Programs: Atlanta streets alive atlanta streets alive takes a valuable public space our citys streets and opens them up for people to play, walk, bike, breathe, and make their own. Modeled on tremendously successful events from around the world, including bogot, colombias ciclovia; paris, frances paris plage; and san franciscos sundays streets. In 2016 asa held 4 record setting events, connecting 16 neighborhoods and bringing 370k of our citizens together.
during 2016 in partnership with 22 different events around atlanta we were able to provide bike valet services so that people could feel safer bringing their bike to a variety of events around the area. We were able to park 6,000 bikes which dramatically reduces the the strain that each of these events have on accommodating car parking for their events.
the educational outreach in 2016 was exceptional. Our main inititives for the year consisted of the earn a bike program which gave low income citizens the opportunity to obtain their own bicycle. We also held skill based classes at no cost to participants. The skills taught at these classes included everything from basics of bicycle riding up to more advanced safe street riding skills.
