The Athens Drive Arts Foundation is a quality organization that does significant work to support the arts at Athens Drive High School. With the school district not paying for instruments, uniforms, travel, or even more than one teacher for 180 students, the arts foundation is crucial for the development of a high quality music program at Athens. My 3 children have benefitted immensely from the band program and have grown tremendously in their musical education and leadership skills.
I call myself the client served when really it is my child who is the client served but wht better way for me to be served but to have my child nurtured into a life of superior instruction, nurturance and teamwork. This band not only performs welkl together they have introduced my child to a young adluthood of responsibility, consideration, inspiration and commitment that will serve her all of her life. Not only have the experience band members encouraged my child but they have made an environment that intrigues me as a parent to HAVE to get involved and continue the tradition of strong character and community of giving back that keeps the world. Having more money to help support the hard work that is contributed by the members after their own long hard day would be the best way to support the foundation that keeps this heatbeat alive.
School budgets make it difficult or nearly impossible to keep arts programs, but the Athens Drive Arts Foundation ensures that the students at Athens Drive High School do not miss out on these opportunities. Dr. Markoch's enthusiasm is infectious, and the natural leadership development provides much more than music lessons. My child has gained many life skills, and the high achievements of his peers motivates him to push himself to greater heights. This program would not be possible without the help of the Athens Drive Arts Foundation.
Since it's very beginning, the Athens Drive Arts Foundation has been instrumental in assisting students of the arts to have a more complete and meaningful educational experience. Well deserving students have benefited from instruction and supplies that they would not have had access to without the support of ADAF. ADAF makes a significant contribution to the enrichment of the lives of all the students and families who receive their assistance. My children have experienced first hand how important ADAF is to their arts education - they have been able to learn from excellent instructors, have access to music and instruments, and compete and travel on a national level - none of which would have been possible without the support of ADAF.
The Athens Drive Arts Foundation has been instrumental in helping the Athens Drive High School Band Program acquire the necessary funds to make numerous dreams and aspirations of many young musicians become a reality. Through grants received from ADAF these musicians have traveled to Indianapolis twice in two years to perform among the best of the best! These trips were truly one-of-a-kind experiences which seldom occur in most peoples lifetime.
The Athens Drive Arts Foundation helps support the Arts at our high school, and especially the Band program. The Band program at Athens, directed by Dr. Jerry Markoch, is a fabulous program. The students who participate in the Band program are not just taught music, they learn life skills which will help them succeed in life. They learn to be part of a community, they learn to be leaders, and they are inspired to always do and be their best. All of the students benefit from this positive atmosphere, and they realize that together they are able to achieve something beautiful, which they could never have been able to do alone.
I am a member of the Athens Drive Band Boosters Board of Directors and have first-hand knowledge of the impact that Athens Drive Arts Foundation has had on our program and the 144 students we served this year. In particular, we have several students this year who were not able to afford to be in the band and did not have an instrument to play. Because of the donations made to the Band Boosters by the Arts Foundation, five students have been given the opportunity to be a part of a program that has changed their futures and renewed their confidence. Success in the band has given these students a sense of accomplishment and renewed self-esteem. Our program and the valuable participation by the Arts Foundation have made a dramatic impact in the futures of these individuals.
Very high quality musical education program. Runs with very little support from the public school system but is successful due to the participation of highly motivated students and their families. An inspiration to all as to what can be accomplished at the high school musical performance level. The program's core revolves not only around musical excellence but also teaches the values of self discipline, respect, and responsibility.
Having had two sons that participated in band at Athens Drive High School and also being a parent volunteer, I saw firsthand the immensely positive impact of the Athens Drive Arts Foundation in supporting students participating in the band program. Examples of the foundation financial support are many such as the purchase of music and instruments, bringing in clinicians who were experts in the various instruments for additional instruction, and funds for travel allowing the students to represent their school in performances both in and outside the state. The commitment of the foundation in providing funding for valuable educational opportunities and the continued growth of the band program contributed toward an extraordinary high school experience. The band program at Athens Drive HS is recognized for excellence and for the engagement and excitement of the students in participating in the various ensembles. I am tremendously thankful for the involvement of each of my sons for their entire four years of high school in the exemplary band program at Athens Drive HS.
The Athens Drive Arts Foundation is an outstanding organization that is the driving force behind a phenomenal youth music program. Without the support of the Foundation, grants for students for instruction, music, equipment and travel would simply not be possible. The Foundation allows students who would otherwise not be able to afford to participate in the opportunity to excel.
The Athens Drive Band is not just a group of 135 enthusiastic, talented students performing at football games, community events, and competitions. Rather, it functions as an extended family for students and their families. My son wakes up every day enthusiastic about school because his experience as a band member has been so positive--on so many levels.
My son is a type one diabetic, and his health requires careful monitoring. Under the watchful eye of Band Director Jerry Markoch and the parents who volunteer to chaperone the many practices, community events, and competitions, we are completely confident that he is in good hands at all times.
My son has flourished musically, and we have seen him grow as a person as a result of joining this wonderful music program. Every interested student should have the opportunity to enjoy the incredible musical training as well as the team spirit and camaraderie that defines the Athens Drive High School Band.
I was in the Athens Drive Band Program during high school and helped me get into a good college with the experiences
This Foundation has defiantly helped define my high school career, Through the efforts of this foundation our band was able to do everything from marching down main street at Walt Disney world to going to weekly competitions all around the Carolinas. All of the wonderful things that we did, experiences i had and friendships i forged would definitively not be as strong as they were today if it had not been for this organization.
As a parent of students at Athens Drive High School, I would like to voice my appreciation of the Athens Drive Arts Foundation. They have given support to our band program through monetary means and voluntary man hours. This has allowed our band program to grow in many ways including featuring specialized instructors, providing scholarships for students in need and acquiring new instruments which benefits the whole program. The board members of the Athens Drive Arts Foundation are good a listening to and responding to the needs of our high school band program. Interactions with parents and students are kept positive and goal oriented without wasted overhead costs in time or money. I have been happy to work along side members of the Athens Drive Arts Foundation at a variety of fund raising events and will gladly do so again in the future.
The Athens Drive Arts Foundation has allowed both of my children to participate in an incredible program that has been the highlight of their high school careers. The Arts Foundation provides support to all the band programs which have provides great friends, great programs, great opportunities and the activities that have become their high school memories. Between two children, they have been involved in 20 different band programs at Athens High School. The Arts Foundation supports each one of these programs and affords our children once in a life time opportunities. My son's favorite opportunity was the trip to Indianapolis when Athens participated in the Bands of Americas National concert. My daughter's favorite memory is her friends. All of her high school best friends and the friends she has kept in touch with since going to college are 100% from the band program. It attracts great kids, and gives them a productive high school program that challenges them and allows them to become better people. ADAF supports all of these programs and takes them to the next level of opportunities and resources that in turn positively impacts every child involved!
The Athens Drive Arts Foundation has been a critical source of support for all the arts programs at Athens Drive High School. The tireless efforts of these volunteers have provided many new instruments to children and families who could not otherwise participate in learning music. They also provide scholarships to the marching band so that the director can include students whose families could not afford to have their children participate. I have volunteered in many capacities for ADAF from sitting on the board of directors for two years to grilling chicken for the annual Mother's Day picnic. In a variety of ways, ADAF has worked with the community and businesses in the vicinity of the school to raise money to support the woefully underfunded performing arts at the high school. What they need are more volunteers and sponsors.
Athens Drive Arts Foundation (ADAF) has been a tremendous asset to the music program at Athens Drive High School. ADAF has supported and enhanced the band program by providing more instructors and instruments and distributing scholarships to needy students. The fundraisers have given parents and alumni a chance to reconnect with current members and contribute toward the ongoing success.
It was our pleasure as a family to be involved with the band at ADHS for seven years. My children were given leadership opportunities that played a key role in their character development during high school. The great thing about the band program is that the students aren't just taught to be excellent musicians; they are also shown how to be people of character and compassion.
I was involved with the Athens Drive Arts Foundation as a board member for 4 years. Over this time, we held several fundraisers to benefit the Musical Arts at Athens Drive HS, and saw firsthand the results of our work!
The professional extra instruction, scholarship money, equipment, instruments, and more boosted the abilities of the ADHS band program
to be the outstanding program it is.
With 2 children involved in playing instruments for over 6 years; I was able to see them enjoy the benefits of being involved in such an outstanding program! I can truly say it was the best choice for them throughout their high school experience.
This is the best organization I know of. If it wasn't for this organization I am not sure where my son would have ended up. Meaning what group he would have hung out with. The good, bad or the ugly I so to speak. b
This organization is the best of the best. The kids really care for each other and look out for each other. The instructor really promotes the kids. It's all about the kids not the instructor. This program needs to strive as long as possible and needs as much help financially as possible. The parents provide and give as much as they can and any donations are greatly appreciated. The students in this program are so advanced and are playing with the best of the best. All American Marching Band and the NC Symphony to name a couple. Fantastic program
This is really a great organization! The care and love the parents in the organization, the staff of the band program give to these kids when the school funds absolutely no part of this extracurricular activity is something to experience first hand. And with the Athens Drive Arts Foundation grants, the program ensures kids in financial need have a way to participate and stay involved.
The Athens Drive High School Music Program is simply the most impressive organization that I have ever been involved with. Athens Drive High School is a public High School whose Music Program currently supports an acclaimed Marching Band, a nationally recognized Wind Ensemble, the Drum Line, the Symphonic Band, the Concert Band, the Color Guard, the Jazz Band, Winter Percussion, and the Winter Guard.
The students are able to create music that is absolutely beautiful. The experience of being in the ADHS Music Program is something that these High School students will treasure for the rest of their lives… most people will never have the opportunity to be a part of something truly great; but these kids are able to flourish and thrive in the ADHS Music Program for four years.
If you have ever wondered what it looks like when someone is in the perfect fit for their job; look no further than the ADSH Band Director, Dr. Jerry (Doc) Markoch. Doc is able to make a positive and indelible impact on these kids’ lives through the Music Program.
I am very happy that my children have the opportunity to be a part of an organization like the ADHS Music Program.
