared to bring our new addition into our home. This was easily the best shelter I have ever been to. We didn't plan on leaving with a new puppy on our first visit, but ended up falling in love with a puppy we saw! The AHS is the best place to look for a new forever friend. Staff and facilities are top notch.
My wife and I knew we were going to adopt a puppy, but wanted to wait a few more months. We decided to start looking around to see what steps were involved in adoption, and what kind of facilities offer puppies. We took a trip to AHS and were completely blown away. This was by far the best kept, and cleanest shelter I have ever been to. The numerous volunteers were so cheerful and willing to help it was unbelievable. The place was so clean! Even when a dog or puppy had an accident in their cage there was someone to clean it almost instantly. It was such a great feeling to know that the animals were taken care of! We intended to walk out empty handed, but instead left with a new family member, a 3 month old lab mix. If it weren't for the clean facilities, incredible staff, and overall fantastic experience, we would have never taken home our puppy! Thank you AHS
My husband and I visited the Atlanta Humane Society to adopt a cat, and we were very impressed. The adoption counselors were friendly and knowledgeable, and they helped us pick the perfect cat for our family. We were so happy with the experience that we recommended AHS to my father-in-law. He was matched with the perfect dog, who was just coming off heartworm treatment (AHS saved his life!). Our "society pets" have brought so much joy into our lives, and we are thankful everyday for the work that AHS does to save these animals!
