APHE has been instrumental in me developing as a humane educator. Through the networking and resources that APHE offers, I have gained so much knowledge about the field, what's happening, and what's on the horizon. I've also gained strong connections with other humane educators across the country through the annual conference. That alone is priceless.

APHE provides connection, inspiration, tools for educators and a space for the field to shape and grow. I couldn't be more invigorated after attending the yearly conference, and my colleagues that I've met through this org are some of my favorite people in the world!

APHE has been a vital resource for educators like me in the non-profit world of humane education. This national organization serves educators by providing tangible resources to those in the field: member listserv, quarterly newsletters with valuable lesson plans, webinars from professionals in the field, and of course the yearly national conference. Because my field is unique in the state of Minnesota, APHE provides for me a way to connect with like-minded individuals and benefit from cutting edge programming being offered throughout the country. Thank you for being so supportive to your members and your dedication to advancing the field of humane education!

This is my third year as an APHE member and my first year as a Board Member. What a truly inspirational organization! I am the sole humane educator at my animal shelter and finding APHE allowed me to connect with other educators. Being able to share ideas, ask questions and seek feedback has allowed me to create programs I am proud to share! I have attended two APHE conferences and truly value the effort that goes into planning them. The quality of content and things I learn are instrumental in helping me make an impact in my community. I encourage ALL educators to get involved!

After being a member of APHE for almost 6 years and being on the board for the last two, I can't say enough good things about this organization. Like many here, I struggled to get up and going as a "Party of One" Humane Educator at a previous organization. APHE helped me to connect with fellow educators to ask questions, gain insight, and get the help I needed to not have to reinvent the wheel all the time.

As an APHE Board Member, I am proud of the work our board is doing to provide top quality services to each of our board members. To not only help the beginners get going, but to provide lasting impact on Humane Educators of all levels! I think its a valuable organization for anyone who is promoting empathy to people, animals and our environment.

I have been a member of APHE for 2 years now and have enjoyed the opportunity to connect to other Humane Educators from all over the world. This platform allows me to ask questions to other members and learn how to improve my programming. I have enjoyed the past two conferences APHE has hosted as they gave me great ideas to take back to my organization, allowed the opportunity to learn hands on from others and nurtured creative opportunities.

APHE has been a lifesaver for me! When I started in the world of Humane Education, I wasn't really sure what I was doing. APHE helped me to develop an amazing program that serves over 6000 kids each year. My program would not be what is today without the guidance of APHE. As a board member, I am so proud of all the amazing members we have and the change we are having on the world!

My name is Carol Everett. In 2002 I was fortunate enough to be offered the best job of my life as a Humane Educator at Kauai Humane Society. This was a brand new department with nothing and starting from scratch. We have limited resources to choose from on our small island in the Pacific. There is so much out there online of ways to teach children about kindness, respect and responsibility towards animals, the environment and each other but it is difficult and time consuming to find effective ways to get your lesson across to students.

The Association of Professional Humane Educators (APHE) is responsible for 90% of the success of Kauai’s Humane Education Department! We see between 3000 to 4000 children yearly since 2003mon half time salary. We offer successful camps, clubs, contests, classroom visits, Paws to Read to assist with scholastics and our students even help train shelter dogs. Most of the successes and creative ideas have come from APHE's networking opportinities! Time is money and in a non-profit setting it is especially important. They have saved our department thousands of hours of time which in turn saves us money. Creative, effective lesson plans on a shoe string budget are shared daily. APHE offers direct assistance to specific problems and ideas and I don’t know what we would do without their support!

Simply stated, the children on Kauai are directly benefiting from all the generous members of APHE willing to share their ideas, successes and failures.

Mahalo nui loa (Thank you from the heart) to APHE! We are truly grateful to them.

With gratitude to APHE,

Carol Everett, CHES

I was a member of APHE for several years before becoming a board member. This organization is made up some of the nicest and supportive people you will ever meet! Many humane educators work alone and APHE connects them with others doing similar work in different parts of the United States, Canada and abroad. Humane educators might focus on issues related to companion animals, wildlife, the environment and/or interpersonal relationships. Regardless of the focus, teaching empathy through education is the goal. I am very proud to serve as a volunteer board member for such a worthy cause - it's a fantastic group!

As a board member for APHE, I am proud of how we provide networking opportunities and resources to our members. Connecting humane educators with each other is very important and our members seem to truly value these opportunities.

As an APHE member, I also benefit from the services provided. Being able to connect with others in the field from all over the country and even the world, is so valuable! We all can be so much more effective when we share our ideas, activities, challenges, and more with each other and APHE provides the venue to be able to do that.

I learned about APHE because I am a publisher of children's books about animal issues, and I have sought out organizations that help children to learn about the human-animal bond and about their responsibilities towards animals. I went to one of their meetings, and I was thrilled by their enthusiasm for their work, the programs they run from shelters and in schools. These are dedicated professionals who do so much with a relatively limited budget yet manage to inspire their members as well as to provide them with guidance and programming. APHE is stellar.

APHE is a wonderful organization that catapulted my career to a level that did not know was possible before. The networking and resources shared through APHE have made a lasting difference in my work, which is then passed on to the thousands of children I reach through my programs each year. My favorite part of APHE is that is it a group of well minded people working together to make a difference for the greater good. It fosters a safe space where ideas can be challenged and change occurs. While having a career in Humane Education may be rare, the interest in the work that humane educators do is wide spread and APHE is the organization that binds our work together.

I am one of the educators who conducts programs for children. I have really enjoyed networking with my fellow educators and getting their ideas and assistance when I have had a question about what to present or how to present it. It is a wonderful organization, and I am sure it is as beneficial to children all over the country as it is to the children in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

APHE has been pivotal in my role as a humane educator. I find the networking and support from others in the field to be some my most valued resources. I truly feel that the work that APHE does has made me a better educator and has helped to touch the lives of the young people I work with.
