Mission: To make downtown atlanta safer, cleaner, and more hospitable.
Programs: Capital projects - the organization has developed various programs designed to improve streets and sidewalks of downtown atlanta. A listing of these programs is as follows: pedestrian corridor improvements, simpson-west peachtree street corridor improvements, fairlie poplar streetscape, broad street plaza expenses, folk art park, atlanta street car, downtown signalization project, bridgescape initiative project, peachtree center avenue cycle track, transportation demand management, operation best foot forward, and initiatives that include peachtree street planters, jsa construction, auburn history & culture, portman streetscape design, and historic resources survey.
the ambassador force - program focused on making downtown atlanta easier and safer to navigate, providing directions and being a physical uniformed presence throughout the area.
clean team - maintains the physical cleanliness of the downtown area.
marketing - program established to do periodic annual surveys of the public and property owners to evaluate adid's efforts and guide work program development. Also includes special events, website development and consumer-oriented marketing materials. Park operations - program established to take over management of woodruff park. Police officers - program established through the use of off-duty police officers, in conjunction with the ambassador force, to deter crime in the downtown atlanta area. Transportation management - program established to improve alternative transportation. Streets alive - closing the atlanta steets to cars and opening them to the public to create a whole new healthy, sustainable, and vibrant city street experience.
