I have been a board member for the past year. The AMBLP offers valuable programs that are intended to facilitate personal and professional development in youth and young adults living in distressed communities. There are a variety of AMBLP programs for male and females that are beneficial to the individual and the community. For more information about the AMBLP, please visit the website: http://amblp.com/basketball/.

I am a Board Member with AMBLP and have been serving as Vice-President for the past year. I began my affiliation with AMBLP six years ago as a founding member of their gun violence prevention program Scared Stiff - the San Francisco Model. This successful program works to decrease at-risk youth's involvement in gun violence within the community. The program dispels the myths of gun violence, provides them with tools to manage conflict, teaches positive goal setting and attainment, and exposes them to positive role models. I have heard from several parents and community members that this program has saved the life of their love one. When presented with the opportunity to join the AMBLP National Board of Directors I jumped at the chance. The possibility to export the Scared Stiff program to other AMBLP chapters and capitalize on their success by ensuring the delivery of this and other successful programs across the organization was not to be missed. AMBLP is not just another basketball league, it is a program that develops strong character traits in its participants, instills personal accountability, and helps build strong communities.

I am a Board Member with AMBLP and have been serving for the past year. AMBLP's mission and vision for the communities served has been a tremendous asset to the youth and young adults who reside in challenged neighborhoods across the nation. AMBLP is more than young men participating in the sport of basketball, as the organization has programs that help youth in the areas of education, health wellness, leadership and life skills. Additionally, the programs are for girls as well. For more information about the organization visit http://amblp.com/basketball/.
